"The CL104 is dead. It has ceased to be. It is an ex-CL104".

Doomed from the moment it was decided that it was going to be in Norwegian Blue livery? ;) :D

Yeah I also think it's a dead project. Shame really.

Given that we knew that Sim-Track had started again from the ground up and was being done in spare time, I'm assuming it has been taken off to give the devs time to focus on it without the constant pressure of "when is it coming soon" etc.
    I have hope, still

Sadly it looks like Simtrack fall into this category of “Cosplay Company”. One or two people in their spare time, not in any way a structured developer. I agree that having seen the original 3D artwork it was looking well advanced, so I guess like laying track on a route but then having to do everything else, knocking up a 3D model for a UE4 project is the easy bit. Getting it working is much harder. It would be interesting to learn how much help and encouragement DTG have actually given the person working on the project even, knowing how anticipated this was, to the point of taking it over and bringing in house to finish.

So unless we hear otherwise I take the PR blurb with a pinch of salt - it’s dead and along with it any hope of PFR ever getting a better timetable.

Sim Trak did the scenarios on WCMLOS so they’re still around doing stuff.

I'd be quite surprised if you're of the opinion that we're anything other than a team that do this in our spare time. We've always been clear that's our position.

So here you can hear otherwise. Removing it from the road map is not a nail in the coffin etc, but just reflects the fact that DTG want the roadmap to only show stuff with a clear schedule for release.

In addition to our Centro pack, we've made the scenarios for two other (non SimTrack) DLCs and are in the process of making scenarios for five other upcoming non SimTrack dlcs. We're very much around still, and the busiest we've been so far.

    Three quick questions.

    1) Why can't DTG make their own scenarios? (Genuinely interested in this as it sounds like they don't have enough staff).
    2) Are you saying that Simtrack have dropped the CL104 so that they can work on DTG scenarios instead? If so, Why? (Surely making your own rolling stock is more exciting than making scenarios for someone else?).
    3) If you are creating scenarios for other routes then can you ask that more paths are supplied with new routes so that we can make better scenarios ourselves using the in-game tools?

    Thanks.

You'll have to forgive forum members and other players for being totally confused by this obfuscating statement and those from DTG about this dlc.

    Or is that the intention?

I've made no reference to DTG scenarios in my post. You're right, they have their own gameplay team.

It's not one or the other. We have capacity on the gameplay side whilst the artwork has slowly progressed (both on the 104 and the DB loco).

Scenarios are completely different to the scenario designer paths in game, so the two aren't linked in any way.

It's not designed to confuse, but simply state that we don't have a specific release date in mind, and therefore the roadmap isn't the place for it. Basically once we're at the point we know when it'll be finished, then we can ask DTG to relist it.

Thanks for your replies. Just another quick observation.

I know this. But, as I said in my original post, you are obviously talking to route designers about scenarios in general so could you, possibly, do the community a favour by asking if the routes you are involved in could come with as many paths as possible? (1) That would save me from having to create mods to bring sidings & platforms into play which only pc users can use and (2) would make new routes look much fuller in-game and add to their realism.

At the moment, IMHO, no one gives any attention to scenario designer even though it would be quite simple for the original designer to do so.

    Thanks.

Appreciate the replies Lucas. Please accept it all as constructive frustration. The Class 104 is as eagerly if not more awaited than George RR Martin getting round to writing the final book(s) for Game Of Thrones. We are desperate for another heritage DMU in game and to breath some life into PFR. I do think you will agree with hindsight, it should never have been announced quite so early. Can assure you if/when it does come, will be a Day One purchase for many myself included.

Yes well. I suppose it could rise from the dead like Lazarus and the DB420.

If such a miracle should occur, I too will buy it at the first opportunity. PFR is dormant in my toy chest right now, but I'd love to dust it off and run a 1st gen dmu over this excellent route.

    It will feel brand new.

Likewise, it's a heavily anticipated piece of content as no one else has tried to touch PFR and what is a very pretty route has been left in the dust somewhat! It's frustrating to have been waiting for so long after the release was made out to be imminently as of February 2024. But it's good to hear it hasn't stalled.

Absolutely. A combo of us underestimating how long it would take, alongside life events getting in the way.

I’m 100% buying this on day one,

fun fact I actually have a few hundred pounds saved for older trains and routes for tsw, so I really hope this does very well so maybe we can get more older trains.

hell I would pay upwards of £50 to get new steam content or a old Scottish route

Sorry I kinda when off topic, basically I’m just super happy it’s not dead and I can’t wait for it and more older stuff released by other developers as well ^^

Maybe not £50 but a late 1970’s route based around Inverness with a Class 26 I might run to £35!

Basically I just really want more Scottish content and I’m willing to pay quite a bit if it is at least better than Scotrail express

I still think something like Inverness hub would be good, with the lines extending to Aviemore, Nairn and Dingwall (being cheeky Invergordon for the freight). With moves like the classic backing in of the overnight service from Glasgow/Edinburgh to P5 in order to connect with the Far Northline and shunt the vans off on to the Wick and Kyle services.

Anything except modern day. We haven't had anything in the 70s. It's almost like it doesn't exist. BR doesn't sell. Etc.
