They've just released a roadmap....which gives more of an impression of few short term tweaks & fixes than it does a long term commitment to ensure an evolving product. Still, a few console issues have been acknowledged, which hopefully will make the game a lot more stable than it currently is. Also, having played CTS a lot longer now I do tend to agree with you that nobody should consider buying it until it's a lot closer to fit for purpose than it currently is. I'm also fully in agreement with Vern when he pointed out that this game should never have been signed off as complete because it's nowhere close to being ready for release. But I guess that's Dovetail Games for you....prioritising profit over customer satisfaction and/or company reputation is the way they do things nowadays!
Played the free trail and I enjoyed it. Maybe it was buggy when you played it at launch, but for me it was bug free. The only thing that bothered me was some distant terrain pop in, apart from that, everything worked as intended. I’m going to buy the ultimate edition when it goes on sale
The longer you play, the more you'll see that it's still quite some way short of working as intended and because of which, really doesn't warrant any level of purchase....yet. Besides, ViewApp have already stated that the tram signal system has yet to be fixed so at present it's not possible to maintain the timetables on certain routes due to signals either taking anything upto 4 mins to change or simply not changing at all. This in turn affects your overall performance ratings in career mode....and the ability to get specific achievements. Oh and I've also discovered a brand new annoyance....you can collide with oncoming trams as you pass them on bends, so either the vehicle physics are wrong or the entire network has been laid down with tracks too close together.
The thing is I have yet to notice any of the problems you mentioned, maybe they become more common as you progress through the career mode? When I approach a traffic light, 99% of the time it changes to green on approach. My gameplay experience so far has been butter smooth with no bugs. That’s why I’m curious to know why I haven’t experienced any yet. I know they released a new patch recently and before that the game was pretty much unplayable judging by some of the comments. If I do experience any bugs I will comment again. At this point I’ll be glad when I do see a bug so I can put my hands up and say I was wrong.
You don't go on green (they're traffic signals, not tram), you go when the " - " changes to " | " , " \ " or " / " and there are multiple occasions when it flat refuses to change....or makes you wait anything upto 4 mins before allowing you to progress. That in itself plays havoc with keeping to the timetable, which in turn affects your satisfaction rating. I don't know whether this is normal procedure on European networks and trams are renown for disobeying signals and arriving hopelessly late - but what I do know is that Nottingham trams have complete priority on all roads and you do not argue with their presence. The thing is, this is not an imaginary issue (ViewApp have already said it's a known issue and will be dealt with "at a later date") so I'm proper scratching my head as to how you didn't encounter the same problems as myself and others because it kind of becomes obvious something is amiss when you're arriving at the terminus 3-4 minutes late. Also: Passengers being released into traffic and simply walking thru vehicles does happen....all the time. AI vehicles vanishing before your very eyes does happen....all the time. Collisions with approaching trams (on the opposite line) shouldn't happen....but does. If they were just isolated events then fair enough, there would be no real reason to make such a big issue about it, but they're not....and due to their frequency are very, very easy to replicate.
Haha my apologies that’s what I meant. I have played the tutorials quite thoroughly, though you wouldn’t think so.
My new experience (PS5): I deactivated the HUD. Since then, I´ve been far fewer problems with scheduled one-way trips. The speedometer is there, the traffic signs are recognizable, and the driver terminaldisplay shows accurate trip-information (incl. correct Timeline between the stations) That's all what you need. It's just an own small adjustment as an advanced Player. You don't really need the HUD.
