Totally agree. I'm running games quite fine, even modern games, yet TSWs performance is questionalbe. Also differs per route. So I gotta join those who think TSW is not optimized. Never had problems with other games, even those running on UE as well.

I doubt it. Although the reasons are different than NEC New York - New Rochelle, I fear Peninsula Corridor might get the same treatment. With the same lame excuse that you can still keep playing the older TSW version. Like... that's not how a preserved collection is supposed to work...

I hope I'm wrong though and I can keep playing with the trains I've once bought in future iterations of the game.

yeah, I can run HRR very smooth, while semmeringbahn is just HORRIBKE and unplayeble
while I can run orza horizon 5 with 40 fps at high setting without any stutter or freeze.
would be better if dtg was spending time in peformance, not in new add ons

There are only so many bugs you can sweep under one rug,
the rug is pretty full now, staff are tripping over it, Coffee was spilt.
the rug is going for cleaning soon,
then the TSW6 bugs can go there........

And just watch how the same people who want DTG to do less DLCs start threads with titles like "Why is there no new UK route?", "Is TSW dead?", "Lack of routes from [country X]!!". "Why is [route X] already so long on the roadmap?", "Why is there no 9f in TSW?" .

Ah, but you see, they should only make less of the DLC that I personally don't like!

Totally agree. With Farming Simulator there's 3 years in-between new versions

A new game release puts you on the front page of Steam, Epic Games Store, XBOX store and Playstation Store.

A DLC release gets you a tiny box on your games store page, that 99% of people will never notice unless they already own the game.

Why do you think EA release new sports games every year?

    Free advertising that people notice.

Which is why there's a new TSW each year.

Unlike other games, its a niche market. So obviously they're going to do whatever they can to ensure it is always in full view, which in this case means a new game each year (with a minimal amount of new features that separate it from the previous one).

Before I buy any game on xbox I do check if it is annual formula game (fifa, gp, f1, tsw, mxgp) if so... I just f&$k it and forget.

It is an economic model. The game is too cheap, the routes are too expensive. In order to have people buy more routes, three of them are bundled together and offered (as a "new" game) for a reduced price. Also, people who do not accept that and stay with the "old" game will not receive updates.

Of course one could just keep improving the base game and offer DLCs. But apparently it is more advantageous to go down this route (no pun intended).

TSW5 was kind of an exception as the base game was free to download.

EA don’t need to be on the front page constantly to get sales. They are simply greedy and have noticed that people will blindly buy the same game every year with minor changes

Which is weird that SCS used to do this strategy, starting with their 18 Wheel of Steel series from 2002-2007, then the original Euro Truck Simulator in 2008, another 18 WOS entry in 2009, then UK Truck simulator in 2010, followed by German Truck Simulator in 2011 along with the last 18 WOS game, then 2012 was Euro Truck Simulator 2, with American Truck Simulator in 2016, in which they now just update both of the base games, offer free truck DLC's on top of other paid DLC's. Which now in the long run has paid off for them.

Also Train Simulator Classic still uses this method too, but DTG has pretty much put that out to pasture.

I just don't see how DTG offering this year after year pays off for them, train sim isn't something that really works in rereleases in modern times unless you somehow vastly change the game entirely. Aside from the TTTE DLC, I don't see how releasing a new TSW each year will drag in new players that don't already know about the series.
