What Birmingham Cross City Should Represent Irl Birminghamm New Street

Wow, maybe it's because I'm a Londoner (that would make a good lyric) and have little attachment to the West Midlands, but I'd be more than happy if there was a timetable mod for Cross-City that was a mix of 323s and WM liveried 710s.

A proper 730 would be ace but on Cross-City I think the reskinned 710s look great.

 

Which one are you? Chas or Dave? (By the way I'm originally from Enfield so, hopefully, I get away with that).

I could probably upload this scenario now. The only real issue seems to be (a) Sorting out the 5 minute start-time issue (although this scenario works quite well despite it) and (b) the 350s are running with their pantographs down. (I've a feeling I've heard people mention that issue before, possibly within WCML, but perhaps someone will comment on here).

The orange 710s do look quite effective and provide a contrast to the 323s

Yes. When West Midlands Trains let DTG put the class 197 and 730 in-game... It's a bit pointless while we only have the class 323 on the route.

DTG haven't even bothered to fix the LOD bugs on the platform benches and tunnel catenary at New Street since the route launched.... Even after Matt acknowledged the bug during one of his charity live streams a couple of years ago.

So don't hold your breath on any BCC updates coming soon.

EDIT: Think that should have been class 196, not 197 .... but was close.

 

I would definitely purchase unbranded trains/lines as I know that these will still be represented in the colours of said ops plus they'll end up being repainted with branding from the modding community!

Maybe they have but I'm surprised that they don't try and license with the Train manufacturer rather then the operator, like some developers obtain licenses with Aircraft manufacturers in Flightsim or car manufacturers in Racing sims and work with former and current drivers that might be using TSW to obtain knowledge on the rolling stock etc, this way you are not restricting yourselves to which lines can be created and market more the scenery and allow for larger scope of rolling stock then on the operators themselves. Liveries for the rolling stock can be a free addition....

This is just my opinion but feel limiting yourself to the actual operator limits your ability to expand, unless the operator owns the rights to certain rolling stock? and/or the actual manufacturer hasn't been open to licensing themselves and asking too much?

I'm from Barking (and looking back, my upbringing was barking mad) so yes, we're both London suburban lads and can mock each other accordingly.

I saw Chas or Dave in my local curry house in Colchester a few years ago. I was about to say hello and realised I didn't know which one he was. Was their drummer called "And"?

I've got the internet here (and electricity, Essex is fairly modern these days) so I should do some research on Chas, And and/or Dave.

 

I don't think it's uploaded yet, but I have to confess I do keep checking Creators Club to see if it's on - it really does look amazing.

 

No I haven't uploaded the scenario yet. I did a little bit of tweaking last night and now the player service gets stuck 10 minutes in. Typical Shouldn't be too awkward to fix though.

I don't think I will be able to upload to Creators Club due to the scenario requiring mods. I'll give it a go but it will probably end up on Train Sim Community. I'll also create a new thread on this site linking to the liveries I have used.

My plan is to then use that 'template' of mods and liveries to make 4-5 more scenarios so that you all get some 'value' from searching out the downloads.

 

That sounds fantastic, I did your NSE Victoria to Brighton recently on my Youtube channel and really enjoyed it and can see you've put some great work in terms of offering scenarios that add interest and variety - thanks a lot !!

 

Yeah, it does look really good. I just want to play BCC that has some life to it, as the current BCC is a ghost town and it doesn’t reflect what’s it’s like irl.

 

Right I have uploaded the scenario to the hub as a trial to see if it works OK. Note that it is a TSW5 scenario (mainly for the Pendolinos) although some of my earlier screenshots were in TSW4 (with Pretendolinos). I am slightly concerned that as the liveries were created in both TSW4 & TSW5 that one or two may not show up correctly but that is what this trial is about.

Note that this is a modded scenario so you MUST have the 3 mods needed for it to run correctly installed. Unfortunately this also means that the scenario is only suitable for PC players.

Two are fairly short ones just to prove a couple of concepts but they are all different to the sort of scenarios you would have played on BCC before.
