Ronkonkoma much over Babylon to my taste. Because of scenery. Route to Babylon has almost identical scenery on all the way. I'll vote with my money for a new shiny route from scratch only if they redo all the scenery that's left over from LIRR 1.0 and add a third track to Hicksville. Otherwise, I'm all for expanding the existing 2.0 version with the condition that all existing branches will remain.
I tried to tell ppl that DTG always fall flat for the US players on purpose...as far as LIRR 2.0, it doesn't really impress me..One they, still ended the main line only to Hicksville, which should've at least went to Huntington and Ronkonkoma(maybe Farmingdale idk). Also mentioned, I would've mind also part of Babylon Branch as far as Freeport...And not to mention the God awful laziness of only the garbage shuttle run on the Port Washington line....now okay we got the Atlantic Brnach to Long Beach, but not even a full Far Rockaway or even West Hempstead....second it's set for 2018 or 2019, and yet they give you the covid 2021 year schedule...They should've went with late 2019/early 2020 before covid timetable...third of course the biggest crime being No Diesel service, they could've added at least East Willinston off the Oyster Bay Branch.....and then DTG clowns us by only give static trains jus parked in Penn and Sunnyside yard(regarding AI Amtrak and NJ Transit).... and then I'm hearing the dlc crashes eastbound Into Jamaica lmao....I hate to say it again, but what u get in this LIRR 2.0 is going to stay and no improvements ever.
I wouldn't say they are doing in on purpose. More like the lack of knowledge and information - but at least there seems to be improvement on this front recently. Newer US routes are finally starting to become better. Yet admittedly there does seem to be a lack of passions as well, when compared to european content. I mean this new LIRR route had to be a separate purchase, when other british and german routes get complete overhauls for free? Several UK routes got or are getting complete scenery overhauls and updates. Southern High Speed even got extended for free and got more rolling stock included. Several german routes also got or are getting new timetables and such. Yet LIRR had to be bought a second time to get it to even a presentable state...? Anyways, while it's not perfect, I do like this LIRR. At least it's something what I expected the original one to be and what I waited for years. But while I don't find it likely, I'm still hoping that at some point it gets more love, at least in the form of the diesels to complete the roster. Or an MP15 with freight and/or rail head treatment train, lol.
I agree with your constructive criticism and most of that I have expressed the same. As you said the US routes have gotten better and hope to keep the momentum going.
Hopefully. I really like the recent MBTA Worcester Line, I think it's one of the best from the US lineup with a good rolling stock variety and great scenery. The two Metrolink routes also look pretty good, though the scenery on them feels a bit worse and F125 and the rotem cars aren't really my thing. But overall it's good variety now with the MP36 and the F59. Last time we had something like this was Peninsula Corridor, but the scenery on that poor route has always been horrible. As for LIRR, another thing I believe has never been addressed were the stuck services that seem to happen at NY Penn and somewhere at the Long Beach branch. Like here I was driving train 723 and noticed this big pileup of trains in the south tunnel. Train 1623 was stuck for being "off the path", causing a huge lineup of trains behind it. It was supposed to enter NY Penn at around like 8:20, but was still stuck there half an hour later when I arrived at around 8:50.
is there still a chance for a patch? Island Park station is crooked - one platform is too close, the other is too far from tracks. White fog on East New York station. Black hole in Jamaica. Dead Mineola platforms. And so on.
Where the 4 cars EMU's stops? I mean is this an ingame inaccuracy or IRL there are also no stop markers for 4 cars on many platforms? Do they stop at markers 6 instead?
Are there even any 4 car stop markers in real life? I don't think LIRR runs many 4 car trains nowdays, do they? Either way, yeah - usually if you don't have a stop marker for your exact train length, then you stop at the next "available" number. At least that's how they to it at most places around the world.
4 car trains are a forbidden formation because of concerns about 3rd rail gaps (I believe?). Whatever the reason is, they do not run any 4 car trains other than in yards where they have to split trains up. There are 4 car trains in the Dovetail timetable because I think they made Atlantic Terminal too short or something, but it's not something that exists in real life.
The alerter and ACSES on the M3 are COMPLETELY SILENT. And since the alerter has no visual cue either, driving with it on is impossible, That plus ridiculous timings make driving the M3 an exercise in frustration- wholly unlike the enjoyable M7 and M9.
The M3 doesn't have ACSES implemented, only ATC. I haven't drivet it a while, but last time I played the M3 it was all fine. I will take it for a spin and test it myself as well.
I drove the M3 the other day and it works fine.As mentioned by Dinosbacsi the M3 doesn’t have ACSES implemented but ATC.
Misspoke. Whatever the systems are they are completely silent (and the alerter has no visual warning either)
Just did a drive in the M3 and can confirm, there are safety system sounds, no issue at all on my end.
It's unlikely that anyone will fix the bugs, but still. 1715 won't recognize the train number, says it's invalid.
Under what conditions? Just tried two more services and can confirm that the safety systems generate NO audible alarms in the M3; just surprise braking. The only thing which might conceivably be a factor is the fact I uninstalled LIRR1, thinking it unnecessary. Could that be it? EDIT: No, that isn't it. Problem still there. I'll try removing Bescot's M3/M3A soundmod, although for everyone else it seems to work fine. EDIT 2: Yes, it was the mod. Why doesn't it work for me when it works for everyone else? Don't know, but I have an inkling that it's because I don't own Harlem and the M3A (which the mod also covers)
Could be it. I believe the old alerter ring sound effect might come from Harlem Line, so you're simply missing the sound effect, resulting in it being silent.
At first I thought that my LIRR had broken down, since a fairly large group of passengers were boarding AI train at NYP. But then I hovered the cursor over that AI train. False alarm. It's heading to Westside.
Happened again. Now on train 143 right under the bridge after Woodside. If you can't make safety systems togglebale(which would help bypass the problem), then at least fix it. I don't want to run M9 services now, because it wasn't a one-time glitch, which means it will happen again.
I would also like to note the "amazing" description of the services. Wanted to drive from Lynbrook. Every service description shows that the train will go trough St. Albans, obviously the first one chosen goes on a different branch. The second one starts from St. Albans instead of Lynbrook. The third one starts from Jamaica instead of Lynbrook. Okay, I'll go the other way. Babylon(Atlantic Terminal - Valley Stream) = ends at St. Albans. Also there is a train standing at Atlantic Terminal, which says that in two minutes it will depart from Penn Station. I have no words because I have run out of censored ones.
That could explain the issues I was having the other day as that involved a M9 run, even though I complied with the speed reductions well ahead of time and constantly mashing the Q key I was still getting frequent penalty brake applications.
Service name "to Ronkonkoma" Service description "to Hicksville" Service timetable "to Hillside" Fix these descriptions already. 50% of them don't say in text or show on the map that the train is going from/to Westside. Sure, you can guess if it's a 47-minute Port Washington - NYP service (10 minutes to go, 37 minutes to stand).
That’s entirely correct. The service does go to, eg, Ronkonkoma, and the PIS will display Ronkonkoma- but the player will only drive as far as Hicksville because that’s as far as the modeled route goes
is the same for WCML. the 390 has Edinburg, Manchester, Birmingham but the player service ends at Milton . All routes in TSW are that way. They are off the map final destination
Guys, forget about Ronkonkoma, read the 2nd and the 3rd lines. It says Hicksville, but it ends at Hillside. And there are many services like this in timetable with wrong description and map visuals.
I like it a lot too, except the unnecessarily long crawl to Worcester (which gives low speed limit way too soon) and although they improved the Worcester stop in that you can manage to get pretty much on the stop marker, you still get the penalty brake as you stop, which is nonsense
Hopefully, we see conductor mode added in a Future patch I asked Matt about it in a roadmap stream. He said they are looking to do it at some point
I've noticed that AI has stopped getting stuck at Penn Station and Jamaica, but now it likes to get stuck at Valley Stream. Train 876. 3 AI's get stuck at Valley Stream! THREE!!! The first one I deleted was going to Far Rockaway. Then train to Long Beach got stuck right after it. I deleted that one too. But then the next train to Far Rockaway got freaking stuck. There were 4 AI trains and only one of them was able to go further. That means 75% of them got stuck!!! That's the freakin record!
Interested in picking up this route during the current sale. Does the M3 work properly and is it worth getting? The Steam reviews on the M3 were negative, so I’m concerned. Thanks
What do you play on? On Xbox it runs as it about should. The safety systems on the M3 work properly, although, I don’t use them very often because they aren’t enforced like the M7 and M9.
I play on pc. I like the look of the M3 and the idea of being able to play w/o safety systems. Just wasn’t sure if it worked well because of the vague steam reviews. Thanks
M3 doesn't work nearly as well as M7/M9. But it has functional cab signaling which is what matters most.
May I ask, is it really necessary to have the original LIRR map for the LIRR M3 Add-on to work on the new LIRR(2) map? Thanks for the advice
If I may ask, does the Harlem Line map add anything? In the instructions it is listed as expand your collection, but I'm not sure because I don't think there is anything like that in the layers? Thanky for the advice
Nothing layers into it and you get 2 types of train . No playable freight only a little ai freight i think . Not played it for a while.
I just think it's currently on sale, and it's "connected" to NY Penn through Hope, and there's a mention of it in the instructions, so I'm asking just to be sure.
Harlem line does not connect to pen station its from grand central to white plains. From grand central you can fast to pen station. Thats all you can do.
Ok, thanks ...... and freight trains probably don't run there, or, as was mentioned here today, is there something extra there?
I meant more like the LIRR Commuter map But there probably won't be freight traffic there either, right?
While I know there is a search function on this site I do not know if I can restrict the search to only this thread and it is quite long (16 pages to date), so I do not know if this has been reported here or not. I get a lot of crashes near Jamaica on my PS4 for TSW4 regardless if I am playing a service or a scenario. [EDIT] Fixed for scenarios at least in TSW5
