Would you be interested in a route focused on military trains?

I know I would be, just wondering if other posters would. And if so, what kind of route and period?

I've read somewhere that the ICE 3 Neo was used for the military to transport soldiers or something idk but sounds like a neat idea, covering a Siemens Velaro in military livery ;)

Problem with any military route is going to be security concerns and of course in this day and age more commodities are probably transported by road.

For the UK the biggest dedicated military railway was Longmoor in Hampshire, long since closed. However many other locatons were or are simply spurs served off main lines. The old Northampton to Bedford line used to serve the Ordnance Depot at Piddington and even after the route was closed by BR, the section remained open to just short of Ravenstone Wood Jn with army locos working the traffic between there and Northampton Bridge Street. AFAIK the rail served depots at Kineton (accessed via a short section of the old SMJ from Fenny Compton) and Bicester (off the Oxford to Bletchley line) are still operational but you're not going to get these in the sim.

For the USA I always thought the Fort Eustis complex would make an interesting study but again without co-operation of the armed forces, never going to happen.

Well for 1, we did get modern military content in TSC.

    2. For the most part in the US, a military train would just be just an additional service on top of their own freight timetable, Railroads in the US usually moves equipment for the military, especially if a unit is getting deployed overseas.

I always enjoyed those Q1 scenarios on the Somerset and Dorset, with the tanks and Spitfire fusilages.

( with the occasional dog fight overhead if I recall correctly. )

I’ve seen some TSC DB 232 videos on YouTube what are military freight services.

I have no objection to it, it’s just the same as if they added gravel or sand etc to me, though might be more imagery (detailed) appealing.

Yeah afaik they want to turn three 408s into field hospitals. But not sure if we'll see (or barely see ;)) an ICE in full camo then, keeping the white livery and adding the red cross on the roof would make more sense I think

This would’ve been a much cooler add-on for Cajon Pass than the Santa Fe F7 ngl

Let me guess you want the Warrior IFV with KFA wagons as seen in TSC re made for TSW 4 if PDL arrives.
Oddly the DB BR 194 Krokodil DB BR150 and DB BR110.3 was used by the US Military from Bremen/Frankfurt to West Berlin. At Helmstedt the mentioned electric locomotives are replaced by the RSN DR BR132 DR BR119 U-boat DR BR118 Steam 52.80 65.10. For that train the last carriage was the Caboose Ft Eustis museum plaque the Guard Car followed by the sleeper/luggage car. This US Military train leaves Berlin for Bremen/Frankfurt at 8:15 pm TSW 4 using UK/German 24hr clock 20:15.

The British military train , the Berliner, which ran from Braunschweig to Berlin throughout the Cold War would make a fantastic route. There's a fair amount of declassified information available about it.

Correct there is also the American version of the train I mentioned it at the top. Regarding that train to Berlin it runs in the evening the West German section is usually carried by a DB Baureihe 110.3 Linke Rheinstrecke/Wunderline Bremen Oldenburg Groningen from either Frankfurt am Main Hbf/Bremen Helmstedt where it is replaced by a diesel or steam locomotive from that point onwards to West Berlin via the checkpoint Marienborn

UK military trains are almost impossible to spot these days. You could be standing on a railway station platform and one could pass right Infront of you without you noticing.

If you ever see a train consisting of old, dirty silver BR VGA / VKA wagons, randomly split-up by PFA / KFA / FAA container flats (empty ones usually used as barrier wagons mid-consist), then congratulations, that's 99.9% an MoD train.

Wouldn't be hard to recreate in-game.

There are a few weekly MoD runs on the Welsh Marches, if I remember correctly. VGA/VKAs full of ammo, mostly!

DTG should make a military route and donate some off the profits to help for heroes or other military charities.

The one route they could do, now long closed, would be the old Longmoor Military Railway. Anything still operational, such as the spur from Fenny Compton to Kineton on the old SMJ is likely to be off limits due to security concerns. Another one could be the old Tidworth branch off the M&SWJR from Andover.

Yes, our target DTG , we will bring back steam with force, in all seriousness this is a joke but I would like to see this in the game either as a official addon or mod
