Welcome to the Unofficial Screenshot Competition!

The theme for this week is: Freestyle
Feel free to interpret the theme however you wish. The more obvious choices are freight pulled Amtrak or vice versa, or certain rail tours in the UK.

This is a fun and friendly alternative to the official Screenshot Competition run by DTG.
Here you can share your weekly themed TSC screenshots using any 3rd party / post shot editing etc. creations which are not allowed in the official competition.

    Rules:
    • TSC only shots allowed.
    • Screenshot should be in some way (can be very tenuous) linked to the theme. Otherwise anything goes.
    • You can enter up to 3 screenshots, posted as separate posts. You can delete and replace if you wish.
    • 3rd party content / Reshades / Reskins etc. are welcomed but are not mandatory.
    • Previous week's winner to decide winner (can't enter themselves).
    • The winner chooses the new theme for next week (and becomes the new judge).
    • The Judge of the week's decision is final.
    • We strongly discourage any negative comment or criticism of another entry by a fellow contributor, this is a light hearted & fun contest! This is a major "we are all friendly" thread and we hope it will always remain so.
    • Please keep chat to an absolute minimum.
Entries will close at 10PM GMT on Saturday, April 19th 2025 and will be judged by me - Blazin

In the event of this week's winner not responding by 10PM GMT on Sunday, April 20th 2025, a new thread will be created using the results of this week's poll.

Basically repost of weekly, with bits of text.

ScotRail Class 68 speeding from Edinburgh to Glasgow during ScotRail Saviour:

The gloom works well considering the train colours as well as the age of the route.
Found quite a few nice scenes in this spring setting. This is rather standard but spruce is probably my favourite woodlands.

Class 37 on the West Highland Line its way from Glenfinnan to (eventually) Mallaig during Westbound Ballast:

A bit dark on the shadowy side during sunset but I like the framing and obscuring of the sun.

Different day, different train, different weather, same season, same route, same photographer.
Class 37 during A Run to the Isles:
    20241215210549_1.jpg
A standard shot, if anything, but I like these.
Having a bit too many low shots and striving for broader views, but this route has a rendering issue, so.
This is the first time I'm noticing a combination of 2D and 3D weather and I think it turned out fine.
3D is limited to just above the player, which feels odd, except for the 2020s IT joke of having a personal cloud.
2D adds the distant clouds low on the horizon, completing the cover.

Yay I am back up & running with new PC, Happy Days.
Late to the show I'm afraid but I would like to offer this screengrab of class 442 412 breaking through the early morning mist.

Just out walking the dog as the evening sun starts to set, when all of a sudden the penultimate EMR HST service from St. Pancras to Nottingham with this diagram (top & tailed by 43 274 & 43 238) cruises past on the MML. What a sight and sound to behold, I sadly miss these wonderful sets.

    Basford Hall yard.png

I`ve been waiting for an excuse to upload this pic....

Staff at Crewe Basford Hall yard enjoy an afternoon brake with 37264 idling away with an engineering train as 2x 37`s pull in with some tankers.

Thank you for participating everyone, glad to see Craigie-C got cracking just in time and good to see paulc return as well! Anyway, here are the results!

In 3rd Place is paulc with a shot that I simply just really enjoy because of the colouring of purely just black and white. I find that incredibly creative and it deserves the 3rd spot for me!

In 2nd Place is Craigie-C with this very moody Gatwick Express shot. I love the cold and wet atmosphere this shot really provides with the weather and surrounding bare vegetation. I also find the Class 442 in Gatwick Express livery quite interesting too, I need to drive it more often!!

In 1st Place is triznya.andras with this absolutely gorgeous shot on the West Highland Line, there's no other way you can put it. The framing and composition brilliant, the sky, lighting and weather in general is just beautiful with of course the ever classic Class 37 climbing those steep hills. A very impressive shot for someone who I've never seen use graphics enhancements of any kind, one of your best in my opinion triznya.andras!

Looking forward to the following week from triznya.andras!

Thank you! Also happy to see more people back. I was getting ready to post something about waiting for more :)
I wonder whether some from the official contest can be lured.

I also really like paulc's concept (and execution) of the 802.

Decided for Spring has sprung, synergy with official to lure some in, a test and maybe ammunition for discussion.

    Also, Happy Easter everyone!
