Route Merseyrail Northern Line

    INTRODUCTION

    Today I will be suggesting the Northern Line operated by Merseyrail (owned by Merseytravel) . This route will have 36 stations in total and will be 41 miles (65 km) long.


    THE ROUTE
    The route starts at Hunts cross and Liverpool central, located in Liverpool, ending at Southport,Ormskirk and Headbolt Lane

    The maximum operating speed is 60 mph (97 km/h) maximum

    The class 777/0 manufactured by Stadler Rail as part of the METRO family built from 2018-2023 with 53 units built 46 of those trains being /0s and 7 being /1s the top speed of this train is 75 mph (120 km/h) and the safety systems used are TPWS/AWS and ETCS.

    777/0 (4 car, single voltage, used on electrified third rail tracks)

    777/1 (4 car, Battery electric, used on third rail electrified and un electrified lines )


    777/0 & 777/1- 182 seats 75 mph (120 km/h)
    777/1 - 182 seats in battery mode 62 mph (100 km/h)

    Liverpool Central - Southport
    Hunts Cross - Liverpool Central

    The class 508/1 manufactured by British Rail Engineering Limited as part of the BREL 1972 family built from 1979-1980 43 units were built with 43 of those trains built while 21 were scrapped leaving 22 in service the top speed of this train is 75 mph (120 km/h) and the safety systems used are TPWS/AWS (as of now two of them are left and out of service)

    The class 507/0 manufactured by British Rail Engineering Limited as part of the BREL 1972 family built from 1978-1980 33 units were built with 11 of those trains scrapped leaving 22 in service the top speed of this train is 75 mph (120 km/h) and the safety systems used are TPWS/AWS (as of now they are out of service and 1 train has been preserved)

    507/0 (3 car, single voltage, used on electrified lines )

    508/1 (3 car,single voltage, used one electrified lines)


    507/0 - 192 seats
    507s have one compressor
    508/1 - 222 seats
    508s have two compressors


    -507s can handle 650V-750V

    -508s can handle 750V-850V

    The class 508s lights cant handle third rail gaps and will flicker off

    This would be a great network route for TSW. Lots of replayability as well as service count.

    Could the 507/508 and 777 switch places so the 777 be the DLC maybe?

    Would enhance the appeal for me if the older train came with the route.

    If DTG really wanted to they could just add both. I don’t see why they couldn’t aswell tbh.

    Yeah, but slim chance of that.

    We'd be lucky if we got a 507/508 at all really. Unless a third party such as Just Trains made it (would probably be better if they did anyway as this route just so happens to have an end point at Ormskirk).

    Being the old dinosaur I am, Merseyrail with 502’s and 503’s, please!

    Seriously though this would be a great network regardless of era but needs to be done properly not like Cardiff with trains just running to little stubs of each main route.
