Hi all With seeing a few people online and on forums asking for the voyager we have the routes to add the 221 with 220 and 222 they can all be placed somewhere in the game and it makes sense having the 222 on mml as a loco add on just to boost the route up bit more they are great units and be great addition on tsw
As much as I personally dislike them, I'm surprised there is no 222 on the Midland Mainline route (assuming they ran alongside HSTs in the period the route is set)
This would be a great excuse for an expansion pack. It would be great to see the voyagers in the game as it would layer onto MML as well as WCMLS. Even Manchester Commuter which is coming out eventually
Biggest handicap to a Voyager remains Cross Country (or predecessor Virgin) licence. However, love the type or hate them a 222 for MML would fill the gap.
Maybe it could come with a new route like derby to Plymouth via Birmingham new street in cross country livery
A midland mainline expansion pack with the EMR 222 (220 or 221)/170 +158 2024(25) TT..2 of the trains are already in the game so just require a new paint job and gets the 220 in game.. from there they can layer this into ECML and AI only services with SEHS + Glossip (+ Manchester airport line)..
Hopefully won’t be long before we get a version of the Voyager or Meridian.. the latter are supposedly heading to Scotrail in the next few years, and I’m sure they’d be open for more representation!
Dont see it as a handicap, just create it without the branding, they've done it before, there's no branding on LNWR, while there'll be no branding on GWR with the remaster? I don't think people will care too much if we get the 220/21/22 in the game to whether it has EMR or XC branding all over it or not!
The LNWR branding was removed last minute, they had no choice to release it unbranded or else they'd have lost the time and money that had already gone into the route - they were too far into development to pull the plug. The upcoming GWE remaster is a passion project and will be free (for those who own the route already) anyway - plus it's well known there is no GWR license so the trains being unbranded is accepted Unbranded trains ruin the realism and immersion of the route. Some might settle for them, but really they should be avoided and only be done as a last resort (which I see as being when the license is pulled last minute as was the case with LNWR). Otherwise it sets the precedent that branding doesn't matter.
While it wouldn’t bother me it’s not just the branding. DTG also need access to the trains for reference pictures, including the cabs, cooperation of the TOC as regards operating procedures and to hopefully get some decent sound samples. Without that, you’re not getting a train, at least not to the sort of standard TSW aspires to.
I can understand from a "realism" point of view that it might have a little effect for some but if they have the license for one operator that uses the same line as another I would prefer an Unbranded train (just use the colours) then not having the rolling stock on the line because of branding issues, or else there will be no immersion.. point in case MML. its ok but it isn't great from an immersion point of view due to lack of the other operator.. Would prefer unbranded XC services on the 170 and HST to go with EMT will make it feel a little more lively I would rather see the Game move forward with more content scenery + rolling stock like the class 220/21/22 then have the game held back because licensing couldn't be acquired. Must be why we have so many 66s!
However you still miss the point that without access to the prototype, it would be virtually impossible to get the data needed to do the train justice in the sim. We already have enough MU's in particular kicking around with aliased sounds.
you can get the data and the sounds...many aircraft developers in Flightsim use, images + vids along with real pilots and engineers who are involved in the hobby rather then the manufacturer's themselves in most cases, same can be applied here if they have the contacts or those willing to assist!
We will only get this if the person who makes the decisions on what new content is put in to development personally wants this to be made regardless of the volume of suggestions and community desire in here.
I believe DTG have stated that even with permission, the quality of sound from YouTube etc. clips while okay for reference purposes is not generally of sufficient quality for transposing into actual traction sounds played in game.
Out of curiosity why cant they use the data from the TSC version they have and translate that into the new engine of TSW, its a dovetail game isnt it and the voyager is on the front cover of TS Classic.
Then you hit the licensing issue again. Basically a chicken and egg situation. Also the data and sounds from TSC might not cut muster for for use in TSW.
Licenses for TSC don't automatically cover TSW. So they'd still need to secure a whole new license. Also, TSC is a completely different game. If a Voyager was coming to TSW, it would have to be remade pretty much from scratch.
I know that, you just cant port but it was more the data from that version to use in the build for a new TSW version.. but yes the licensing from either Bombardier or an operator would be required if using branding
In real life, I can't stand the Voyagers, but with one exception. Fan of the seats in first class on an EMR 222. I will miss them when they're gone. However, I wouldn't mind seeing Voyagers come to the sim. I couldn't stand the Pacers in real-life either, but love driving them in TSW.
