The new Koln Aachen timetable is nearly upon us which I am sure will radically enhance the playability of the route. I think my most played at present is Cathcart with the new timetable, a full Glasgow central with Pendolinos and all the other Scotrail stock layered in. What would people like to see next? My two options which I think would be viable are East coastway, with 387s and 700s AI at Brighton, London Eastbourne services added between Lewes and Eastbourne, and a reskinned 170 masquerading as a 171 for the Brighton Ashford services. Tees valley, with pacers layered in, a reskinned HST in BR livery at Darlington, and Esk valley AI at Middlesborough. I guess there is perhaps other stuff that could go in as well.
NTP with the Class 31's given some passenger work, perhaps double headed in lieu of a 45 or 47. Class 20's (reskinned to BR Blue) to substitute on the lighter freight workings. Maybe a summer Saturday timetable with extra relief services crossing the Pennines in both directions. PFR in the absence of the Class 104 pack releasing any time soon, we need a reskin/rework of the Class 45 into green livery and 45/0 variant along with a green Class 101, offer a diesel timetable based on 1962 or thereabouts. Ideally there would also be a Class 25 for freight and shorter passenger workings , but a reskinned green 31 could pass muster.
NTP desperately needs a new timetable to give it more life, with the updated scenery mod it looks good but just needs more trains in there. I had looked into doing one myself but having had a chat with a few folks that have had a crack at it too, it seems to be a particularly difficult one to work on (their work being limited to the Leeds area and nothing on the full route yet as it is so awkward).
I'm definitely in agreement of NTP getting a new timetable. Personally, I think NTP deserves LIRR 2.0 treatment. Remaster and expand the route to Healy Mills for freight, then Leeds to York for passenger, new busier timetable and BR Class 56 as a new locomotive. As JT have proven, BR does sell so this would likely go down really well!
I agree, a 56 would massively improve this route as it was very busy with MGR traffic, heck I remember seeing MGRs looped around Manchester to let others pass by! Personally I'd shove it out Liverpool way rather than York as it then offers Bold Colliery for MGR loading and of course quite a lot of them turning off at Earlestown to "continue to Fiddlers Ferry" off route. It also gives an opportunity to throw in a load of local traffic between Manchester and Liverpool as well as give a logical starting point to the TP loco hauled expresses (though York was obviously a crew change point too). Out of interest, is NTP a JT route from long-long ago? If it is then maybe they might try and put life back into it, AND HOPEFULLY SORT OUT THE MAN VIC SUBWAY!!!
Depends really, if we got a 2023 timetable then probably 170 and 172 reskins as drivable services, possible drivable 350. AI AWC 390, TFW 150 and CX HST. If it was 2025, then it would have way less layers which would really warrant a new route with 730 and possibly 196 so if they did do a timetable update it would have to be 2023 timetable.
For me its ECML, this will just bring more immersion to the route which is fairly stagnate in its current form even with the EMT layer as LNER liveries is basically it.. From what we have in game: Class 150 + 158 + 170 (+331s if they come with the Manchester Airport DLC) for Northern AI at Retford & Doncaster Class 153/158 Sprinter repainted to represent East Midland Regional Class 170s repainted to represent EMR as drivable services as well as AI Peterborough, Grantham & AI in/out of Doncaster Class 170 repainted to represent Cross Country as AI Peterborough Class 700 thameslink AI services Class 387 repainted to represent Great Northern AI services for Peterborough (Peak times and weekday evenings only) Class 801 Azuma LNER including their special liveries Class 801s repainted to represent Hull Trains as drivable services Grantham to Doncaster then AI for all other ops along the line Class 801 repainted to represent Lumo colours for AI services only Class66 freight Class37 ops (has to be something it can do on the line) and then anything available for Rail tours, and maybe Network rail Open up more starting points at sidings etc rather then spawn at stations only Unfortunately nothing out there for Grand Central to run up and down the line along with TransPennine class185 rolling stock in and out of Doncaster (maybe we get TPE 185s and Northern 331s with Manchester Airport that can layer onto ECML?) MML, I actually like the scenery despite how short the sections are but it is fairly stagnate with what we have on the line. Along with EMT and freight with class66 would like to see: 170 + 43s repainted to represent Cross country services with drivable 170s between Derby and Nottingham Class37 - has to be something it can do on the line? and then anything available for Rail tours, and maybe Network rail Im sure from what Ive seen BCC and Glossop need serious updates for traffic but these are the only two I dont own for now so haven't mentioned in full
I think East Coastway too, it’s a route that I still go back to and is one of the jewels of TSW considering its age.
Boston - Providence. Some Amtrak services get held up by MBTA services. Amtrak is supposed to have priority.
Yes I'm sure those early routes were built in Chatham because, at that time, no-one else was up to speed on UE as it applied to TSW, nor Simugraph for that matter. These days of course, no-one other than DTG knows whose fingers are in the pies that they publish.
NTP could be a great 2.0 prospect. Update the scenery on the main route. Add Manchester Picadilly (some assets available from the Glossop route) Extend to Liverpool (some assets already available from the SoS route) and at the other end, extend to York (creating asset for the hopefully ECML part 2, York to Newcastle). Add a Class 56 (which can be reskinned and used on almost all Uk routes). New timetables with various new coaching and loco options. It would be enough upgrade to be worth buying afresh for those who have the original and it adds a long route with only half the work required.
Tees Valley Line. "New" locos/units for the route would be the 142, and 47 to operate alongside the 101s and various locos. AI HSTs reskinned into Intercity or BR blue colours to represent Scottish/Anglo services. The 31 would finally be added to livery editor. A new loco could be the 56 or 58.
I’m currently doing a revised ECML April 2025 timetable Just on with finishing up the 9 car LNER services (5 & 10 car are done), then all passenger and depot movements should be in there. Mainly using 170s to represent 170/185/195/220/221/755 workings, and 801 to represent 180/800/801/802/803 workings, but most services should be correct length - so a mix of 2/3/4 & 5 car 170s, and a 12 car 700 150s and 158 represent themselves. Just need to accept that ScotRail and TfW have ‘expanded’ their areas of operation until the stock can be reskinned.
Nice mate, look forward to giving it a run. Are you creating your own liveries or using CC? For the 755 maybe use the PAK Class 720 in GA over at TS community, might be able to set it with Panto down to run on the line, would look better but hey your TT your rules
Another vote for NTP from me. It's a route with so much potential, especially now we have a reasonably wide range of era-appropriate stock. As others have said, an extension would be fantastic also - simple ones for me would be: a) Calder valley And/or b) Healey Mills (round via WKK to Leeds - creating a proper network in conjunction with the Calder Valley via Brighouse) And/or c) Liverpool direction to Fiddlers Ferry (giving freight a logical start/end point, and some fab shunting opportunities at Warrington!). Though, personally I'd love to see d) extension to Bury and a class 504 I fully agree that it'd be a superb option for the LIRR treatment!
Hoping to be able to use CC, TSC or Others reskins, once I can work out how to get them to work. No good at making them myself At present I’m just trying to get the services in and working. As they are all on different layers, I can swap trains about later if (and when) something more suitable is available. May try the 720 and see if it works without wires.
Wish I could repaint but my skills are not even at that level unfortunately.. There is an EMR 170 over at TSC, https://www.trainsimcommunity.com/m.../c110-pc-editor-creations/i5558-class-170-emr but if you reach out on the Discord maybe there might be some people with better repainting skills who might be happy to help out for a more immersive and realistic TT on ECML?
NTP. We have so much more available stock now that could run on that route, it’s criminal that it’s not received any updates.
already mentioned this in another thread. NTP for me put the class 31 in there and give or take the class 20, although it may be set a bit early unless it was done in blue any extension with in reason would be Calder valley with Heeley mills and a new 25 or 56 and a MGR wagon pushing it a bit further the Oldham loop may be an interesting one to add on to it
NTP is set in 1982 58001 appeared late 1982 in Railfreight livery, so 20s possibly appeared in 1983, so not too far away time wise. If set in 1985, you could always include the WCL 37, and GM 142 as additional trains. Having the JT Parcels stock from BPO, would allow for plenty of correct stock to appear at Victoria and Red Bank sidings. The stock for BR era is there, and more is slowly arriving in game, but it’s a case of how far do you go with using it, before you have a timetable that’s got parts that’s are unplayable for some players as they don’t have this, or that DLC.
That's not a new timetable, rather just new liveries. LUMO, Hull Trains are in game just in LNER livery. Thameslink AI is present. Northern 323s are present at Doncaster. There is enough on ECML. Liveries would be great but they should fix other routes that actually need it first.
Maybe it’s ’just a new timetable’ (so that’s why I’m on with doing one) but it’s also adding to the immersion with the EMRs reversing at Newark, Northern running through Retford low level, and having all local services at Doncaster, not just the Leeds Electrics.
Yes, but adding liveries doesn't make a new timetable. Those services exist, so the only change is the livery. The timetable stays the same regardless.
