I think you’re right about the only going for the low hanging fruit. I’ve decided if DTG don’t announce more steam traction or something like the slam door EMUs for TSW6 i am gonna move my gaming budget over to Microsoft flight simulator which I have been interested in for a while. I’ve been patient and loyal for some time but now it just seems like I buy DLC for the sake of it rather than because I really want it.

The easy option for a slam-door EMU would be a backdated timetable for BML and East Coastway with a Class 423.
Though this would follow their disappointing approach in TSC where only Southern Region slammers made it in to the game.

The far better option would be to have an NSE era route North of the Thames with a couple of types of slammers. GEML with 309, 312 and 321s (plus 86s on the Norwich services) would be the holy grail. Or LTS Rail. Or a Manchester PTE era route with a couple of units from 304s, 305s, 308s or 309s.

Why do folks on console keep whining what they can't have (i play both on pc and console) the simple truth f the matter is your expecting modern gaming pc performance out hardware that was obsolete when it launched but expecting it to be able to keep up with a PC of moderate power, most of your problems are not even related to being DTGs fault, yes DTG can be lazy in optimising stuff and squashing bugs, but i don't think you realise that a lot of the problems this game hits is because of consoles, you are basically asking DTG to fit a 747 into a Cessna hanger.
This isn't an attack on console players or an attempt to start a flame war, but please engage brain before fingers and actually analyse a problem from all side before ranting

We're complaining because why should PC players get all these benefits, while us console players - which make up a huge part of the player base - miss out.

A lot of this is still down to DTG’s lack of optimisation.

Have you noticed in which direction the screenshot shows? Seems to be in the direction of Stafford?

Looks like its facing north, inbound 390 was from Euston and the lights look similar to the image as they are not on this end

Yeah I think it’s facing north as you can see the main stairs up to the passenger overbridge on the left hand side there.

WCML Crewe to Preston I reckon. Fairly short section and it's their first DLC. Would allow route hopping and hopefully a "modern day" timetable for the JT northern section.

7 stations, would have to come with a 331 though to be worthwhile.

A class 331 or maybe a Civity pack including the diesel version would be rather useful for the Northern area lines, AI at Doncaster too.

Rolling stock isn’t consistent enough from Crewe to Preston for the 331. That only goes as far as Preston to Wigan. Personally I think that it will either be WCML Crewe to Birmingham or Wolverhampton in the 805 and maybe 350’s or 730’s (either LNWR or WMR) by the time this route is finished they will be mostly in service. Or north wales coastline with 805’s and 197’s from Crewe to Llandudno junction and Llandudno station. There could even be Crewe to somewhere on the south wales coastline with the 197’s. they could add 150’s from the Cardiff city line.

I’d love it to go to south wales, but it’s too far. I can’t seeing it just to Shrewsbury as there’s not much in the way of services. Hereford is a possibility, but again, traffic. Out of what you’ve said, I could see up to Llandudno junction as a possibility.

I think a 730 pack with both types would be a huge boost for 2 existing routes too.

They could be unbranded like the 350s. The Aventra is a modular kit train, its sounds are universal and while the 730 has the less-raked front end than the 345/710/720s, different top speeds and gangways at the end, I don't think you'd need access to a 730 to build one in TSW.

Shame DTG can't spend some time at the factory where they are being built for some sort of railway event soon. :)

From the advert: "bustling city termini to remote rural halts."

Get the impression All Aboard might be doing broader work for DTG in addition to their own route. Or it's just a general statement of their future ambitions as a studio to do different kinds of routes. It's a 12 month contract so if it's for this first route then it could be well into next year before it arrives.

I really wouldn’t read much into it it’s very generic advert and rivet we’re hiring a few months back they are still companies after all

My take on that is they announce a route before they even have a full crew to work on it. And I'm guessing it's much harder to place the track first then build the station around it in TSW than the other sims. Without the stations up and running, not much is going to get done. So really, nothing to see here at the moment!

Hot take on the bustling termini to rural halts thing, could be bringing us something like Crewe to Shrewsbury, or Crewe to Stoke/Derby.

The ad also says "Opportunities to contribute to well-known UK rail routes such as the West Coast Main Line, East Coast Main Line and beyond" so it's all pretty generic stuff.

Personally, I'd take a bustling termini to be an end-of-the-line station in a big city. Liverpool Lime Street for example (desperately trying to avoid London ones there, how did I do?)

Didn't DTG say that third party stuff only gets added to the roadmap if there is a full build to avoid stuff being on there for ages like the 104? If this is true then the route can't be that far away.

I think the Tadami line would like to talk to you, as well as the DB420 that has been on roadmaps since TSW2.

Or maybe the Santa Fe pack as well.

Or how about the MAC route that was 0-3 months away in November.

These are all small 3rd parties and sometime life happens and things change.

Well if it is Crewe to Derby would be a good choice. Just bought the Videoscene cab ride of the Longport to Redcar spoil train which does Stoke to Derby as part of its run. Quite a nice stretch.

I don't think it'd be Crewe to Manchester because that would largely be repeating Manchester Airport Commuter

Just to clear something up as well, the route is well on track to completion. We have some stuff we are ironing out quality wise but our mystery route is very much in a great place, the job advert is for team expansion on future products, hope that clears up some speculation about some things :)

Track signalling and all the environment can be laid without the stations, they can be put it at the end surely just as scenery items must be impossible to try place track around a completed station given the mm accuracy of the platform stepping distances

DTG did a live stream about station modelling a few years ago. They showed the process in TSC but I expect they use the same process in TSW. They have all the track laid and the position of the platforms modelled in the route in game and that’s all exported into external modelling software to build a full station model that can then be slotted back in when it’s done, and it should all fit nicely if it is done properly. The big stations are just one huge model, rather than all the individual platforms and buildings being built up within the game. I don’t know if it’s always done that way or if everyone does it the same way but it seemed to make sense to do it that way.

Yeah exactly that! The station is one blueprint with independent meshes within! Eg platforms a mesh, main canopy, footbridge that sort of thing but you had to have the track in your export and build around

    Looking forward to your content!

For all of TSW5s short comings, one of the upsides to this year is the amount of really good third parties coming on board, developing routes and spicing things up on what is achievable in the game.

Another decent shout for the route could be Crewe to Llandudno. They could include the class 175, and if there is an XC voyager coming with TSW6, they could reskin it into the Avanti version for the route, as well as add tilt functionality.

I can't say when it will be announced or of course what it will include but what I will say is, it will be worth the wait and the entire team has put a lot of passion and hard work into this project to make sure it can be the best visually but hopefully also very optimised.
