I don't think they will be DTG love Hyping up the new routes to guarantee good sales on release normally the secret projects are close to completion when we hear about them

I'm sure the "Desirable" teaser for the 385 was only a month later on the Roadmap they spoke about it and released the week later but because the forums had been wild with guesses and speculation the adverting was already done for it

Doubt it. Most likely just they didn't have other work that was suitable.

This was leaked on TSD's stream, we're getting FNAs!

Not really, a Class 20 is a "Type 1" in terms of power output and perfectly suited to shifting a couple of flasks around, sticking 66s (Type 5s) on there would be overkill. They had to pair them up for redundancy sake (like when that car jumped the crossing and got cleaned out by a 37, the second loco was able to shove the dead one to a suitable location - where they patched it up quickly and sent it on its way, "tis but a scratch" and all that).

Obviously the 20s and 37s have gone now so they are having to use 68s/88s and 66s in their place :(

Shame really as the Sellafield to Crewe used to throw out interesting combinations (4x20s+2x37s for instance).

So if I were to guess the Class 20 + FNA pack will operate on WCML South between Willesden and Milton Keynes since I don't see anywhere else they could run.

Maybe we're getting the Old Dalby test track.

As someone who loves the peaks, I remember being annoyed and wished they had used a 47 instead that day! :|:D

I consoled myself with the thought it wasn't a 45, which were my favourites at the time.

I know, all those dull 47s and problematic 56s and they chose a Peak. It could have been worse, a few years earlier and we could have had the worst of all sights. A Deltic being destroyed before our eyes, though I'd like to think the Deltic would win.

Yeah back in the day I would have preferred to see an HST destroyed (which were ‘destroying’ our beloved loco-hauled services) instead of a grand old girl like the 46. Like you say though, an ETH duff would have been a close second.

IIRC wasn’t there something of a fudge, as they didn’t want to risk the demonstration failing, some of the mounting bolts on the Peak were, ahem, loosened so the loco just basically folded up on impact?

Somewhat controversial though at the time as not exactly a good advert for rail travel!

These were photos for that day sent to me a few years ago by someone who was there "unofiically" lol.
These were taken by a chap called Dave Campbell.

I heard that rumour too when I was in the Safety part of BR. I've seen a Mk 1 EMU fare better against 75t crane that got stuck on a level crossing (all, including the driver escaped with minor injuries too) so it's not inconceivable that they chose a loco that was showing signs of rust.

46009 had been out of service for nearly a year and had spent winter in yards around Derbyshire, that's after spending much of its life living with the salty air of Laira. It would not have been in "peak" condition,
    See what I did there?
