Here I imagined what if a fictional Slovak transport company bought and adapted ICE1s... the carriage with burgers is the restaurant one lol... the one with Euro symbol is first class :)

Hi mate,,,you’ve been asking a few things on The Works Shed and you shared this link. So just checking your work out.

I like what your trying to do and you will get there in time I quite like this one you have done.Them teeth must have took you awhile.

Yes it’s good one. Maybe try adding a few smaller details or tone say large decals down like signs. On some you got the writing tho bang on but I personally feel the odd decal that in my opinion is not needed as it ruins the work done on the writing.

I think I know what your trying to do which is fill space by say over use of the Fox, but you can break up large areas with bold colours or the small details I told you about like seating plans or coach numbers etc.

Just a few tips and please don’t take my words as an attack or nasty criticism. Just a few pointers that I feel would make your work look better and achieve your goals:)

    Catch you in a min…..

Nice and neat. Clean work there. Well done.

at first I checked pics of original OBB RailJet, then the ČD RailJet/ComfortJet, and how the Taurus looked in those consists, and tried to emulate that in colors that are kinda typical for present ŽSSK locos/trains, with my own touch to it :)

what I kinda hate is that as you add layers from each side, sometimes little details like door handles and such dont get colored, and you have to add decals from the other side so it colors those too... kinda annoying :D ... and I would really use a snap feature if they ever add one, aligning stuff is a nightmare, especially if you are trying to replicate stuff from one side to the other or get sth bang in the middle :D

Sorry for delay mate,,,busy as hell lol.
Yes I thought you might have added those a nice touch,,as again don’t follow any European liveries so is interesting to see what’s going on in that area of work.
I see where your going tho and correct me if I am wrong. I do the same by seeing how old or existing livery could possibly look like.
It mixes things up and gives users something different from the rest.

I just find with some form of concept work or made up work doesn’t always do as well as real world liveries.
A risk one takes as I’ve had some that took me ages to do but haven’t done great. It’s hit or miss with fictional liveries.
You don’t want to be wasting hours on work that might not do well. So just another thing worth thinking about or taking in to consideration.

Okay on this as I think you may be missing a few trick or I’m underestimating your skill here. But I feel some basic tips will help here.
Correct me if I get anything wrong tho:)

With the door handles etc I think I know what you on about. Say on some models the handles you can’t cover like say some other decals built in the model.
Now with handles one can cover over then using the projection tool to allow the decal to sit flush with the handle and not touch the body. Ie not projecting it from one side to the next then unfortunately you do have to do each side by hand.
There are more complicated ways of doing handles and door recesses tho. Quite complicated to explain.
A Process done on many but here is another example of that when completed. IMG_0086.jpeg IMG_0080.jpeg
As you can see I’ve used black in the recesses that helps hide the red etc and then with white for the bars over that. Around 6 decals each side is used. (For the rear handles only tho).
A tip to help the decal fill the handle better is slight twist them but you must know this already as I can’t see any gaps in the layers on the body.

I wish there was a few things on TSW that would make life easy I’m not sure about snap,,,as the decal will snap into place when copying.
Having the ability to save grouped decals in a separate little own decals file so you can select them from each unit to the next without making them all over again. That would be cool.

What you can do is make a Jig,,,or template to mark out line of ref. Something like seen below. IMG_8662.jpeg IMG_8666.jpeg IMG_8741.jpeg Doing this can help you work with the design or shape of the body. When doing liveries one must always complement the design and flow of the unit your working on. Setting Ref lines up helps with logo alignment or numbers etc.
They should again be complementing the body so then your livery will look balanced to the eye.

Doing a Jig with a centre line and a box created so you can line up the logo or numbers bang on dead centre then. Have it mirrored too so when you copy and flip to the other side you can re align so it reflects correctly on opposite sides.

Making a quick jig helps you find reference points of the body and then see where you want things to go. Set the lines and then go from there. It can take some time just doing this but can be beneficial as it helps later on with correct positioning of decals etc and you work will look neater for it too. More sharp and clean.

    Balanced to the eye.

    Hope this helps my friend.

I will continue to do liveries on Taurus, it is literally one of the best locos IRL for all kinds of liveries, and they all look cool, like a poster on Rails :)

Regularly seeing them during my travels in Vienna and around :) I hope we eventually get RailJet, both Taurus and control cab, in TSW, they are like THE flagship of OBB IC/long distance fleet... and it is push pull highspeed train, which is rare (ACS64 in push pull looks like sh.. and the control cab is a nightmare to control :D )

Hi man don’t know how I’ve missed these. I’ve had a few missing recently.
By the sounds I assume your not in the UK then:)
You seem to know a lot about the European fleets and that and can’t blame you because they do look cool. I might give one a go myself.

Yet with most my work I like to know a little of what I’m doing so when it comes to Europe then completely goosed as I’ve mentioned before. So fair play that your work on these. It seems like the work I’ve seen on the European liveries are more better done some how over the Uk ones.
And for controls well I’ve not really got into those DLCs yet even tho I own them all. I might check them out when I find the time.

I’ll answer both here about your liveries as these are quite fancy and must say some hippie vibe there. Your not on acid are you? :).
Sorry mate just me joking around. You know what I mean tho very funky with the 3D’ish effects.

I’ve noticed you have used normal decals and say the dragon decal. I assume that’s one you get as a masters awards on KWB DLC,,,(Which ever that one may be). The combination of them works and you have placed some crazy lines that work.
They look good mate and if you feel they look right then you’ve done ya Job.

Again if these have been created from scratch company name to etc then you have done well. I like the style ya see even if not my taste I appreciate the work done here.

Sorry for missing these and hope that catch you again.
    Until then.

heh many ppl think I'm on drugs when in reality I'm just nuts, naturally :D maybe my brain has some tiny drugs factory hidden inside, who knows :D might also be that plus the fact I sometimes do this stuff when sleeping too little, staying way too late and having way too much energy drink at the same time :D

that 3D effect was purely accidental - I was trying to see what effect I could achieve by layering the same stuff over itself by changing size of some layers, and pooff this happened and I was like woah lets keep it :D

as for some of those patterns, again, I was goofing around with resizing and such things, and once I got sth that looked cool I tried to expand upon it :)

lol as for masteries, I am not really checking them, I just noticed that some stuff "appeared" in livery editor and elsewhere :D I just thought the dragon looked cool :)

this particular livery was me trying to do some cool livery using my fav color - orange (not sure when my "obsession" with orange has begun, but I suspect that in 2010 when I was rooting a lot for team Netherlands during soccer world championships then :D

anyway, thanks for cool feedback :)

well, I mostly know a lot about German and Austrian trains (plus of course a bit on Czech and Slovak; and a bit of Hungarian, since they do use a lot of German locos and such)... aka the stuff I have grown to love cos of this game and what I have seen during my travels around Vienna and such :)

UK does have some cool trains, especially those modern Pendolino-like speedsters, and some newer classes of Electrostar-like EMUs... cos a lot of them look like subway trains or as I like to call em milkboxes on rails :D ... UK signalling is kinda heh, so I play those when I want more relaxed experience :D

Hi Buddy:) Your lucky I’ve caught me but seeing you but such funny remarks I can’t help having a few quick laughs me self.

But as a keen adventurer myself if only dipping my toes in the water I understand your cryptic message unless I’m the one who is tripping lol.

And speaking as one that has abused his body clock to the extent I don’t know what time of day it is understands the sleep situation,,,yet can I just say energy drinks are not gonna do ya no favours my friend.

Hope I can speak freely but man you don’t need them,,,my friend was addicted and one day his body gave in. He lost loads of weight too.
We worked on the coaches and on the return from Salou he passed out a short stop in Calais. A place called Cite Europe. I’d get my beers from Carrefour. Massive place it was. But yes he passed out because he used them to keep him up working thought the night as trolly doll and looking after the passengers.

So yes me personally I’d stay of them:).

This is what I was on about with the messing around to. You get to find by doing so you stumble on something you’d never really think of really. And by the sound your happy with what came out a messing around.

As I say what you have done are quite different and wouldn’t be out of place say on a Indian loco. Simple shapes but used effectively for effects. And those extra decals from Mastery must help. I know they do me.

And for colours I can see why you like orange so much. Not a football fan myself, I’m more in to F1 or BTCC.
Well was before TSW took over my life.

But you will find you have a favourite colour or even a few different shades or colour palette that mix well.
I’ll continue on your other posts…..

Hello okay I get you now,,,that must be a cool place to be. I’ve seen a few videos of German locos etc and I must say I’m more impressed with the infrastructure than anything.
With working abroad a few years ago I seen say the TGV network and some if it’s infrastructure as I traveled south from Calais to say Orange then deep down into French Riviera. Cannes and Nice.
The tunnels and viaducts are pretty impressive.

Funny how you should mention the Pendolino or the Class 390 we call it. The underpinnings of that or the introduction of the tilt system was born from early uk tests experimental trains such as the APT E and the the Prototype APT put in to operation to help with funding.

So you’ll know that yes the Class 390 is a UK train but not from a government source in the UK to use say Brush Traction of the top of me head.
Something that changed with privatisation as new companies such as Virgin could look else where for newer technologies such as Siemens or Alstom. So Alstom A French and Italian company..the latter under Alstom Fiat Ferroviria sorry for spelling there.
Not a uk train as such even tho it was built in a old car warehouse in Washwood Heath. Birmingham UK. I’d see them too from the M6 as we passed up from Dover to Northwest of England. Warrington near Manchester and Liverpool.

These was built to get rid of the aging boxes you speak off like the Class 86, 90s and Rakes of Mk2s and MK3s rolling stock left over from BR.

Anyway I’ll have to go,,,kids mate.

Good work tho,,,hope to catch ya soon my friend:)

heh speaking of Indian railways, they are downright loons lol... like, a loco and like 24 or 26 coaches? :D with that much weight it is impressive some of those can do 160 km/h :D

Indeed they are,,,yet with there networks passengers can enjoy the fresh air and on board cooking any time of night. A cramped environment for that close community feeling with live music and Entertainment. For those on the move a hop to hop service is available for those that want a quick interchange between trains services on the MOVE. That’s right no need for stopping just use our friendly open door carriages for ease of access. There is no risk involved and can save that much needed time so you can enjoy your day.

Thank you for Travelling with India Loona Railway.

    Have a Nice Day;). Lol.

Man they are crazy for some passengers it’s a shocking experience too.
There Locos are amazing too as they can do Bunny Hops over weak Bridges;)
Some are still learning tho and often over do it and jump off track,,,unfortunately turning hundreds of people into test dummies.

With Joking aside tho when things go wrong they go wrong very badly indeed. The speeds they travel at and the amount on board the roofs even the locos passengers are like ants. So don’t leave much to the imagination to think whats gonna happen if things go wrong. And unfortunately with such locos and infrastructure even tho they are bringing more modern technologies and fleets to the network things do go wrong and with dyer consequences.

So Yep I agree they are of there heads man.

    Catch ya again.

on some of the busiest corridors they already put in place a rule that doors must be closed before departing - I believe trains like Vande Bharat and Gatimaan do that... there are casualties every single day, they do not even stop a train if sth like that happens... but, they are getting better, gradually

and as for freight, on some corridors they run US-style stacked heavy freight trains with ELECTRIC locos, those have insanely tall pantographs haha :D sometimes for the joke I send a video of that to those who say that electrification in US wouldnt be good cos they wouldnt be able to run those stacked heavy freights :D

It’s about time,,,and thanks for the names I don’t follow it much but do kind have an interest mixed traffic around the world,,,like India. Don’t know it’s something strange and weird about Indian railways I like. Can’t put my finger on it.

Yes funny how you should bring that after me learning about RA and Loading Gauges say for UK networks.
Say the Electrification of the ECML when putting that infrastructure in that has to knock out bridges you name it to fit the over equipment in.

As you know doubt know that the US and the UK has a old lay out or infrastructure,,,the US is in a very poor state. Again I’m no expert but they are trying to but in high speed links between city’s like Boston and New York with some done near links from Tuscan north to Reno to help service the outer Las Vegas with San Francisco,,and the corridors to Los Angeles. I watch a video about the state of US networks.

So when it comes to fright using these direct links if they pass through major cities in which they will how are they can find the room for that high equipment as you mentioned and double stacked containers.

But what ever they do they need to fix basic first,,,everyday there is some derailment or worse like not long back which can have long effecting consequences on the locals an surrounding areas for years to come. The NTSB has a lot on its hands.

There Rail and Transportation infrastructure is falling apart and no major investment since the great highway infrastructure was done back in the 50s. I wouldn’t like to be in the US for commuting be road or rail or air.
Roads are bad the networks bad and Boings 737s and 737 Max are dropping from the sky or falling apart mid flight. MCAS nice one Boing. All to save on crew training.

Anyway I’ll stop there before I ramble on again:)
    Catch ya soon mate.

Is that based on an actual unit or not? Because 4124 has a switch for Hungarian EVM120 in addition to the currently equipped PZB90 and Sifa. Other units might have a Czechoslovakian Mirel

not sure, I havent really met a 4024/4124 unit with destination in Hungary - only CityJet ones around Vienna, which might be 4124 or just repainted 4024, not sure :)

I once took this one from Wiener Neustadt to Vienna, line S60, via Pottendorfer Line, very cool :) they are not as superfast as Desiro ML CityJets, but just as nimble :) and I love the livery, thats why I emulated it :)

working now on Munchen Augsburg BR 403 ICE 3 livery, again trying to visualize how such a train would look like if Slovak ZSSK ever took delivery of those :D so it will be mostly a combination of white and red colors :)

a note about the Ukraine-themed liveries - the fact that we cannot save and transfer complex shapes is a huge pain... even creating flags like UK, the Ukrainian trident (which is a HUGE pain in the exhaust to do every time)... sunflower is complex, but at least relatively simple to do, just has many steps and layers to it :)

also, here are HSV color values for anyone interested:

    Ukrainian flag:

    Blue - 210, 100, 72
    Yellow - 52, 100, 100

    UK flag:
    Dark blue - 220, 99, 41
    Red - 348, 92, 78
    White - 0, 0, 100

Boo I remember these. I was speaking to someone not long ago and I thought he did these. No wonder they hadn’t a clue what I was on about.

I have been wanting DTG to add a save function so we can save logos an to use on what loco we wish.

Anyway I’ll catch you again just dropping something off at the Rail 200 Thread:)

    - inscriptions commemorating the day I had first purchased Train Sim World 2 aka January 8th 2021 (when driving direction Aachen) and today aka May 4th 2025 (when driving direction Koln)

    - main color of the EMU is Dutch orange (HSV 36, 100, 100)
    - other colors featured in the decals are various skin tones and blood color tones
    - sub-theme of the intermediate coaches:
    1) Ukraine-themed bottom lining, a custom brain decal + "Sanity saver" inscription
    2) Ukraine-themed bottom lining, The cake is a lie inscription + cake stock image
    - doors are black with red "teeth"
    - used sun and DTG logo stock images to fill some spaces :)

Nice work. I bet those details on the door took a while. Even though I prefer UK content, this has been well made :)

usually the custom decals take most of the time... like that "logo" :) custom letters and especially the hand that squeezes the heart :D ... and the brain was kind of pain to give it at least approximate shape of a cartoon brain :D

but creating this was fun, definitely going to drive it a lot :) ... tho one thing this livery made clear to me - the fonts available in the editor suck most of the time, they just look so plain and rarely make a livery better... so in order to give inscriptions some additional bling, one has to resort to creating custom letters, which can be a pain :D

I mean, I like some of the details on previous liveries, but so far IMHO BR 146.2 FTF version Ukraine livery has the best flow... maybe I will do a slightly modified version where I replace the simple sunflower decal with a more detailed one, like those on recent liveries :) ... kinda too bad we cannot select liveries for a complete consist, otherwise I would definitely create also a matching livery for the dostos and the dosto cab car... cos there are only few things more striking in the world of train liveries than a nice loco with dostos + cab car and all in matching nice livery, like this one:
    upload_2025-5-4_14-22-4.jpeg
I mean, CityJet livery by itself is simple but yet so cool, and on trainsets such as these it rocks :)

I would also do some 1116 liveries, but I am waiting for DTG to either fix some minor inconsistencies on the loco or plain release a new, better version :D

Yeah the fonts aren't great. Especially when you type the word "class". I won't directly into the Ukraine liveries just so we stay out of politics. What I will say though is your sunflowers look great. For my own personal work, when I'm not working on train designs, I occasionally work with flowers. Drawing, painting, etc... I'm genuinely impressed by how you managed to use the decals provided to make one :D

well, here is a little and a bit vague walkthrough how I am making those:
    1. I start with a circle, give it a bright color so it doesnt get lost in layers
    2. Copy the first circle, dont move it, just scale it up (once you start the petals, it is good for reference
    3. I use the "eye" shape for petals, make em slightly longer than the bigger circle
    4. I select the "square" shape and make it into a slightly thicker line from one end of the eye shape to the other
    5. As for colors, I use the yellow from Ukrainian flag (52, 100, 100) for the big petals, and then I look for a nice shade of dark orange, slightly into brown
    6. Once I have one, I copy it and put it on the opposite, both touching in the middle
    7. Then I group the two together, and each time I copy them, I rotate them slightly, until they fill the circle
    8. Once this is done, I group the whole thing, copy it, slightly rotate it so the second thing has petals in between
    9. Now the tedium begins - you have to manually go into each layer and change the colors lol
    10. Once thats done, group this together, copy it and then scale it down until the petals are only slightly bigger than the smaller circle... you might have to shuffle these big groups of shapes until they overlap like on the pic I copied here (that I use for reference)
    11. Now you bring the small circle into the forefront and give it slightly darker hue than the dark petals
    12. From shapes, you select the "eye" shape, but this time only the outline one
    13. Give it even darker hue, almost into brown and scale it so the points touch the outside of the small circle
    14. Copy it and rotate it so there is slight gap each time... repeat until the circle is filled
    15. Now you will see a hole in the middle... group those eye shapes together, copy it and scale it down... you might need to do this one or two times, dont remember, sorry :D
    16. Now you can remove the bigger circle, as you no longer need the reference
    Woalla :D

It is super tedious, but fun :D Wish I could just save it and reuse it, but well, it isnt so much pain as trying to do some flags/symbols and such, as all shapes are fairly regular, fit nicely with each other and dont require much aligning... since it is a flower, even if you screw up one or two rotations, the irregularity wont really matter, as it is... a flower :)))

Sunflower is of the easier ones to do... creating the IDF logo, which is a bunch of intertwined olive branches with leaves, now that was some major pain in the pantograph :D
