Down at the Paint Shop with Bern and I don’t think we’re going to get this one done:/

Can’t show you any full pictures. Saving for the big reveal, if we get passed this.
A load of work to be done, rivets will be a issue amongst other things

45 Decals left!.

So a question. You have got this far, place yourself in my Shoes. You have no redundancy left. What would you do?.

Hint, It was already fully detailed before I started.

heh, seeing the layer count and remembering that sunflower I made, that one has like almost 100 layers itself lol, so it is suitable mostly for locos or units where you dont put many other more complex shapes like that

 

I'd suggest reviewing the amount of decals you've used already and try to condense some of them into larger shapes, and then using other decals to mold them into the shape you want. That's similar to what I did with the LNR logo, just without reaching the decal limit. I can give you a guide if you need, but just see what you have for now.

I can see why that would be the case, as you have them down to a T. And what I do when setting out is have a set number for a livery.
So could be 25 to 30 decals to do a base F59, rails etc. The basics. That leaves a load of decals available, so can be adventurous with them.

I pushed in the 300 limit in the past meaning I had to squeeze every last decal, been doing the same with the 1000 limit.
Yet I’ve now reached a point in most liveries I do because I’ve squeezed the best I can out of the decals when dealing with the basics.
Meaning it’s messing around time or decision time.

Yes you to are right in some ways.

I don’t ever feel I need to do that now as I work efficiently with the decals anyway. I am not frivolous with the decals. I put each one to good use from the start. I squeeze the best I can like I’ve just explained to razmatus#2517

Basics then work efficiently as you go. It’s why I do most liveries twice as I will play around first see how things look and by keeping them that way how much decals would it leave me. So yes I’d do that in testing stages but not on the main work. That’s all done by working efficiently with decals on the basics. Saving time looking to pull work apart.

Redundancy. What Redundancy is basically building extra decals in as a back up.
I studied a lot about Aircraft design and redundancy is part of the design incase of any Electrical or Hydraulic failures.
More to it than that but there sound be some redundancy built in to allow the Pilots to deal with the onboard systems. Or what a flight manual will say.

So by making a few duplicates of a logo then I feel more pressure to squeeze harder. If I start running out then no need to waste time pulling work apart. Just delete a duplicate logo and save 30 decals or so I’m one hit.

Put I’d reached that point and completely exhausted all other options.
Now my work is super detailed meaning I had 112 decals on this.
So what matters most this or the main art piece.

I saved a load of decals without wasting time pulling work apart. One sec a problem shorted.

Work the problem before a problem works you.

Because like Aircrafts then you don’t have time to work the problem out, the problem is working you.
Yet redundancy saves time and takes away any problem solving a crew maybe faced with if they don’t know what the problem is.
One switch and the system will do the rest.

And why, well all that decisions making on possible components or in flight failures are made on the ground.
Not in emergencies when time is precious.

It’s a time saving exercise

So your right but your way would waste time and also add pressure frustration, or even the potential in failing to get passed a problem.

Don’t make life (Edit) hard. Build in redundancy, and when all options have been exhausted.
Well then it’s a case of making decisions that can result in success or failure.
Hopefully I took the right decision to delete the data plate.

If I'm lucky, I'll be able to get this out this afternoon. I've added some extra details that aren't in the photo, but the only other thing that is needed is safety decals and the Rail 200 logo. Maybe more post-release but other than that, it's finished. I'll just need to push back my application to later. I won't give a time this time so I don't rush it.

 

One thing at a time. If your livery needs attention then give it that. Finish, then focus on the next Job.

It’s why I am not holding a meeting due to what you’re doing. But I do need to pick this project up soon to keep to the original idea, and so when your done and myself then I can get the Team together.

heh seeing 158 here reminded me I am intending to do a Stitch-themed 158 for MML ... checked how he/she (not sure whether that cute alien is a boy or girl or whatever it is) looks and it should be doable within the editor ... I am thinking Stitch like almost being blown away by the wind, tongue flapping back as a dog would when sticking its head through a window, and yelling weeeeeeee ... sth nice, joyful, playful for once lol

 

I’ll answer both in one. I am still messing around at home, so I will expand more at the meeting.
I’d like to complete 43 825 off. I feel once we have a set then MK3s can be looked at as original planned.

Due to the past situations I am sure we all have something to say and each member will be given a chance.

If you both could explain your long term strategies in relation to here or with you own threads, then I must hear this.
I need to know before I make long term plans myself.

My Son did a Rick and Morty theme on His Cars in the game The Crew Motorfest . He did play TSW LD, yet sadly gave in.

I was messing around with this theme for Learners. But got banned from Reddit for click baiting. Yet I made it perfectly clear what I was doing. Asking a hypothetical question. Motorfest Driving school?
Even a Mr Bean racing Car. Or my Racing Team name. A pun on Been Racing, Bean Racing. I’d love to do more crazy themes like you say in TSW5. But don’t due to copyright grounds.

That’s something I would consider if loading on to CC. As for personal use that’s fine.

Can I just add that I’m breaking my own rules here as this thread is dedicated to Rail 200.

That's a topic I also wish to discuss with Bernard now I'm working under him at the Paint Shop. I'm unsure of whether I may need to use a specific format for titles, etc... but we can discuss that at a later date.

Sure, I did go into it slightly so I guess I'll talk about my commitments and future commitments to the projects. I'll do that now seeing how I've just released the 158. I'll add some info and screenshots to the Print Shed tomorrow.

(RPO) Hahaha. I wish, and for Both. Wonder how easy it would be to increase these at short notice if DTG could come to the aid of The R200 Team Project?.

I set out to recreate the best I can and for us as a Team, yet this decal limit is hindering what I create.
Can we the community put pressure on DTG to increase these, I know I’m not the only one that would welcome the increase.

Many are pushing the boundaries, if we had say 300 to 500 extra I’d say that’s fair on short notice.
Come on DTG, look at what’s happening.

Please I feel the community needs that increase, I’d also love for GBRTT be able to help and assist you so you can assist us the community.
If it’s a National Event how come we have nothing here?.

I hope I don’t speak out of terms when I say I’m sure others would love to participate here, but do some struggle with the Railway 200 logo.
If so how is that enjoying or even celebrating the Railway 200 event on TSW.

Oh and currently you’re not on any TSLP Team as such even tho you are. You are currently on the R200 Team as TSLP Paint Shop Team member working on R200.
The TSLP Is the place that does all work, so many projects.

We have the open community 390 Project still to be finished. (No movement)
The HOOKHAUL UK Contract.
And the RAILNEX Contract.
Then this the R200 Project, the one you’re currently on. (R200 Team) as TSLP Paint Shop Team.

So yes technically you are a TSLP Team member but on the Project title R200.
This is only so it’s clear to all as to what part of the TSLP Team you’re working on based on allocated position/positions.
Ie you would be placed on one or more projects. So if you’re HOOKHAUL Group Quality test is passed you will be working for TSLP Paint Shops as both R200 Team and HH Contracts or RAILNEX Teams.

You are currently part of the R200 Project Team. Under the TSLP name, not for it. If this makes sense.
Again this is for clarification on what position or Project you have as allocated too.
You’re still a TSLP Team member but on a SET Project Team Title.

All this will be made clear in your Welcome pack, you can also discuss with Bernard at any point during your application to request working on the HH, RN Contract.

Try replicating the best you can looking at what you see.
Me and speedfreak shown each other a picture and that was it really. So here I am interested in your ability to do what you can do.
See something and replicate it. Don’t go crazy trying to make a livery for publication.

It’s a quality test that Bernard is overseeing that’s all.
When and if you pass then Bernard will provide you the full information based on the company group order books.
As I say some short while ago is I have looked at your files on past work including the knowledge and experience you have. Be for R200 or more your own work.

You can make livery’s fine, that’s not a concern. We would like to see if you can work on your own with no direction from Bernard or myself.
This is down to our individual positions within the HOOKHAUL Group of Companies and the challenges we face on a day to day operational basis. Why we are recruiting for this very specific reason. Staffing and resources.

The company is expanding and so require the relevant employees with the right skills and expertise who can help us, the company reach the targets or future forecast, while retaining our ability to be flexible but without any expenses to where quality is concerned. Quality is a key component of the company’s mission.

So for us to make the right choice for the company, it’s imperative any applicate meets those standards and is able to show adaptability, work on their own under pressure.

To clarify to you in what been mentioned today is that all this is regarding your HH, RN application to moved or have any extra positions within the HH Group as you are currently part of TSLP Paint Shops, under the R200 project title.

I do hope that by me sending this information it will clear up any questions you may or may not wanted to ask Bernard.

Hmmm. I'd say it could do you some good. Some of the other members may understand what you're going through like you to me. Plus it might help relieving some of your past anyway. When I did, it felt like a weight had been lifted somehow, bit by bit. I guess you also have to trust that person though. But I'm sure you can understand what I mean. But everyone is different.

Before I go, I’d like to a big Thanks to everyone that’s helped, including my Team.
Yet I feel I owe Jplayz an apology.

Why?, Me and my Big Mouth, and having too much confidence thinking I could get this livery completed easy.
Well I take my words back Jplays. I was to cocky with this one, really lucky to see it as it is.
I had redundancy built in, exhausted those, then I had to delete the rear Data plate.
And still ran out as seen late last night.

That was without all writing both sides. I needed at least 120 or so decals to finish this livery.
It’s been one of my hardest liveries to do, I mean that. Eaten decals up like PAC Man on Acid.

But enough of all that. The point I want to make is Jplayz you was right. My backs up worked yet still ended up pulling my work apart to find and squeeze more out. I was to cocky and Pig headed.

So yes someone taught me a lesson today.
I’m not Mr Know it All.
My Creator. Maybe as I say this was way harder than I expected. I said what I said to you, and I was taught a lesson.
They made me work from half five this morning to around half hour ago.

Not again, so hoping when I move on to more modern traction like Mallard for example then fingers crossed they’ll be kind to me next time

So yep, I hope by seeing this today you will be surprised as I was to finally cross the line.
I’d celebrate to myself but no time for that. Next ones now.
