If they consider to do this what it would focus on? I hope vehicles (in germany we have the cars freight trains) special cargo, wood racks, grain or refriged containers ( if all those thing are part of UK freight)
Someone found a layer for Nuclear within the new Intermodal timetables, so probably a safe bet we will see that next, hopefully packaged with the rumoured DRS Class 20.
My favourite idea for a new cargo line pack would be some translator wagons, they would probably add the most gameplay and could go on the most amount of routes. Some other things wagons I think would be cool are: Cattle or livestock wagons Torpedo wagons Motorail wagons
Whatever comes next, I hope it subs / adds into the existing timetables rather than creating a separate one. Echo sentiment about a new freight loco - the freight liner class 70 looks pretty cool imo - would be nice to see
We already know the details of the next two packs: Cargo Line 4 is Warwell Wagons with Army Loads Cargo Line 5 is Nuclear to include the DRS Class 20
If skyhook considers the german market there is an extremely large hole for modern cargo wagons too. Especially vol.3 intermodal showed that unbranded containers look incredible and we only have 3 or 4 different ones for germany. Not to mention we dont have a third party which stands for quantity which is extremely important to fill these holes. Especially cargo wagons do not need to be a high quallity as long as they are on the same level as the stock DTG offers. Since DTG seems to avoid new cargo stock we have to hope for teams like Skyhook to do that. If not Skyhook maybe TSG makes some with the 232 or the TSC third party RSSLO still silent about anything despite being listed as an official TSW 3rd party for a year now. Just saying that it will definitely pay out for Skyhook to take a look at options. I dont mind 3 new similar versions of the 185.2 and maybe some DB reskins for them.
I believe that Skyhook have/are looking into Germany, they have already worked with VTG that operates across Europe, so it feasible that they could introduce a VTG branded Cargo Line pack with freight services covering a couple of the appropriate German routes.
The reason why the timetables were copied is that the original ECML and WCML timetables Intermodal trains were replaced with joint FKA/FCA consists, instead of just all being FKA wagons. You cant do that on a single timetable. If someone (and yes there are people that wont) doesnt buy the DLC then to force an update to a timetable to someone that doesnt have the DLC , wont work. So that why there is the extra timetable. Nothing worng with that to be honest. Just because DTG has the liscence for Freightliner does not mean that it stretches to any other 3rd party. Hence one reason why you do not see Branded ONE, Hamburg Sud & Hapag Lloyd containers on the recently released EWS FCA containers. Think of it as most licenses are not transferable. If you notice Rivets ONE liveried Class 66 has not Freightliner branding on it (although it doesnt have Freightliner or Gensee & Wyoming Branding on it in real life). What it does have on the side is the Zero Injuries logo which is a Freightliner brand (now Gensee & Wyoming). The rivet model for TSW does not have this branding on due to the fact that its branded to Gensee & Wyoming (ex. freightliner). This is why you still have the EWS branded (electric shock poster) in the cab. Hentis
Log trains are pretty popular for spotters here in the UK. For a modern route would need Colas motive power - 56 or 70 is usually used - but would be viable on the 1980s/90s routes.
I sure hope thats true and i believe many other share this opinion. Sadly Skyhook wont talk about this before anything is on the roadmap so if they scrap the plans we would never know.
Cars/Vans, such as the ones coming from Dagenham - if they’re still relevant. Logs and Forestry, such as the ones running from Aberystwyth on 37’s. Class 325 (Postal) in generic livery and updates to the relevant routes it can layer onto.
Some US ones are needed, including military, auto, ethanol, coal, oil, grain, cement, and of course, a UP Rocket Booster Train for Sherman Hill (yes, that is a real train!). I also want a BNSF Boeing Fuselage Train with a Pacific NW BNSF Stevens Pass/Scenic Sub route.
For Germany routes... I believe we need more different variety of tank cars! Looking on YT videos, they are really interesting about different colors, sizes, etc. VTG is already licensed by DTG, so there are chances of more type of freight cars. Of course, containers are already OK, as there are different size and 3 licensed container brands: Hamburg Sud, Hapag Lloyd and One
If they run on a route in game (matching the in game route timeframe) I'd love to see cargo line packs with the 37/7 or a 37/5. Skyhook could, once the DRS 20 releases, look at an updated RHTT pack with the 20/66 across more of the routes the current one doesn't layer to. some forestry or automotive rakes would add some flavour to the already quite nice UK freight rolling stock. Not sure if it would be considered 'Cargo Line' but even a ECS drag focused pack might be a cool touch - you could use the 37/7 and add a barrier wagon (remodel a BG) and add then you've got room for scenarios/timetable runs dragging the 700/710/350/390/378 without having to do anything but remodel a BG and some timetable shenanigans.
Was thinking the same about this, could be done on WCMLS whit class 710. One scenario/services Is likely you have to drag 710 to Wembley depot to start replacement of 378 Overground
Honestly, there is so much UK stuff that can be done I would rather Skyhook just concentrated on UK stuff and let other developers work on the overseas stuff
Some freight types I can think of for future packs: ECS Barrier Coach - Quite a few options to choose from here in terms of locations or variants. One that jumps to mind could be used on the GWE remaster pulling the FGW HST coaches, or in fact anywhere for coach drags. Could feature new ROG Class 37s, perhaps the /6 in their blue ROG livery. Maintenance/Engineering Trains - Could feature the chopped down JNAs in yellow, as per Network Rail examples. Could we see Skyhook modify a 47 into a Colas 57? The JNAs would be an easy job to modify so it would leave plenty of dev time for such a conversion I would imagine, plus this could perhaps finally give us a 66 alternative. Lumber - Many have mentioned this already. Another opportunity for the Colas 57. RHTT Expansion/Weedkilling - This admittedly would be a bit of a bigger one, but I'm just spit balling the idea here. Containing the older style weedkilling train and new variants of the 20 (and maybe 37?) to go with it. These new locos also come with compatibility to use on RHTT trains from the SEHS pack. Drainage - This one I recognise might be the least likely to ever happen, as from what I know it would likely depend entirely on whether or not Balfour Beatty wants to license a train sim product and it wouldn't surprise me at all if the answer was no. Obviously would come with the drainage cars and the Class 20s.
Reskin the Skyhook HST and we have ourselves a flying banana! A virtually go anywhere train with much potential Stretching the definition of cargo perhaps, but if a 158 is a loco then all things are possible
So they have the GWR license back, and Liam mentioned the opportunity of having 'older' liveries... Makes this feel quite possible I think.
Believe it or not there is Cargo Vol 5 i the pipe line & it was leaked during the April road -map by one of the DTG team who Quickly had to stop himself i shall not mention any names
Based on the layer selector, the Class 20 and FNA nuclear wagons are supposed to run (at least) on WCML South and MML. If I see it correctly, they could also run as AI through Ashford, because of the Dungeness nuclear power plants. But based on the map available on this page, there is a lot of nuclear stuff going on in the UK. https://www.gov.uk/guidance/the-uks-nuclear-history Skyhook (in its previous incarnation) has made the BR 187 for Cologne-Aachen with scenarios and timetable services hauling logs. That would be my bet for Vol. 6.
I'd just like to see some of the locos we already have in different liveries, perhaps an EWS/DB 08 or 37.
Now I think about it, when did we last see one of the 112 different Class 66s released in EWS livery, rather than DB Cargo?
Cargo Line volume 2 IIRC. Mind, at that point there was only one version in DB livery - the original from GWE.
