I wonder if for those who haven’t bought it yet that maybe the route might increase in price to £30?

I opted to pass on the original, not because it was short or incomplete, but because of the type of route: electric toy train, bus stop gameplay, linear A to B running.

I'm happy for players who have the route getting the extension they asked for. And I'm full of admiration for this developer. But it's still the same kind of route that DTG has been peddling for the last couple of years and still not my cup of tea.

DTG need to start thinking outside this box they're in. We need steam and freight as well as commuter rail.

If anyone wants an in depth cab ride and commentary to get some route familiarity of the whole line, I think you'll enjoy the video!

While it is another Class 66 I would say the most underrated part of this route at the moment is the freight services you can play. Most runs require a lot of weaving through traffic so you have to be ready for reds. The runs to Stratford also allow you to arrive at different platforms than the Overground services. I just completed one that had a nice parallel arrival with a Greater Anglia service.

Will Johannes fix the three stations begore Willesden Junc where the platforms connect to each other but are sealed ff from the ourside world ... no where to leave, no where to come from ( exceot thenother platform) NOT for player access necessarily, just for barest station realism in a tran World ...

I think the OP is confusing TSW with another game? lol.
    Freight, Steam, commuter?
90% of all dlc is commuter.
75-80% of all dlc has freight included.
    Steam is dead! (Non-Profitable).

Outside of USA/Canada, are there all that many ‘Freight Only’ lines
Same could be asked of ‘Passenger, but no commuter or freight’ lines in Europe.
We get 90% commuter because that’s roughly the percentage in reality, with most of them having some freight traffic.
Even a main line has commuter traffic at some point - the ECML has local traffic London-Peterborough, EMR at Peterborough & Doncaster, Northern & TPE at Doncaster, York & Newcastle.

What we need is Dovetail to work with the community and get routes upgraded.

I’m sure that if they were to be paid for their time, plenty members of the community that have already shown that they can produce good, full timetables would be willing to do this again for other routes.

The ECML with a full timetable of Cross Country, Thameslink, LUMO, Hull Trains, Grand Central, LNER, Northern, EMR, TPE & Freight would be lovely, even if some ‘artistic licence’ was used as regards types of trains used on each service.

All of those are in game (mostly).

Lumo, Hull Trains, Grand Central, and TPE (1 892 ECS move) are all there, disguised as LNER 801s. The EMT 158 for the EMR services, and the 323 for Northern services (only to Leeds, services to Hull/Scunthorpe/Sheffield/Adwick are not there).

Can't say they don't exist, they do, they're just all LNER 801s.

Non-Profitable because they stopped making it. Start making it again with 3rd parties also, in turn attract the TSC players over and it could be profitable.

No, it didn’t sell that well. That’s why they stopped making it.
Loyal TSC players would never abandon that game though, it’s just too good for steam content.
The other problem is Matt admitted that they couldn’t get the physics right, would you be happy with a blotched job of a locomotive?
I remember people being very vocal about how bad the physics were too, when SOS launched.

I find the physics on the Jubilee and 8F aren't too bad. I'm no expert on steam physics, but they seem realistic enough to me.

I am happy with the steam locos we currently have and I would happily pay for more.

Off topic, but of all the past and present locomotives that could be studied for source material, surely steam is the most, and affordably, accessible?

Maybe the issue wasn’t replication visually, or mechanically, but just getting the personality of a furnace on wheels correct, and all the possible characteristics of it!

I'm happy other people are starting to notice this, most stations on the BML back in TSW2 had this issue so I'm disappointed to see it back in TSW5. What makes this even more frustrating is that stations like Hampstead Heath and Homerton have fully modelled entrances and exits, so I'm not sure why other stations were had just the platforms modelled. Highbury and Islington is very disappointing as well, the ticket hall area is not modelled which makes the scene of no passengers even worse. West Hampstead also needs updating as it is shown on the route as how it looked about 7 years ago. I hope this is looked at asp because this route has so much potential.

I regret that they haven't made courses only to Clapham Junction, even fictionally. There's a nice holding platform there, the one where we maneuver when entering the depot. Things like that annoy me, the whole point of the simulation is the full train run. It's good that the author will extend the route, great news!

I’m not an expert so I wouldn’t notice if the steam physics were on point or missing some critical element, that would make someone who’s more educated on steam to cry wolf.

I also didn’t find anything wrong with the steam trains, I thought they operated/performed as expected. Even though steam isn’t really my thing I still enjoyed my time with it.

I‘m super happy with the extension announcement. Richmond is more appealing to me than the other branch as we haven’t really ventured into that corner of London in TSW yet. I genuinely think this will increase the sales of the route a lot, as many users had the opinion “looks great, but I want an end-to-end run” at release (including myself). I hope the numerous bugs are taken care of as well. If all of that happens, it will be very difficult to resist a purchase once the extension comes out.

And at the same time actually finish the DLCs before releasing them!

I know this may sound a bit mad, but I would love to see both existing LO routes merged like in TSC.

It would allow for some great freight runs between Wembley Freight Yard and Dagenham Docks. I think the Class 86 would be a very welcome addition, probably in FL green. Tap changers + varied signalling, what is there not to love?!

If only DTG had the ability to add this feature for people who own the existing routes. The same could be said for Glasgow to Edinburgh and Fife.

Or BML and ECW, RSN and RSO, Reisa to Dresden to Chemnitz, Worchester to Boston to Providence, Barstow to San Bernardino to Los Angeles to Lancaster, Carlisle to Preston to Blackpool and Trenton to NY Penn to Hicksville or Long Beach.

Lots of connections if they could.

I think the issue with 'connecting' routes is, for example ECW and BML, you'd need three seperate routes. The BML, ECW and the two merged as a 3rd complete route.

You would need to make a seperate 3rd route to account for players who own one but not all the 'parts' of the completed route - you'd then also need to sell that seperate routes to recoup the development costs. I don't know too many players who would pay another $45/$55 for a route/s they technically already own.

Otherwise you'd have a situation where people who own one part but not all parts would be unable to play any of the parts at all (merge existing routes into a mega route) - spending Dev time making a seperate version of the routes merged into one, that players would need to re buy (discounts not withstanding that's not ideal - or you link them by adding a route hop markers so it's a-la-carte.

Ideally you'd also want to fix longstanding core issues before undertaking such a large task as "merging routes" - let's have empty trains in depos and routes that don't crash on current gen first

Remember the years and eras need to match. A lot can change in a couple of years. Then you have to basically remake both dlcs to use the same graphics and tsw standards otherwise it just looks odd. Then signaling has to be redone, timetable remade, et
