    Hi everyone,

I'm currently working on a livery project for the Class 350/1 units, specifically recreating them in Train Sim World. I'm trying to get the colours as accurate as possible, but I'm struggling to find the correct colour codes.

Would anyone happen to know the exact colours used for:

The main bodywork (the silver/grey part)

The green/teal sections (around the doors and the ends)

I've tried using colour pickers from photos, but it always ends up either too bright, too blue, or slightly off compared to the real trains.
If anyone knows the official colour names or hex codes. Thanks!! *Note I attatched a photo of the train livery in question.*

    Hey there,
I'll send you the codes when I can. Feel free to contact me if you need other advice with the LNR livery. I'll post some more photos shortly for inspiration :) There is one unrealistic section (the Rail 200 logos and advertising in place for the LNR logo), but the other carriages are made to look like the real things. To be honest, from what I've seen, you could probably use what you have already (with some modifications) to make a Silverlink 350 (what the 350s were in before London Midland repainted them).

If I may drop a quick comment in-particular to photos and lighting.
You will find during different months and times in the game will effect the LRV so the tone of shade will be off.
Then for photos using photos is not always the best solution due to filters used ages and degradation of the photo.

So I go and use model forums for reference. You will find that the green you’re looking for has been used in the past.
Yet modern paints are completely different from that of old, how the pigmentation etc of the chemical compounds.

In the past different depots had a mix of suppliers, and each paint shop had there own idea of that shade.
So when that staff member would mix then it was to what he perceived as that shade.
No standard codes until BS codes came in to effect. Add the effects of weathering under coats etc then older colours will have many variables and why it’s hard to find a correct colour match because there was never a standard one to begin with.

Like I say tho modern paints are completely different, so remain bright and fresh looking for longer. Cost saving.
I was like looking for green for correct shade of Apple green.

My Apple Green but it’s known as something else but can’t remember of the top of my head. IMG_7692.jpeg IMG_7694.jpeg So yes just a little information about using photos. And the differences between Old and Modern Paints.
I asked the same question here but not much joy so try model forums if you ever get stuck or give us a shout.

Jplays is a great community member and a friend of mine, and know a thing or two.
    I will butt out know:)

And hey Welcome to the forum too.
    I’m TSLP✌.

Heh it's fine. The more help that is provided the better. Plus you've been creating liveries longer than me so your input is welcome as well :)

Cheers, just sharing some different perspectives or experiences I had when doing colour matches.

Drove me mad. In fact I made a comment about it and as I had to keep shutting the game down to see the changes. It took days because of my OCD. But guess what DTG Matt seen my issues and said He’d get the teams to look into it.
    They did and fixed it.

Why I say you never know who’s watching.

    ✌.

Sorry for the yellow bleed look. I create liveries on a console so that's the best I can do.

Can you not take photos on your console and then send it to an app like PSN?. I’m on PS5 so take a screenshot and send it to my IPad PSN app.

And hey thanks for the colours, it will save me a lot of time:)

I could, but the colour glitch with the yellow line would still appear no matter how I took it. I can't take the picture on PC as I have the WCML Enhancement pack which adds the branding automatically. That's why each image I take is mostly from console.

If you use a camera you will get screen or colour distortion from the laying of LCD or Plasma.

Again this is why I have HD photos as i take my screen shots from the console features.
Yet I sound silly if your on PC, PC is completely over my head.

    Another skill under your belt;)

No I mean the yellow effect was on the livery itself. As I'm on a Gen 8 console, the livery seems to bleed like that slightly. It's just a graphics issue caused by the system itself as it's struggling to keep up with the graphics system DTG uses. I'm not complaining though as it's a lot better on Xbox PC.

I don't wanna seem ungrateful bro but I tried the colours you gave and the green is coming out too green. Mine is the one with the yellow cab area. Do you (or anyone) have any ideas on how to better match it to the one on the right??

It could possibly be just my eyes being weird because I matched the colour you used. Thanks!!

No it's fine. The one on the right seems to be darker to me. Whereas my one appears to be lighter. The one on the right is made by SR (Trainfan) but I'm not sure if he's on the forums or not. I might ask around and see. I'll try getting back to you tomorrow after I have a look.

You need to run low and to the left. Higher up and you will get a toy effect, to bright. So work towards a more greyish darker tone.
I will try short a code for you both if you can’t find SR. I was meant to speak them a while back remember as we was using a lot of his work.

To bright has always been an issues when doing colour matches.

Let us know if you find them as again I’d like to speak to them.

    ✌.

He’s not on here under their DTL user tag.

To find community members, then look up top. Your will see (Edit) members. Go to that option where you can find and search for all community members.

That’s fine, just look to the right and you will see a small search bar. Enter who you need and it will bring a list up for you.

You said you'd try a short code? Can you try it? I don't think we were successful in contacting SR. Unless you were successful then I await either the code from you or SR's opinion. Thanks bro!!

No not yet sorry, been busy on this. Way over delayed and why I call it plan C. IMG_3363.jpeg IMG_3373.jpeg IMG_3384.jpeg IMG_3398.jpeg IMG_3418.jpeg I will get it for you soon. Doesn’t take five minutes on colour test. I test the paint for all seasons to get a right balance in all lighting conditions.
Even weather conditions. So it be around roughly a day or two if I make a start later on before I have any codes for you.

But I’m betting the a green has some light shades of grey blue undertone to it. The GWE Green you see above has bluish grey mixed in.

    Again understand real paints.
Undercoats have an effect on how colours will appear. Add lacker or Varnish and that could darken a colour tone.
Ref to steam and age degradation.

So with this being a game I can’t add any undercoat or lacker. So to get the right undertone for LRV on the paint pigments in game I mix blues or greys.

It’s why I say it doesn’t take five minutes:)
I’ll have it for you soon Brother.

    Rigsby.

Jesus bro what you're doing looks waaayyyyyy too advanced for my taste. I'm sure you know what kind of science goes into a project, no an endeavour like that. I wish you luck on your mission and take your time with those codes.

Also how do you get that overlay on the decals. Is it a base game setting? Is it a mod? Or is it decals placed onto the actual body work by you?

Hahahaha it’s why my head hurts all day. It’s just the level you end up after all these years. Experience let’s say. Yet to be fair I can’t do my Times table mate 3x and all. Liveries tho or anything complicated my mind can take it, simple day to task I’d find hard.

So I’d like to say thanks for the kind comments:)

Okay well firstly every single work I’ve done is on PS4 and now on PS5. No mods nothing.
The only was I could explain is by saying plan or build what you see in the mind first.

So the main tank first, then start either start under that or over depending on where a pipe goes.ill focus on areas.
The lower brakes lever connectors or done under the first decal, then I’ll scroll up the decal list to where the wheels decals are, as the wheels cover or are in front of the main tank. So need to work on top and not under.

Once you’re in certain areas then you build up in front or behind.

Stages of development. Get a rough out line, Set key areas to work in front or behind.
So the Smoke stack is again done under the main tank but the lower part of the Smoke stack is over the tank.
Then start pulling the work more tighter or so everything is a set distance apart.

To do this accurately then set on main reference line to work off, so again all of the decals are where they need to be.
And then start adding any additional details. So the light hooks are Ts used behind the main tank. If you don’t use letters then thats how decals get wasted. One letter T would take two decals to make. I only use one to get the effects I want.

And the for a top layer or my lacker;) then I use a square pick a colour I need so maybe a old paper look,(Dark Brown) then I would fade the colour so it’s transparent that’s all.

Here you will see it sounds or looks very complicated, and to be fair it is.
Yet it’s what I love doing so have heart and passion for liveries. I devoted a lot of time to be good.
Mate when I first had a go on livery editor I didn’t have a clue, even tho I used various tools in the past.
Confidence that all that was, I didn’t quite understand so walked away.

The only reason I started putting so much effort in was due to quality that I felt was missing in the early TSW2 Days or even TSW 2021.
Or TSW2020. I have to check as I did buy some titles before TSW2 release.
It’s why I push so hard to get high quality work today.

Because I love to make them and if it adds anything different for others to enjoy then that’s what it’s all about.

Us all being Happy my friend:)

    Lee✌.

    Boo. Have something for you.

IMG_3445.jpeg IMG_3446.jpeg IMG_3447.jpeg IMG_3448.jpeg The colour still needs some adjustment tho, I will try short this when I get five but it should give you a ball park area to work from for now.
I did adjust the final colour ever so slightly as it looks a little lighter in shade, so just reduced it a bit.

    Anyway gotta dash.
    Catch you soon.

Thanks, I will perfect it more when I have more time. But if you use a transparent top layer you can add additional tone to the paint shade;)

I’ll will keep a lookout then.

What do you mean a transparent layer? Is it like the same colour decal but just more transparent or is it a base black or white decal in transparent?

I can explain this. The transparent layer is basically an additional layer, which can be made transparent by changing the opacity (how clear the colour can be seen) so if you placed a dark LNR Green and then another layer with the same dark green and adjust the opacity, it will have a slightly darker look to it because the dark green behind it would show through it, but only slightly. I normally use this option for weathering, but Rigsby might be onto something

Yes it’s a trick I’ve done for many years and is now out the bag.

You can do what you say Jplayz yet can get very tricky. But if you have one big deal over the livery then fade it so if you want a dark brown or dirty oil look then reduce or adjust the big deal transparency.

I said in this thread to TTB about lacker used over paints. Well that one big decal is that lacker than can give the shade or colour tone darker or lighter.

    Simple rules of paint work.
    Prep.
    Undercoat.
    Main coat of paint.
Then seal or protect with lacker.

So yep knowing this now should help make your work look more professional. Not bright or toy looking.

    Rigsby,

Like these here. IMG_5716.jpeg IMG_5718.jpeg IMG_5949.jpeg IMG_5958.jpeg You can see the difference in their tone. Dull and then bright when new.

Aight one more question for you guys. How do I put that yellow front on to the 377s? I'm on console and it's difficult using decals on such an exact kind of decal. I have attatched a photo for reference.

Looking at it here, then you could do it a number of ways. One yellow decal and the user green decals around or use a few decals to work using just yellow decals.
So I will get some decal numbers for you that I’d use for the Job.

It might not be today but I will get back to you at some point.

    Rigsby.

If you want I can assist you here. Let me know if you do want my help again and I'll see what I can do. I've made one or two 377 liveries so I'll take a look regardless

I'll see what I can do. I'm heading off for a bit now, but I'll see what I can gather for you.
