Out Now Köln - Aachen Timetable Update - Out Now On Steam!

You have a Fallns hopper train with a 218 at a siding in Köln Müngersdorf. Then you have a freight train with a V60 shuttling between Stollberg freight yard and Düren or Horrem. And then you have some lonely freight cars at Stollberg freight yard. In the morning you the typical 2 freight locos in the siding at Aachen. And V60 shunting sometimes at Stollberg.

 

I had all retired dlc in the 218 wasn't in the list on ps4 when I was trying it out

 

I play the PS4 version on my PS5. Perhaps there is a difference between. You can watch the videos I made. 218 is included if you play the PS4 version on a PS5.

 

That's weird playing on my ps5 no 218 showed up on the ps4 version of Köln-Aachen it did on all other routes

 

ok, so my thoughts after quite a couple hrs... been barely playing anything else

- the route is SO ALIVE... during services, you are constantly overtaking or passing other trains of all kinds
- only 2 FlixTrain services, but well, they are fun, as always, might be replaying them later even though I have already got the medals
- London Commuter and other great routes are... great, but IMO this is now the blueprint for "make your own shift" kind of route... you can literally spend hrs and hrs on end on this one, doing all kinds of stuff
- performance is surprisingly good, given the ....load of stuff going on EVERYWHERE
- a small thing, but I LOVE the fact that this timetable has new scoring system implemented... so satisfying knowing that you set your cab perfectly, yet again
- I have still only scratched the surface, but even so, having a blast... also, loving the custom liveries to represent different operators... I know some of them arent 100% accurate, but still, helps the overall immersion

all those improvements and all, this elevates an already awesome route into one of the top routes in the game... but also begs for a couple small things to tweak - some minor signalling bugs (like the one I described in this thread and filed a ticket for) and seeing this kind of life and all, really makes one drool for a remaster with an added branch or two... like those DMU services beg for more playtime and stops

also, while waiting at stations for the desired train to arrive and take over can be enjoyable, watching trains pass by fairly often, this begs for "advance time" feature to appear someday

so, this timetable is in fact SO GOOD that it massively heightens expectations for remasters or new routes... I mean, yeah, it took a really long time to release (and may yet take some time to do final tweaks), but if we are served sth as delicious as this, it might lead to disappointment when sth isnt as detailed as this

overall, very satisfied... and all this we got for free, maaan

 

The reason could be, that the 218 has only one service in the new timetable. And it is a service with hauling Falns hopper cars. And for that you need the 155 loco addon, that adds the Falns hopper cars beside the 155 to the Ruhr Sieg Nord route addon. And for using that loco addon you need the Ruhr Sieg Nord route addon.

 

S12 service that can't be closed, timetable mode, etc.

Reminds me on some services with the Jubilee at Midlands Mainline, Westsomerset Railway and Southeastern Highspeed. You have green signals, but if you drive over a special point of the track, you get the message service abondan, because of not recognizing a signal.

 

I tried again. But the situation is still broken. How about you all with the s12 service? The car stops at a red light in front of the destination, but no matter how many times I try to operate it, when I open and close the door after arriving, it asks me to open it again, and I can't end the operation.

 

Did you arrive early? Sometimes you have to wait for the scheduled time.

 

I actually waited for 15 minutes in real time, but it didn't finish.

Meanwhile, when I arrived at the station platform, the departure board still showed the time for another train that had already departed.

 

With it being road map day tomorrow dtg needs to say what's going on with Köln-Aachen new timetable for console and Epic Games it will most likely be the most asked question and hoping that GWE will not have a steam exclusive time frame like Köln-Aachen new timetable is getting

 

for people who kept saying that this timetable is gonna be tsw 6 exclsuive it wont be bc they just comfirmed in the next update they will release it for everybody and the reason why is bc on steam there is no limitation to testing unlike xbox playstation and epic games

I ask this with the understanding that the answer is somewhat objective, I have all the UK DLC and have to say the latest two UK routes really aren’t the greatest. I have no German DLC but wondered if it’s worth taking advantage of the steam sale to buy all layers DLC to maximise immersion on Koln-achan(forgive my spelling)?

I have noticed the load times for the game are already clunky and worry that with all the DLC required for the layers, I’ll have to start the game an hour before I want to play. I have a very new high end 4090 system so it’s not as though my hardware is a bit dated

As you say, that's quite objective. If you are generally interested in German stock and have the money to spare, then things can get quite immersive - either with the official stuff or with some timetable mods.

Köln-Aachen is nice with the new timetable, but still has the old lighting, same goes for Hauptstrecke Rhein-Ruhr or Rhein-Ruhr-Osten with user-made timetables. Dresden-Riesa is a good route to show off the collection, too, and has the current lighting model. I also enjoy Ludwigsbahn way more than expected, and Niddertalbahn is great even though you don't see much other rolling stock.

It takes a lot of investment, though, even with sales, and to get all the stuff just to supercharge the Köln-Aachen-experience seems a bit overkill to me - so I would not generally recommend it without doing a lot of soulsearching first.

 

So i decided to give the new timetable a try, and the one BR218 service they deign to give us has the bug where it spawns you on foot in some random place.

While all that is true, if you buy just one route, Riesa-Dresden, you will get a whole passel of German rolling stock in one go: the 143, 146, 185, 363, 442 and 766. That alone will fill out KAH quite a bit, even if you don't have all the layers.

 

Yeah, the 218 layer is a mess: apparently that train doesn't exist (try spawning on foot at Horrem: it never appears).

But the rest of the TT is great. London-Brighton traffic density, together with shunting services.

Great Graphics and textures

 

Deleted some my creators club livery's to help with the texture issue with this route aswell and the new update is doing alright on Xbox at main stations it's memory taking 30fps max with all layers will say and got random dump from the game but saved before deleted some trains all good

Also on Reddit someone said this, that xbox got this TT update today, but still nothing on my PS5.

I have a feeling the patch was released in error. There are no patch notes, and in the Roadmap yesterday Matt said there were blurred textures on consoles and it was not ready for certification. If that would change in under 24 hours it would be almost a miracle. Certainly strange.

I already Show the blurry textures, it happened on the First 5 Minutes and was the entire Drive to Köln Hbf

 

I wonder why the testing is different on Epic compared to Steam
I understand consoles work in a different way, but why not release EGS?

 

We may have made a mistake by not asking that the S-Bahn be extended to Hennef ( Sieg ) because we have lost our link to Siegen and on to our Ruhr routes and beyond to Wetzlar and the local trains to Kassel, Göttingen and Frankfurt.
It is worse than Mannheim without Heidelberg, or Hanau without Achaffenburg.

 

As Koln-Aachen timetable update, is not available now for console,... at least I added by free roam a Flixtrain service!

 

But also, I made another Free Roam drive, for Hamburg - Lubeck route, with the BR182 Flixtrain locomotive.

Yesterday I tried the run with the 103 on this route on Series X. Cause the game runs so bad, I turned down the settings from 4K to HD. The visual difference on a TV for me is not big or barely visible. Cloud Gaming on a tablet, you can see the difference when reading your instruments in the Cab. They are barely readable. But that's ok (for me)

But this new time table just runs not good. The game runs ok, no stuttering mostly. But the textures in the Cab are going crazy, flickering from pixel to good and repeating. And shortly before you arrive in Köln HBF, the game crashes. I didn't try another run yet but I don't think it will get better with for example the Expert 101

 

I always use the image quality on HD setting.

For the visual point of view of the game - at least for me - is OK.
Even due to reduce the "risk" of having problems, avoiding memory issues or "crashes".
I am on PS5

As you can see the quality is good enough with that setting, for the simulator.
Even including Free roam great feature, including an extra train.

 

Hi. I tried the new timetable (more out of curiosity, because, you know, PS4 performance) and I found the track to be almost deserted.

I like the idea behind the new timetable, but I think in its current form PS4 cannot handle it.

Drove an IC service and the 103 railtour. There was no S-Bahn or freight traffic and I think only one or two BR442 on the entire map.

Also, when trying to start the 218 service, I spawned on foot somewhere, like in your video.

It will be interesting to see the new timetable on Gen8 in its final form. Hopefully the project will not be abandoned and everything will fall back to New Journeys.

 

The 218 issue is a known bug. Apparently that train doesn't exist.

 

Is this new timetable out on PS5 yet?

Not yet. Probably being left over for TSW6 so us PS users have to pay for it.

 

That would include Epic Games users as well. Steam, xbox and ps4 users are being used as beta testers in till everyone has the update on Köln-Aachen

Epic and ps5 users are now the only ones not having the timetable at currently with xbox getting by accident like ps4 and fully released on steam

 

The new timetable does not work well on Xbox Series X.
I tried multiple runs from either Köln or Aachen.
Blurry textures already after 5 - 10 minutes into a service. Additionally half of the services Crash when you get close to Köln.
The new timetable is Not really usable / enjoyable on Xbox Series X.

On PC gamepass the new timetable runs without any issues .. performance wise.

 

I have no idea why they haven't pushed to Epic yet - it's a PC-only platform anyway.

 

DTG Matt is it possible to Remove the Class 700, TGV, or the BR 112, 114 and 143 layers on console for Köln Aachen please to Save Memory because of the blurry textures.
