I am not particularly interested in the new Thomas DLC, but why is the american pricing the same as the European pricing? The euro has more value, so European players are paying more.

Ask the Swiss or Australians and many others, they pay a lot more than Europeans. This happens when the developer/publisher doesn't take the effort to manually adjust the prices for the respective countries and has them converted automatically, e.g. by Steam.

But under certain conditions (100% legal of course), it also works the other way around and you only pay a fraction of the actual price.

Tbf, just checked and focus/DTG do seem to be the only games publisher to actually change things for each region. I'm so used to being charged £69.99 whilst the US is $69.99 and the EU is €69.99.

Carry on as you were. I bow out lol

I suffer from this in Switzerland. Steam like to charge certain countries more. In my case approx 33% on top of the US Price. I just got Cardiff in the ‘Sale’ at 20% off and it was still significantly more expensive than on PS5. (PlayStation actually charges based on exchange rate).

When I complained, DTG initially told me it’s out of their control, but steam told me, that they only suggest the price and DTG can override it. I did then get a reply from JD and it basically said that they set the price themselves for USD, UKP and Euro. But it’s too much work to set every country. Therefore I only buy in sales now and get the yearly versions from key sites. If they can’t be bothered to set the price, then I can’t be bothered to pay it.

It’ll be a while before I get the new German route, because at today’s exchange rate it would cost me the equivalent of £40 and none of DTG’s in house routes are worth anything like that much to me.

I've long wondered about the exchange rate used for pricing for US players. It seems we are often charged more than the official rate would suggest.

If I see something priced the same number of dollars and yen, then I'll have a problem.
