Try turning throttle wheel into breaking zone for a sec ant and then try to set off. Works for me.

The problem is TS and TSW doesn't have native controller support. It supports only Xbox controller and raildriver AFAIK.

That's actually not that bad idea IMHO, but you have to carefully think it over. And as the predecessor said price is the biggest factor here.
