Dear DTG, I hope this message finds you well. I've been a dedicated player of Train Sim World and particularly appreciate the efforts you've taken in adding a plethora of locomotives to the game. One such locomotive that holds a special place for many of us, especially those familiar with it in real life, is the ÖBB 4024. Having experienced this train firsthand, I believe that updating its sound in Train Sim World 4 can further enhance the realism and immersion of the simulator. This would not only be a nod to the actual drivers and passengers who have memories associated with the ÖBB 4024 but would also provide all players with a more authentic railway experience. Specific Suggestions: 1. Engine Sound: A more accurate representation of the ÖBB 4024's motor sounds, specifically when it starts, accelerates, and reaches top speed. 2. Door and Interior Sounds: Incorporate distinct door opening and closing sounds, coupled with ambient sounds from within the carriages, mimicking real-life scenarios. 3. Brake and Track Interaction: An updated sound that represents the squeal and hiss of brakes, as well as the unique resonance of the train's wheels interacting with tracks. To aid in this, I recommend collaborating with or sourcing authentic sound samples from actual ÖBB 4024 units or from railway enthusiasts who may have recordings. This would guarantee a higher fidelity representation of the train in the simulator. I am confident that an update like this would be positively received by the Train Sim World community. It's these nuanced details that make Train Sim World 4 stand out, and it's the dedication to realism that keeps players like myself engaged and enthusiastic about future updates. Thank you for considering this suggestion, and for your continuous efforts in making Train Sim World 4 a premier railway simulator. Best regards, Nick
They explained on the stream last night that they couldn’t source sounds from the train company and the current sounds are final. Any requests to change the sound aren’t going to be given the time of day.
It could be a future project, because there are some ÖBB Train Drivers who are willing to help to get a sound recording for the 4024, unfortunately I don't have direct contact to them, otherwise I could directly work together with them and DTG to update the sound
Well, that's sad. Just plain sad but true from a developer if he is not able to even out its mistakes. I can understand if they have problems to obtain the audio files for the moment and couldn't incorporate them into the DLC at release, but to completely deny a sound improvement later on just because it didn't work once and having a "money comes in either way" policy, is just unacceptable and inexcusable for me. "Updates" to DLCs seem to be something from the other side of the moon for DTG.
Its nothing to do with lack of trying, or not wanting too. The train operating company OBB said no. DTG are not allowed to do a recording. So unless OBB change their mind, DTGs hands are tied.
Every single time this topic gets brought up I get annoyed that no one mentions how literally using Class 377 sounds would be an improvement for the Talent 1. They don't even need to go fetch a real train. Just use the sounds that are already available in the game.
It’s so annoying when you cross over to the dark side (SimRail) and all the trains have great sounds even the EMU’s. The near silent trains of TSW4 (apart from the Vectron) are one of its many disappointments. And this is not the first time DTG have slammed the door in the face of criticism over incorrect or poorly mixed sounds, which more often than not the latter is the real issue. Look no further than the Class 700 where DTG bought in sounds from AP but mixed them poorly with the level too quiet. People complained and basically got the “It’s final”, middle finger from DTG.
While OP states the sounds from the 4024 series type exactly, it doesn't need to be the exact same type to be recorded in my opinion. It would have been better if they'd recorded any Talent 1 model than just reusing Talent 2 sounds. If ÖBB says no, that's one thing. But it is not the only railway company on the world, which use Talent 1 type locos.
