For those interested into the ÖBB, you might like this video:

Around the clock, more than 40,000 ÖBB employees ensure that around 1.3 million passengers and around 300,000 tons of goods reach their destinations safely. An ÖBB train starts every 12 seconds and starts its scheduled journey.

The camera team from ATV-Die Reportage was able to look over the shoulders of various ÖBB employees at work for 24 hours a day. Marina Knabl from Tyrol starts her working day in the early hours of the morning. She has been a train driver with heart and soul for 10 years and could not imagine a better job for herself.

While the Tyrolean brings the 205 meter long Railjet safely to its destination in the direction of Salzburg, the 100 employees in the Salzburg dispatch center ensure smooth rail traffic on the rails. The 24-year-old Styrian Alexander Hochrainer moved from Styria to Salzburg for his dream job. Like his father and great-grandfather, the dispatcher works for one of the most successful companies in Austria.

Full concentration during day and night shifts is required to steer the trains onto the right tracks. The work of the employees of the Stubachtal power plant group shows the effort required to operate ÖBB trains with electricity from their own hydroelectric power plants.

In order to ensure climate-friendly mobility, 90 percent of the traction current is generated from hydropower. In the early afternoon, the power plant technicians on duty, Werner Maier and Lukas Fritzenwanger, received an interference signal on a reservoir of the hydroelectric power plant.

In the walls of the reservoir, which is strictly monitored from a technical point of view, there is a technical problem that the technicians have to solve. Action must be taken quickly in order to continue to ensure sufficient electricity for rail traffic.
