Good evening everyone! Train Sim World is about to getting its 100th DLC. This is an important moment for the game itself. I hope this would be the beginning of a new phase for the franchise, as it expands further in new directions: New countries represented, new features and an overall greater variety of content. I wanted to say thank you, both the developers and the community for this remarkable goal, which has almost been achieved! Have fun below, say what you would like to see in TSW in the future (in all its aspects). And, maybe, make a prediction on what the 100th DLC will be. Caravatt.
A class 45/0 for Peak Forest is what I'd adore to see, chuck a 25 in and that would be perfection. What I think it will be, well whatever is next in the release schedule, perhaps Skyhook's pack.
Why is that such a big deal, it is like birthdays, nothing will change the planet will still rotate the same way after than before
Wow - 100 at last! Soon we will be looking at Train Sim Classic numbers! I would like to believe it will have something to do with 100 - perhaps 100km, or 100 mph. This is probably not going to happen though.
Yeah, nothing will change but it’s a nice milestone to achieve. 100 is a big number and a lot in terms of DLC
I would like to see them fix the massive amount of bugs in old DLC and finish content they released unfinished with a promise to finish it.
It will be the ultimate dlc. You'll need to own all other 99 in order to take advantage of all available layers.
742 currently listed, doesn't count those that have since been removed from sale for various reasons.
That's only Steam DLC, add those that are provided by 3rd parties via webshops, or the huge India payware scene. There's DLC been made all around the world, Russia, Romania, Czechia, Poland, Netherlands, etc... The game was conceived as an open platform from the beginning. I'd say 1,000 is a realistic assertion. Then add the freeware products on top. 1,500? 2,000? 3,000? Impossible to tell.
The current main income of the game is the continued production of DLC. Other charging options, such as multiplayer gaming memberships, may be added in the future.Simply counting the number of DLCs is meaningless. As long as the game continues to operate, its DLC will be unrestricted.
That is a mind blowing amount of DLC. Do you think TSW will reach that number someday far in the future ??. Consoles would need more storage space for it all…..
No. TSW is a closed development, all DLC must be released by DTG. Add 15 DLC per year roughly. No exponential growth to be expected, freeware scene is restricted to mods and timetables as of now. TSC is an open platform and was laid out as that from day one, so it instantly grew after the dev tools were released (I think it was the first patch for Kuju Rail Simulator back then). Everyone can make content and sell it or release it for free without needing to negotiate with DTG for "AddOn manager whitelist approval". Take SCS, their ETS2/ATS is an enclosed development too, 3rd party addons must only be released as freeware (but is allowed!). The biggest freeware project is ProMods, releasing massively enhanced highest quality maps, closely working together with SCS. The only requirement being that their maps need the original DLC to run by referencing original assets (but adding to them).
100 DLC's, an achievement, but you'd have thought they might have learnt from their mistakes by now! Looking forward to some new UK routes, and more rolling stock! Would also like an updated NTP, with the 185 or 800 series.
