While talking about the sounds of the Class 313 it reminded me of this video which shows why I just love the old DC locos like the Class 313, the BR143 and 155.

The locomotive in question is the italian (Class E.656 n.039), it has a starting power of 4.800kW (using 12 electric motors), which can be switched in 4 combinations of series and parallel, has also 5 field weaking positions.

It's crazy to think how a little cute Siemens Vectron gets both higher power and tractive effort by being half the size.

I would absolutely love if any of those old Italian machines made their way to TSW... especially the even older generation (E.646 and E.636) where you had to exclude the resistors yourself, and the main way to control the loco was a big handle.

Anyway I thought it was a pretty cool video and wanted to share it.
