I think having a up to date Route of Horseshoe Curve in Altoona Pennsylvania would be a huge step forwards for TSW2 given this route is only 39 miles long. Making the Route look and feel like 2020 would be awesome and given the tonnage pushed and pulled over the Allegheny Mountains every day. And plus Amtrak runs every hour to. I've noticed most of the routes for TSW and now TSW2 come with either 2 or 3 Locomotives given i spent the last 4 months in Altoona these are the Locomotives i have seen there more of.

    #1. NS SD40E helper unit
#2. NS SD70ACU helper unit and Lead unit
    #3. NS SD60E helper unit

    #1. Amtrak Genesis Passenger unit

And the rollingstock Freight cars were Doublestacks, Piggybacks, Tanker's & Open Top Hopper's.

I think if DTG would put Horseshoe Curve Visitors Center in game that players could visit the Historical Building and viewing area that it would be a huge hit with players especially when on foot if there was trains going around the curve every 10 mins or so like real life. Great place to watch when you get 2 trains Racing up the Mt around the Curve

Amtrak runs 1 train per day in each direction there. The Pennsylvanian.

I agree that this route would be epic in TSW2.

The only thing I would change is you locomotive choice.

Recently, nearly all helper services are done with new SD70ACU's (rebuilt SD90/43MAC's). The most common locomotives seen leading trains are the Dash 9-44CW, the AC44C6M (rebuilt D9 with AC traction), and the SD70ACe. And having a loco for switching the Altoona yard would be nice too.

The best choices for locomotives would be the SD70ACU, the AC44C6M, and a locomotive for switching in the yard (IDK what NS uses).

The dash 9 are all getting rebuilt to AC44C6M’s , Also the SD40E and SD70ACU are commonly on the horseshoe curve, and the SD60E is commonly seen there to , so he’s right with his loco suggestions, but the AC44C6M could be a loco add on though

I think this would be a great idea, people have issues with remakes of existing routes see as they're kind of samey if you've played them previously. Switching eras would be a great way to both be able to reuse existing knowledge from TS Classic, but also make something different out of them.

I would love this route, but I think that licensing would be tricky. Norfolk Southern might not want to be in a game with CSX unless certain requirements are met. I’m not sure what exactly the details would be but I think the competition would prove to be difficult.

Both CSX and NS are represented many times in TS. If I were NS (although I'd rather be CSX;)), I'd want to be a part of TSW as soon as possible. Why should CSX have all the glory?

When I watch the live webcam at HSC, I nearly always see SD70ACes, AC44C6Ms and SD70ACUs, I almost never see anything else except the very occasional SD70ACC and SD40E. The only SD60E I've seen at the curve was more than 10 years ago!

I've been watching the cam for the last hour and a half and I've seen nothing but AC44C6Ms SD70ACes and ES44DCs

That would be nice if DTG did that but DTG's has said many times that a 40 mile route is Big to them so i don't see them doing that.

Really did they say a 40 mile route is too long for them? Didn't they just make a 43 mile route. TrainSim-Matt

Yeah. 40 miles is definitely doable. Peninsula Corridor is about 47 miles.

Well If I remember correctly the new Southeastern High speed route is a 46 mile's & the new TGV route is about 52 miles & SPG is about 57 miles(Which is on the roadmap so those routes are coming)

If you watch Matt Peddelston live stream TSW2 he has said multi times 40 miles is Huge for DTG's. Don't hold your breath on TSW2 making Soldier Summit route anytime soon which is a 120+ mile route because i heard it will kill you.

I don't see Pittsburgh to Altoona working for them, as that would be 117 miles, unless the route is split into parts and extensions.

Pittsburgh to Johnstown is around 78 miles.
Johnstown to Altoona is around 40 miles. (As stated in the OP)

I'm still NOT CONVINCED that DTG's can make a true simulator given that 99% of there scenario's are dead lifeless around or near railroading. Great example CSX Sand Patch Grade route in "ANY SCENARIO" Cumberland yard is always dead lifeless ghost town always, until i see that or another rail yard PACKED with freight cars and locomotives i'm not 100% on board with TSW2. I only play American stuff and will always play American. I care 2 cents about others than American.

As much as I'd love to see this route set in the modern day with NS and Amtrak, I really want it set in the Conrail era with an SD80MAC, C40-8W, SD70MAC, or C39-8, or C30-7. A GP40-2 or B23-7 could be great, too. A PRR version is what I would prefer. I'd love a PRR Centipede, F7 A and B, SD7 or SD9, FM H-24-66, or Alco RSD15. Another couple of NS loco suggestions would be an ET44AC, ES40DC, ES44AC or DC, Genset Switcher, or C40-9(W).

Any era (PRR, Conrail, NS) would be cool. I would pass on a Penn Central era route. If it's any of the other 3, I would absolutely buy it full price!

What's wrong with Penn Central I worked for them for 2 year's before joining Conrail for 22 years, you know if it wasn't for them Horseshoe Curve may never had survived you never looked at it that way young immature person, I didn't think so ! Talk is cheap, if you didn't work for the company don't talk crap about it, you'd do the same if you worked for said company. Kids !
