    ********************** ORIGINAL POST BELOW *************************

Hello friends, I've decided to hop on the trend of sharing creations in hopes of getting tips and making my project even better. As you may have deduced from the title, I have begun creating a new, updated timetable for my favourite route, Munchen-Augsburg. I always felt the initial timetable was a *bit* empty, with perhaps 3 or 4 trains at most parked at the Munich Hbf, and only two S-Bahn lines on the Munich Stammstrecke. I plan on updating this thread to document my progress, as well as look for feedback and some troubleshooting from other fellow creators.

    S-Bahn Stammstrecke
To date, I have created services between 3 am and noon for all routes utilizing the Stammstrecke between Hackerbrucke and Pasing. This includes: S1, S2, S3, S4, S6, S7, S8, and S20 services. It was quite a challenge achieving perfect spacing between services, however, I have reached a point where all services arrive at their scheduled times. All services are player-driveable aside from the S20, providing plenty of (repetitive) intense LZB action. Below is a screengrab of 4 different S-Bahn services simultaneously at Munich-Pasing! Beautiful!
    upload_2024-1-16_18-59-1.png

The best part of including all S-Bahn services is seeing all platforms being used at Munchen-Laim & Donnersbergerbrucke.
    upload_2024-1-16_19-38-23.png

    ICE/IC/ECE/EC
So far, I have only worked on ICE services, simulating all ICE services in/out of the Hbf between 3 am and noon (noticed a pattern yet?). There are an insane amount of shunting movements that go into the morning rush hour (and I presume PM rush too), so figuring out the logistics has been quite the challenge. I'm avoiding thinking too much about what formations are running and more focusing on plugging in when and where. Everything is using the MAG ICE3, but I will look into diversifying the fleet once the timings are set.

    upload_2024-1-16_19-10-34.png
Do these guys belong here? Maybe. Does it work for now? Absolutely.

    Regional Services
Many of my friends think I am crazy for spending all this time building this timetable. (Hint: they're right).
    Lets cut to the chase.
    • RE1/RB16: Dosto x4 with BR 146.
    • RE2/RE25/RE3/RB33: Dosto x4 with BR146. These are in the same layer as RE1/RB16, as some formations seem to switch between routes. Will consider employing the BR 425 for RB33 at a later stage of development.
    • RE6/RB54: VBRG 4024. While operated with Alstom Coradia _____, I thought this would be a decent substitution for now.
    • RB55/56/57/58: this is where I get sad. Unfortunately, the pathing between Munich Hbf and Donnersbergerbrucke is broken. No services out means no services in. I've tried it in Sandbox, the editor, you name it. If anyone has a fix or any clue please let me know.
If the regional service is not on this list, that means I have not gotten to it yet. Fear not, my goal is to have a fully fleshed-out timetable.

    NJ/RJX/WB/TGV
Not started. TGV Duplex trainset is incompatible with this route :(.

    Troubleshooting
I am having issues pulling multiple formations in the same siding, even using "Call on dependency". I could not find any documentation for it, so it may be that I'm doing it wrong.
    upload_2024-1-16_19-28-13.png
As an example, MSB Shunting to Yard_1 gets stuck at Danger before entering the occupied siding. This was also experienced in the PIE.

Also, having some issues displaying the destination on both the onboard PIS and the displays at stations. E.g., all the BR423s are showing "Nicht Einsteigen", but I would love to have them display the correct destination (for the sake of realism, this is a simulator after all). Any tips/help is much appreciated.

    So what now?
I will keep this thread updated when I achieve major milestones / have nice pictures to share. Next up, coding remaining regional services followed by extending the timetable into the second half of the day! Excited to eventually share the final product publicly for everyone to enjoy. (At least for those with a good PC, this one will give your computer a good workout).

    Nice work!

From my experience it seems that call on dependencies don't work on all tracks or sidings. On MSB I have found that switching to a different siding or starting the shunt move from within a different block sometimes enables shunting to an occupied block with a call on dependency. I don't know if that's possible on your side but it might be worth a try.

    Good luck and thank you!

why find the need to promote that you do youtube in a thread. It is totally irrelevant to the thread topic or is it just a way for you to go in threads and self promote in the hope we all go and look you up.

That sounds very cool! Can't wait to see that in action.

Is the 423 old enough to have its own internal list of destinations rather than reading the station directory? If so, there's nothing you can do about that, at least not within the scope of "only" making a timetable.

What issues are you having with the displays at the stations though?

You could take a look at the route tables for the signals along the path you want to figure out what exactly the problem is and if/how you can work around it.

How about using the 406 for the TGV services? They used to go to France.

Same. I assume the signal going into the siding has to be set up for it...? On Dresden-Riesa, you can't use call on dependencies at all in the one place where you really need them, Dresden-Altstadt yard. I hope you find a workaround!

I'm assuming you've selected the call on dependency in the objective? Took me ages figuring out the correct way to set them up.

    mkraehe#6051 it's possible

You can set the old destinations right at the service, at least that worked in the unofficial editor. I sadly don't know the specific name of the input right from my head but there is an input at the sevrice node where you can select a blueprint, there you would select something with destination (not sure how that's named either). Then you have a text field where you need to input the line number with the destination name. Those have to perfectly match with how they are defined in the 423s destination list (you can take a look at where you select the destination in the 423s cab when playing).

If you can't find the right place to input that stuff in the service node you can either take a look at timetables where it works (like the original HMA timetable) with the unofficial editor or when you don't want to set that up come back to me and I'll look it up later / in the next days.

Sure, but only for destinations that are set up in the 423's destination list, right?

Ah yes of course, everything else would need to be modded. But for the S-Bahn services Vindicity needs almost everything should be there.

Thanks! I will try a different siding,

Issues with station PIS is that not all destinations are in the MAG station directory. Missing major ones for ICE services such as Essen, Hamburg Hbf, etc.., missing basically all for regional services, and missing all the S-Bahn destinations (except s3,s4). Not like I can expect 100% true-to-life S-Bahn PIS displays, the screens in TSW4 are formatted differently than IRL.:(

What do you mean by route tables? I believe the issue is with the switch leading up to the station. I can go Hbf to Donnersbergerbrucke Platform 1, but not platform 2. I can however go Hackerbrucke to Donnersbergerbrucke platforms 1&2. Weird.

406 as substitution for the TGV might end up being the way to go.

I did select the "Call on dependency" flag.

I'll take a look around tonight when I get back to my PC, but if I don't find it within the hour I'll put it on my backburner, it's not too high priority at the moment.

Keyword "almost" ;). Missing the S20 services unfortunately.

Thanks all for the wonderful and helpful replies, and my apologies if there is horrible text formatting, I am currently at work replying from my phone. I will follow up tonight if I missed anything.

I feel you. Dresden-Riesa is also missing absolutely essential entries...

Outside of yards, a route in TSW begins at a signal. The signal has a list of all points (other signals, markers, etc.) that you can reach from that signal. That list then needs to be configured so a) the dispatcher knows which routes are allowed and which ones aren't and b) it knows which aspects to display for which route. You can find the table by selecting the signal in Network Edit mode, then choose the "SignalComponent" in the Details view and "Edit Property" under the "Network Signal Component" header.

Maybe you'll find out why this doesn't work and how to work around it if you look at a few of those lists...

Actually, I had to open the Editor anyways to tell you how to look at the thing, so I had a quick look myself. From Hbf, 42 B is the last signal before the crossover that allows you to go into Donnersbergerbrücke 1 or 2. As you can see, route 0 to signal 105 is disabled, and that is exactly the route to Donnersbergerbrücke platform 1.

There also aren't any signals *at all* between Donnersbergerbrücke 1 and the portal -- I guess the team just got overwhelmed with the huge amount of signalling in the area and never *actually* finished the setup. So this track was not finished and the route didn't get enabled... There's nothing you can do about this. Sorry.

Had some time to take a look into my editor now. This is how it looks in the Unofficial Editor for my SKA modded timetable, should be similar in the official one but I don't know for sure as I haven't used that yet. The interesting part is the "Custom Data" on the bottom of the image.

I've had a try with the destination display setting on my timetable but it doesn't seem to work. Although, I didn't put the train number in first.

Yeah it has to match 100% with whatever that train has in it's destination list. But the whole thing only works with legacy trains (like the HMA 423 or the SKA 442).

In every thread for new timetables or routes i see you promoting your youtube by saying you want to show their projects in videos.
Other Youtubers show new content without promoting it in this forum.
And if you want to promote your channel you should write the name of it too, cause nobody knows who you are.
Im a "true" railfan and i im not going to watch videos of someone who insult others as trolls.
If you are going to answer pleaso do it in another category and not this thread.

390001 I think you misunderstood the post you quoted and replied to with that. The user you quoted here just used sarcasm, whereas the other (you probably confused with) is constantly hinting at his YouTube channel.

This important for me to point out because matinakbary also has a german TSW YouTube channel, and he doesn't even need to promote it in this forum.

Okay... back to the topic. I will try and keep weekly updates on the work done. I'm having some issues determining when and how the S20 connects to the S4 line at Munchen-Pasing, as the DB posts no timetable for the S20. There are some schedules westbound to Pasing from the S7 timetables and eastbound to Pasing from the S4, but no further information. No luck with TRAVIC. I found some timetable info on the Moovit app, but it's not very clear and a headache to use...

Due to performance issues and for organizational purposes, for certain routes, I've decided to split extra peak hour services from the regular headway services. This cleans up all the little links quite a bit, and I don't need to worry about how each service is connecting to the next to reduce the number of formations. Then, depending on how the timetable performs, I will add formations for the peak-hour services.
    upload_2024-1-20_17-21-30.png
On the right are all the "regular" scheduled services between 05:00 and 12:00, and on the left are the peak-hour services. See how clean that is? I don't even want to show what it looked like before.
    upload_2024-1-20_17-23-29.png
Let's just say that the HBF is pretty darn busy at 8:00 am. And I still have so many services to go... this is fun.

I don't know if this could help, but one way to look at incoming trains at certain times (not actually complete timetables unfortunately) is Google Maps.

There, if you click on the entry for the station, you can look up all the connections incoming next. Clicking on a certain line, gives you some informations about the expected arrivals.

Here for example, for the said München-Pasing station:

Thanks for the tips, I did look at Google Maps previously, but it does not show past departure times, only upcoming ones. Works better on mobile than on the web for my purposes too.

On another note, I decided to fiddle around in the PIE to see how some services play out. Here's a 20-minute video where I drive a westbound RB66 service, an S3 Holzkirchen service (from Munchen-Pasing onwards), and an S-Bahn service from Munchen Hbf that drives to Langwied yard using an interesting path. Note that a few signals do not display properly with a few PZB magnets shooting unexpected 1000hz frequencies. Also, performance issues are noticeable near Munich Hbf, and large frame drops are experienced between map tiles.

The S-Bahn services on the Stammstrecke are very tightly scheduled. It'll definitely take practice to perfect stopping distances with the 423 to remain on time (I, as you may have noticed, have not perfected this).

I put the video together in under an hour, so please understand that it may not be worthy of an Oscar. I also had to speed up the driver runs, or the video would have been almost an hour long. Enjoy :).

I'd recommend this tool that's hidden somewhere deep on DB's website instead. That's where I got the long distance arrivals/departures for Dresden.

For the original problem of S-Bahn schedules, MVV has the timetables available to download here. Or grab the full one-thousand page pdf that includes all regional trains (and trams, buses, etc) in Munich.

You can also check this website for full timetables, sorted on Bahnstrecke (route). The only downside is it doesn't contain platform numbers. Those I figured out by manually opening each service on bahn.de.

Amazing, finally a timetable that does Munich justice.

Two quite things from my side
For RE23 and RE25 I'd rather like to see the MRCE 182 with IC coaches, that way the loco would be prototypical, but I understand that handling that extra formations and shunting in Munich is to much.

Second thing I immediatly noticed, All Sbahn services in you're video seem to be 2 units only, whereas plenty of services expecially in the rush hours are 3 units, is this anything that could still be changed or do things get to complicated there?

I will consider those formations for RE2 and RE25, however this will be something done towards the end of development. There are no 12-car BR 423 formations immediately available in the editor, and I do not have the experience nor is it on my priority of things to get done at the moment. A workaround may involve creating a dummy service that couples an 8-car formation to a 4-car formation to create the desired 3-unit BR 423, but then you'd likely be looking at a 3-unit formation for all services of that line (e.g., the S2 only has 4 formations in use for 24 hours of simulation: two for the main Petershausen/Erding services and two for peak services Altomunster/Dachau/Munchen Ost).
On another note, the sidings at Langwied are able to accommodate multiple trains at once without running into the same red-light issues mentioned previously. So, I'm now storing some Dosto's and smaller EMUs there instead of near Donnersbergerbrucke.

FWIW: you can couple/uncouple in the vault, so you can start a service requiring 3 units by first coupling in the vault, then spawning, and then uncoupling at the start of the first service that doesn't require 3 units anymore. Do not uncouple at the end of a service, as that results in issues. Matt mentioned somewhere to never end a service with an uncouple instruction, and I can confirm from first-hand experience that this results in trains not wanting to spawn, stop or load/unload in their next service. So just add the uncouple instruction at the start of the next service. If you want to limit the amount of extra formations that would just be sitting in the vault, you can uncouple a regular two-unit formation and couple both to two other formations for the rush hour services.

Nice work youve done there! I might aswell think about a blb 612 for some extra services ;)
I wish you all the best for the project!

RE2 is fine with Dostos, that one uses 5 Dostos with either 111 or 146, in Munich loco gets changed, as for operational reasons the cab car isn't used on that line.

I've created a 12-car 423 formation which I don't mind sending to you, if you would like?

Would it be possible to create new rail journeys for this since the current one will always use the old timetable I assume?

This is what I had in mind, just didn't get to the point of trying it yet. Thank you for confirming this, this will be useful.

Thank you! The plan is to implement the 612 for the RE 70/72/96 and RB 68/74. Unfortunately, yesterday I learned that you cannot implement a formation in a timetable if you haven't purchased its associated DLC (please correct me if I'm wrong). I still want to make the services possible, so I am running these services under the DB BR 442 to check timings and pathing, and towards the end of the project I may just purchase the Tharandter Rampe DLC.

Speaking of the 7x series of RE/RB services, I discovered that DTG missed a switch west of Pasing that would allow these services to rejoin the right-most rail headed to Leienfelsstr.
    upload_2024-1-25_22-4-26.png
Without this switch, no service can proceed to the Leienfelsstr. 1 portal (right-side running rail) from Munich-Pasing Platform 4. Two solutions: change platform or change portal. Changing the platform is out of the question, Pasing is too busy during rush hour and my head would explode trying to make it work. Instead, I have these services headed straight to the Leienflesstr. 2 portal using the Gegengleis with hopes that DB & MVV scheduled trains in a way that wouldn't require them to hold for passing traffic.

I will likely use the methodology proposed by Isaak (see above), this makes the timetable more "vanilla" and does not require downloading of additional content (this is how I believe it works based on other posts in the forums).

Creating a rail journey for this timetable is not currently planned, and I would be unsure how to approach it. Something to maybe consider post-development.

You can just include your own formations with the timetable. If you look through DTG's DLC, that's what they do as well. I don't know if it's necessary, but it is useful - makes it much easier to find the right formation, and if/when I want to tweak one, I won't have to reassign everything to my own one...

Yeah, you'll need to have the DLC in order to do anything with it. Could be worse though, Tharandter Rampe is a very good one.

Fwiw: I'll include my 'own' formations on the MSB timetable for the freight services too. The default freight formations of MSB all consist of two 185.2's pulling a consist, so I've decided to add my own formations with the default MSB stock. I just added them in a separate 'Formations' folder in my plugin and assume they will be cooked with the timetable when I release it.

The custom formations do indeed cook with the timetable, so you can ultimately create whatever formations you like.

This is helpful, I'll see what proves to be more efficient for the Sbahn services. A new formation for the BR 101 with IC coaches will be a must for IC services serving the Hbf. Thank you all for the tips.

Here's a timelapse of the HBF during am rush hour. 100 minutes of footage condensed into 6. Getting there slowly, one service at a time. Can't wait to diversify the fleet and implement some 101s soon.

    Nice

Coming with that, Dosto Formations are usually orientated with the cab car towards Munich, in the Video it's the other way. Exeptions on this are RE1 trains with Skoda Dostos, those have the loco facing Munich and RE2 Trains, as the cab isn't used on them.

And RB6 Trains, currently they use 2x 442, IRL they run 3x 442

If you want to look up Formations for most DB Regio Services, you can use this website: https://bahn.expert/ If you turn on "Fahrzeuggruppen Name", you can see which train typ is used.
Sadly Sbahn and Südostbayernbahn services, as well as "private" TOCs aren't included.

The thread has been quiet this week, but worry not, I've been picking away at the timetable (mostly troubleshooting shunting movements and new problems introduced by new services). Introducing: IC/EC services with the BR 101, and RE/RB 8*/9* services using the BR 425. I wanted a modular train to be able to eventually simulate coupling/uncoupling in Augsburg, and the 425 was used for a handful of services in the original table, so I thought, why not?

    feb2_5.PNG

I probably should have thought of this before, but the MAG route has the Augsburg Hbf modeled still under construction, missing platforms 9 to 11. For the time being, I have moved 2024 services using platforms 9, 10, and 11 to other platforms with hopes that on-time performance has not been obliterated.

    feb2_4.PNG

Don't worry about the 3 fps, it's more like 20 fps when I'm not clicked out of the PIE.

It seems DTG was reading the thread and really wanted me to implement the 612... DCZ for $8, what a steal.

    Noted, thanks.

I would definitely prefer the BR 425 there as the 423 on non S-Bahn services would seem weird.

Kann man dann auch den ICE 1 fahren? Will it be possible to travel on the ICE 1?

My apologies for the typo, I am running on very little sleep today. RE/RB 8*/9* services between Munich and Augsburg are running on the BR 425, not the 423. Actually, the 425 seen in my post above is an RE9.

Aber natuerlich! Of course! Once I'm finished adding all 24 hours of service, I will substitute a healthy amount of services with the ICE 1 (while trying to follow existing fleet usage).

So, just a small update, have been busy this week with life but we are still making progress. Wanted to create a post the other day but it seemed DTG servers went down.

As mentioned earlier, I have swapped the Dostos for most routes to have the cab car facing the Hbf, as seen below. I tried looking into getting custom PIS text for trains so that they would display the actual destination and the route # (E.g., "RE 1 Nurnberg")... alas to no avail.
    upload_2024-2-10_20-12-56.png

On another note, implementing the RE8*/9* series has caused some issues with sequencing from regional lines into the 2-track section east of Olching. The Fernvehrkehr services will grab the signal way ahead and hold up RE*/9* services for up to 6 minutes. Initially, I had added a waypoint before the merging junction and removed the dispatch beyond for long-distance services, however, this resulted in the unnecessary slowdown of ICE services, as they were forced to approach a danger signal every time that only switched to green when the previous signal was passed.

As an alternative to this, I decided to try playing around with Call on Dependency, allowing only the sprinter services to enter the 2-track section after the regio services passed through the junction, with no excessive slow down for a "fake" danger aspect signal. Unfortunately, this has messed things up with the LZB, as a test run of one of these services showed the LZB was limited to 200 km/h along the entire stretch of high-speed track with no traffic obstructions. Has anyone experienced this? Is there a workaround to this?

I haven't experienced this, but just to be sure: you didn't accidentally enter a speed limit override in the service node?

Your solution sounds correct for what you want to achieve.
