    Hello,

With seeing some of the recent UK third party DLC for TSC, I thought I’d dive back in.

I’ve played TSW exclusively for well over a year now but thought id give it a go! I’d nearly 2000 hours of TSC under my belt had most AP enhancement packs and RW enhancer Pro so these were downloaded and reinstalled.

    What happened?!

Well I was underwhelmed, it’s the classic “Why doesn’t my game look like that” envy I had watching other users streams but I’d say I have pretty mid-high spec PC setup.

    My spec is
    NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 12GB
    13th Gen Intel Core17-13700KF
    32GB RAM
    2560 x 1440, 144Hz

Now while I got TSC looking rather decent with some tweaks from threads off here. All settings on highest SSAA 2X1. Playing DX-12 64 bit experimental version.

    It didn’t perform well.

With FPS uncapped it was a range of 30-80 FPS in game. And while it looked nice and even some of the visuals rivalling TSW in places especially with the AP Sky and Weather 2.0 pack, the lag and the stuttering was unbearable if you went to an outside view for a fly past it looked like a slideshow even though the FPS were fine.

So I capped them at 60 then 30 FPS and it was the same result. There was definitely still lag and stuttering (not tile loading) it wasn’t smooth in the slightest.

Was I doing something wrong? And are there any remedies I haven’t thought of?

Don’t play the dx12 version. It’s an experimental beta. Play the regular 64bit public version.

As I understand it, some parts are in transition from DX9 to DX12 code - but the bulk is still the (cleaned up) DX9 code executed in DX12. Experimental. Runs bad on my end too, so RailWorks64.exe is the thing to use.
