No, Steam is not going away. While Microsoft is ending support for Windows 7, 8, and 10, and Steam has already ended support for Windows 7 and 8, Steam itself is not shutting down. Valve has stated that they have measures in place to ensure users can still access their games if Steam were to be discontinued, though they haven't provided specific details.
    Elaboration:
End of Support for Older Operating Systems
    Systems:
Steam has ended support for older Windows versions like Windows 7 and 8, meaning they will no longer receive updates or technical support for those systems.
    Continued Functionality on Newer Systems:
Steam is expected to continue running on Windows 10 for some time, even after Microsoft ends support, but continued functionality is not guaranteed.
    Steam's Stability:
Steam is a very successful platform and makes a significant amount of revenue, making it unlikely to shut down in the near future
    What if Steam Discontinued?
In the event that Steam were to shut down, Valve has indicated that they would implement measures to allow users to continue accessing their games.
    Licensing vs. Ownership:
It's important to remember that when you purchase a game on Steam, you are buying a license to access it, not the game itself.

Steam is so intrinsic to modern gaming that if it were to fold, the industry would have to find a way of salvaging it.

Well good news Steam are not planning to ditch W10 Support. Like many I am now looking into paying up for the 12 month ESU subscription ($30 or probably £30 UK) so I can keep my old potato going a little longer but if Steam dropped support, would be a different matter. Think I read somewhere they kept Win 7 support going until some 3 or 4 years after end of support from MS, which should give a bit of wiggle room.
