I just spent two hours growing increasingly worried that I had royally F'ed up my lighting beyond repair. my biggest hint as to the real problem came when I noticed moving the light *behind* my station wall actually made it correctly lit. It turns out Blender just sometimes sucks at exporting normals. Have a look at what checking the "recompute normals" box (and applying changes) in the static mesh editor (in the PC Editor) resulted in: the moral of the story: Don't trust your normals just because the imported faces were visible. And as Douglas Adams famously wrote, "Don't Panic!"
