These stations are in the game, complete with passengers waiting for trains that will never arrive. They’re located along the unelectrified stretch of rail between Aschaffenburg Hbf and the Aschaffenburg Harbor/Docks. I spawned at both stations on foot and had a look around. I’m pleased to report that the whole area looks very detailed. A huge shame it’s not being used, although I do understand that the trains which service these stations in real life are unavailable in the game. Nevertheless, I wonder if there’s some sort of combination of Diesel locomotive + passenger wagons that are in the game which has been used on that route in the past, theoretically allowing at least a handful of short services serving these two stations per day. The train could depart from Aschaffenburg Hbf Platforms 7 or 8, stop at Hochschule and Süd, and then drive in the other direction, returning to the Hauptbahnhof. These services would not interfere with the current timetable because they travel on previously unused tracks and add versatility to the entire route. I love discovering unusual stations in TSW, but a whole area meant for passenger trains that has never been used is very unique to say the least! Below are some pictures I took of the two stations: Aschaffenburg Hochschule: Aschaffenburg Süd:
If you have the DB BR 204 DLC, it uses that track, but only for freight. I have no idea what runs there IRL. A DMU of some sort?
I'm not sure what that Wiki article has to do with the Main-Spessart railway, or its spur to Ascghaffenberg Hafen. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Main–Spessart_railway
Surely it could be part of plan f, g or h to run a diesel train at some point in the future as an extension?
Yeah, but if you want to use German passenger trains like the Talent 2 or ICE3, don’t forget to activate Off The Rails! Otherwise, the train will lose power after leaving Aschaffenburg Hbf due to the lack of overhead lines. There’s a few cool fictional services you can create! On another note, does anyone know if the Lohr branch line with the industrial sidings is available in the Scenario Creator or exclusive to a few of the shunting loco scenarios and services? Can’t seem to find it!
iirc, tsg has said that they plan to make the 218 when they have finished the current dlc they have in the works
DTG could fairly easily do the ubiquitous BR 644, the diesel Talent, which does Regio duties all over Germany's non-electrified lines.
Talent 1 is rather rare. Most of all you see 642, 620, 622 and Lint 41. Pesa Link may also be there by 2021.
The diesel portion of Main Spessart Bahn Aschaffenburg-Gemünden this time the Main Valley Railway towards Aschaffenburg Port. One of the locomotives been here recently is the Stadler Euro Dual Locomotive. If Dovetail Games wanted a passenger and freight service to the port of Aschaffenburg then a Bundle of DB BR633 Polish Pesa Link & Stadler Euro Dual BR159 should work. Purchase them that should enable you to operate them on SKA HRR RRO HMA Hanseatic League main line Hamburg-Lübeck & RSN. Keeping in mind with Dovetail Games theme of German DLC locomotives operating on other German routes. Main Spessart Bahn Aschaffenburg-Gemünden gets RT DB BR182 RSN RRO DB BR185 Red DB BR143 & DB BR155.
A good idea; but I'm not sure DTG's license agreement with DB would allow them to put HVLE trains in the game. Same problem with the Abellios on parts of the R-R S-Bahn
Good point. It still has the old tunnel and Heigenbrucken station, which were bypassed by the new tunnel in 2017.
Thank you for telling me about it because I based my observations on the current version that has Falkenberg Tunnel Heigenbrücken Laufach and the Euro Dual Locomotive in Aschaffenburg Port. Video of the Euro Dual in Aschaffenburg Port is by Alexander Emmerth
I don't see how this could cause an issue when there has already been non-DB stock released for TSW, the MRCE 185.2, and much more historically in TS1.
Oh boy, do I have news for you By the way, if anyone sees this thread, please don't lock it! This topic is actually very relevant again now with the possibility of layering the BR 612 onto Main Spessart Bahn to serve the two aforementioned unused stations. Cheers
Yeah seeing these stations makes me wanna ride a passenger train on that stretch of railroad, but no trains are available. At least, I don't suppose the BR204 has a consist with passenger coaches in the scenario planner?
It never ran there. At the time MSB is set, that short spur to Wertheim was serviced by 628s. (possibly Desiros were there by then, but I think it unlikely) Tilting trains are rather expensive to build and maintain; DB aren't going to use them where not needed.
Of course, but that doesn’t mean it can’t be added to the route as a layer. Many trains in TSW run at places where they wouldn’t normally run. Some S-Bahn layers and that very short DoSto formation in RSN are just a few examples. I think it’s worth it to make these unused stations accessible.
Well, funny fact by the way, in the last PresCrew MSB Update, Adam's team fitted these stations with working PIS (and then forgot to remove them for the final build). To make it clear, it's not a rant that these stations still have the working PIS...so no need for Adam to remove them!
What, so you can drive for two stops in either direction? The diesel services terminate at Aschaffenberg Hbf.
Why not? It’s a cool and very unique ride. Actually takes a bit of time because the speed limit isn’t high. Perfect task for the Preservation Crew after they’ve tackled their currently huge workload.
The Preservation Crew does not build new locos! (This is a 628. A 612 looks nothing even remotely like it; far worse than the 422/423 swap on SKA )
A 612 layer on this would be far from ideal but it would be better then nothing, and nothing is what we've currently got!!
Ooooooooohh.... The 628 was one of my favourite little trains to drive in Train Simulator. Would love to see it in TSW.
A diesel passenger train for DB branch lines is needed. If DTG were mindful they could add in the section of track between Langerwehe and Stollberg on the Koln Aachen route where there are 3 additional small stations Eschweiler West, Talberg? and Eschweiler-Weisweiler, where a small diesel service could be added on as a layer, and not interfere with the main route. Plus having the opportunity for some small freight runs. Now that would be a worthy expansion pack.
