Hello all Today i am suggusting a feature where the doors off the platform wont open i think this could be achived by placing invisable triger points and cars/doors that havent gone over the triger points wont be opened the triger points could be a simller way as to how annocuments are triggerd on fife circle for example whats everyones opion on this for every passnger train in the game
The system already exists, it's called SDO (selective door operation). The Class 380 DLC for Cathcart Circle has it. Basically it just needs to be implemented in more trains, where appropriate, obviously
What if I want to dump passengers out randomly? It's their fault if they're too busy on their cell phones to notice they're not at the platform =-)
There's more to it than just SDO. There needs to be a system in place for every train, if the doors are not adjacent to a defined passenger boarding area they don't open, regardless of the kit or otherwise on the train. It's not just if the driver messes up the stop, but some trains (particularly on classic routes or the likes of WSR) are longer than the stations they call at. Totally incongruous to see a rake of Mark One or Mark Two stock with all the doors off the platform wide open. This shouldn't even need to be a suggestion for an optional feature, DTG should sort it. Doesn't happen in TSC so why should it be an issue in the all singing, all dancing TSW. Presumably something else "Engineering" can't get to grips with, same as the save game slots.
Actually just watch The Morristown line preview stream, And it looks like they implemented it. Not sure if it’s only to that route or not.
Mhm I don't agree with that. If I overshoot with my BR 423 the platform, it is my fault. In real life there is also no function that only opens doors which are on the platform. At least not in germany. So this would be an unrealistic feature to add.
Some german trains have a switch to not open the first/last door, which is actually used on some routes (Such as the RB33 at Aachen Schanz Station), but otherwise, I‘m not aware of such a system in germany.
Maybe so, but in the UK loco hauled stock without central door locking or SDO may legitimately call at stations with short platforms, with common sense stopping passengers trying to leave the train when not at a platform, particularly in a historical setting. Even power door stock without SDO such as 150’s and 158’s had a procedure for short platforms. Either the rear set is locked up out of use. Or the Guard only releases the local door and passengers board and alight through that.
So... wouldn't that be a passenger issue if anything, not a door issue? Just make it so NPCs only leave a door if it detects a corresponding platform outside the door? I'm not saying this is necessary by any means. It's not an issue for me in the game. I just don't take the whole game serious enough to worry about NPCs doing silly things. HOWEVER, for people who expect "realistic" performance.... then instead of going to every train in the game and having to develop rules for each one, just fix the NPC passengers. it would be time consuming of course, but it would only take (in theory) coding the NPCs to "release" to the platform when the door is next to a platform. Again, it's not a big enough deal for me to care about implementing...but if TSW runs out of "cool new features" to do, they could also do this and promise "better NPCs that don't exist at the wrong spot" for TSW 9 or TSW 10.
