An alternative sim might look at Nurnberg as it has a cargo ring, an U-Bahn and quite simple S-Bahn lines and multiple near-by regional passenger rail destinations. Tramau could have been Nurnberg or Freiburg or even just Augsburg. The cargo ring offers a lot for freight fan activity as opposed to A-B long hauls.
