The EJ&E was a railroad that ran from Waukegan, Illinois to Gary, Indiana and would make a great route in TSW2. The Western Subdivision runs between Waukegan and Joliet. The West sub has plenty of switching and interesting industries. Between the yard and industrial complex in Waukegan to the small branches and the yard in Joliet, the EJ&E route would be a lot of fun to play on. Some other parts along the route could be the industries at North Plainfield, “walker”, the Illinois river line and or the bug line. There is a website called EJ&E archive that was built by dedicated fans of the EJ&E to educate people about the railroads rich history and importance. The website has detailed maps, aerial photos and a lot of helpful information to create a route. As of Feb 2009 the EJ&E is a part of the Canadian National but it has been barely changed. Google maps would also be a fantastic tool. The EJ&E was an important Chicagoland railroad because it bypasses all of the congested rail-traffic in busy Chicago. The EJ&E was primarily a steel railroad but also often served many other customers as well. The J would bring a coal train from the BNSF yard in Eola, south to Joliet, and then to a place near the IL/IN border. The train was called the state line coal train. In the later years, the ej&e would get this train from the Union Pacific yard in the town of West Chicago. The EJ&E had many connections to other railroads and industries. The EJ&E route would make a superb addition to Train Sim World 2. http://www.ejearchive.com/index.php?/
