Ability To Create Our Own Routes

i would like the ability to create my own routes and test tracks in train sim world 2
this is done in TS so why not in train sim world this wont affect the amount of people buying i don't think
a lot of youtubers use test tracks to do reviews on locos and races

 

They have been working on making it user friendly and getting to the public for 2 years now

 

I was thinking of making this sort of suggestion earlier I would love for it to be in the game sometime this year

 

And just asking are you implying that this would be free or not as I’d happily pay for this feature instead of a route dlc

 

whatever dovetail want to do, i would certainly pay for something like this then i can test how fast the 377 can actually go

There will not be a way to make your own routes in TSW2. All plans for the editor they use to create routes being released to the public were scrapped last year. It’s not going to happen.

 

They don't want to release the route editor because of licensing issues. If they get told they are allowed to make a route and then one of us makes it they get in BIG trouble, from us and the route owner. They would have to remove the route and then everyone would hate them for doing so. It's the same reason we can't currently share our livery's. They have explained before in a stream but can't remember which one.

 

I used to have Trainz simulator 2007 this simulator allowed you to drive and create your own routes
I used to make my own routes they wasnt real ones but i used to make them look like they could be a real railway i loved that game unfortunately it stopped working but how can they give people a route editor and tsw cant
I think the latest version of trainz 2021 has a route editor and they havent been told to stop people making their own routes yet

 

That’s not the reason there is no editor though. It’s more complicated than that and is related to TSW using Unreal 4 rather than its own game engine. DTG also make Train Simulator in which you can make your own routes, just like in Trainz. If that’s what you like doing, get one of those sims.

 

The problem isn't the licensing when it comes to route building. The issue is trying to optimize the route building for the xbox and ps4. The game is already pushing the consoles limits as far as hardware. And releasing a route builder for only PC wouldn't be fair and would be kind of pointless with TS2021 already having a route builder.
