I am looking for an early-liveried AC electric loco (class 81 to 86, or AL1 to AL6 for old fogies like me) for use in the background as AI in 1960s-era scenarios and wondered if anybody has any suggestions.

I do own the old Iron Horse House AL2 loco from years gone by which would be ideal but something seems to have become corrupted along the way and although it is listed in the editor, it doesn't actually show when you try and use it in a scenario.

Perhaps the first question should be whether anybody else still has it and whether it works for them. I should have all my old downloads backed up on CD-ROM in storage but they will take hours to find.

Second question is whether there are any alternatives. I did trace a Class 85 but it a) is in BR Blue without a four-character headcode, and b) requires three commercial products (class 86 and 87) to be purchased for it to work which is a bit excessive for AI use.

For now I am using a BR Blue liveried class 86 but wonder if anybody could suggest anything else. I have seen a class 86 in electric blue (without four-character headcode) at https://www.vulcanproductions.co.uk/electric.html but the author (Matthew Wilson) says it might not work (!) and again it requires more than one commercial product to be purchased.

For now I am using a BR Blue liveried class 86 but any suggestions for something more appropriate will be welcomed.

    Thanks in advance.

    John

PS - I try to be fussy about grammar and am not exactly pleased that the editor has changed AC and AI into mixed-case and doesn't allow me the opportunity to correct that!

Backdated Train Sim's class 85 only needs WCML North, other requirements are for the scenarios that come with it.
The IHH class 82 works OK still for me (check that you still have the .GeoPcDx file) and this 86 doesn't need anything apart from the RSC pack.

Thanks, that's brilliant news and it didn't cost me a penny! But I need a slap on the wrist for only "scan-reading" the requirements.

Interestingly, the BR Blue examples appeared as soon as I ticked the BackdatedTrainSim box in the requirements, but the Electric Blue ones required keithmross/WCMLNorth aswell. Not a problem, but without that I get exactly the same response as I was with the IHH 82 - it is listed but can't be placed in a scenario.

So maybe I just need to tick an extra box for the IHH loco too - I have tried the likely candidates but no luck yet. If that is what it needs, it isn't an IHH one as I have just tried ticking the lot!

Incidentally, in steamapps\common\Railworks\Assets\IHH\Class_82\RailVehicles\Electric\Class_82\Default\Engine I have four GeoPcDx files listed, which looks to be complete?

Whilst it would be nice to get the IHH one running again, I am now a happy bunny - thanks again.

UPDATE - Rumbled it! The IHH loco also requires keithmross/WCMLNorth and works fine with that selected. Hoorah, all is good!

Yeah, that's as it should be...or at least as how my copy is....
Just checked in the .bin files...it uses (at least) the head out camera and cab view from the WCML-N class 86

That's where I finally looked after all these years!

I do have a soft spot for these locomotives, even if I am more of a steam buff. To prove I'm an old xxxx, I went to see the first day of electrics at Euston. And in later years, there were still a few of the older types still running when I worked at Willesden in the 1980s and they always stood out in the crowd being so different to an 86 in looks.

    Anyway, thanks again.
