For a year at this point I've been making suggestions for the Acela to be in the TSW franchise, and now my friends, it finally is! So lets discuss what we have so far! This is the first image I wanted to bring up! Now it is on the store page for it, but to be honest it looks very promising, and better than the one we have in TSC! Now there are a couple thing's I could nitpick about, but I think it looks good as is! The second thing I wanted to talk about was this video Now straight off the bat the sounds are great! A very big upgrade from the original TSC Acela, and they overall sound good! A couple things I noticed that caught my attention was when the engine starts to move, it lacks that delayed fan start up sound, but then again it is a WIP so I think that will get sorted out! Another thing that caught my attention was the lack of noise in cab. I'm not sure if it's actually that quiet in the cab in real life, but from what I've seen in video's of cab rides and stuff like that it seems to be a little bit too quiet. Other than those two things the sounds are spot on for me! The third and final thing I wanted to talk about was the actual train model! From comparing the two images above, I'd say the model looks great! Only thing that looks a little different are the headlights, and I'm not sure why, but It's most likely because of the time these were both taken at. Bottom looks about afternoon while the top looks like morning. Let me know what you think about the DLC! I already pre-ordered it, and can't wait for its release, but if you don't feel the same way, let me know!
It looks like an awesome train. This one makes American routes look interesting to me. Probably boring to drive like all HST's but a railway without HST traffic looks dull. Indeed the headlights are different but they look good
It looks really nice and I'm looking forward to driving it on Boston! Also want to support the idea of continuing to develop more loco DLC
Same. Loco add-ons are the best. I am tired of half finished routes with missing rolling stock, barren of life. Loco add-ons usually fill the gaps or at least ad variety, make a route come alive much more. So really happy that Boston is finally getting the Acela. Would also like to see a new MBTA pack in the future.
I'm happy to see it coming. Brings back a lot of MSTS memories for me. I'm just glad they're getting around to it now. I was worried that Amtrak might sooner or later tell DTG to stay away from the Acela and model the Avelia Liberty for better brand representation or something like that.
One thing that I am hoping to see if they got right is the horn! That's almost always been a thorn in the side of American content, however I have hope!
The horn recordings were done last November and sound really great in my opinion. I don't think any of the testers have talked negatively about the horn.
The Acela is indeed looking really good. I'm glad that they finally got headlight colors correct. Can't wait to try it myself.
You actually don't have enough data to make that assertion. The train has already reached the speed where the fans start up in the video.
Almost identical to the real thing and this was done with DTG having travelled to Boston Southhampton Street Yard Wilmington, DE and Washington DC Amtrak repair shops to take the actual Acela express rendering. Another cover art I see with the Acela Express is on NEC NYC Trenton with it travelling over the New Brunswick, NJ Raritan River Viaduct which has one of the arches have a motorway run underneath it RT-18 UK terminology A18(M)
