I imagine IRL train drivers don't aim for centimeter precision when stopping but to stop as smoothly and comfortably as possible, i.e. not slamming and releasing the brakes rapidly. Why can't we have points awarded for that alongside precision points?
I guess the difficulty with adding this would be with deciding what the suitable smoothness of the braking is for each route and how to measure how close the player is to that standard. I always strive to be as smooth as possible when stopping but have no idea if the game could even recognise that. Whenever possible I use slow acceleration and deceleration for speed limit changes and signals too. It would be nice to have that rewarded.
Haven't played it for a while, but I recall that you were deducted points for doing something to upset the comfort of passengers and/or the stability of freight in TSC. Hard braking would be one of the criteria. Could be activated in the scoring for TSW. If the game can recognize speeding, it should be able to recognize things like hard braking, taking a curve or switches too fast or coupling at speed.
