What's the deal with action points? Why are they there? They seem to be important as you rack them on every service but what do you get out of them? The action points seems to be a video game mechanic. Get points and with those points you get rewards. But there are no rewards. Why not implement rewards? Ok this might not be a the best example as NPC's are not ideally fleshed out in this game but what if a route got busier with passengers the more AP you racked up to that route?
They take up big chunk of the HUD but I don't get why I would like to be informed how much action points I'm gaining. If there is no point to action points why are they even on the HUD?
It's for those who want to treat it as a game and care only for the achievements and getting all golds and the highest scores possible so they feel a sense of accomplishment and pride.
“You’ve just been awarded some action points”… woohoo I’ve always disliked action points, I’m not interested in what medal I obtain. If I complete the service and I’m within a couple of minutes of the ETA, then I’m happy.
It wouldn't be bad if they implemented something like this with improved customisation of our avatars. You could have different items of clothing unlock depending on your overall player or route level, like getting a selection of high vis jackets from freight routes, etc.
