Following on from my earlier thread in the discussion forum, I did a little more research and am now relatively certain that the PS5 add-on mounting issues mentioned in the past few roadmaps are also affecting Mannheim-Kaiserslautern.

    The problem
The concrete impact I’m noticing is that the AI trams at Mannheim, which layer in from Edinburgh-Glasgow, are missing. The tram layers show as owned and active in the layer selection screen. They’re very important for the route as they densely populate the vast amount of otherwise empty tram tracks accompanying the mainline from the station all the way across the river.

    Why this is probably happening
I have quite a lot of the content mentioned in the timetable deep dive article. Apart from one little loco DLC, I own all the other routes and trains that can layer in, so hitting the 64GB DLC mounting limit is realistic for me. I imagine it must be even worse for those who own additional content that can substitute locos and freight wagons into various services, so would be loaded in the background as well.

Super easy way to fix this
I see extremely easy ways to fix this — arguably even more obvious than the changes that are being made to Stuttgart-Heilbronn to alleviate a similar problem appearing there. Taking another look at the timetable deep dive linked above, a few layers with very inefficient memory usage stand out to me:
    • The rail tour layer uses the DB BR 103 from Linke Rheinstrecke for two services. Presumably to promote the Mittenwaldbahn, which came out around the time Mannheim-Kaiserslautern released, the intercity wagons are the Rheingold ones from that route. But the 103 could also easily use its own intercity wagons from the Linke Rheinstrecke DLC. This would prevent the absolutely huge (due to the detailed scenery, I assume) Mittenwaldbahn route from being loaded all the time in the background — just for wagons that appear on two services and can easily be replaced.
    • The Frankfurt-Fulda layer could also be reconsidered, since that’s another absolutely massive route that doesn’t bring all that much to the timetable. The DB BR 193 Vectron is a mere substitution for the included freight loco, and the ICE T operates a single service in each direction (which could easily be taken over by the route’s own ICE 3, or just be deleted outright).

    Conclusion
I hope this situation is considered as part of the add-on mounting fixes coming to the game in the near future. Perhaps some of the suggested layer changes could be implemented to help solve the issue, like on Stuttgart-Heilbronn. Maybe some PS5 developers or beta testers reading this can check whether the incoming general add-on mounting core changes are already enough to make all layers appear again.

Thank you for your attention :)

PS — few additional data points in case anyone needs them: OG PS5 with built-in disk drive, newest PS5 software, newest TSW6 patch (as of March 15, 2026), TSW6 is located on my expansion SSD (both the built-in and expansion SSDs have plenty of free storage), 74 TSW6 add-ons installed in total
