Still new to all of this....but what does this Add-ons Manager actually do or stand for? I did a search but I only found out, it being released and not being released errrrrrrr
So, there's a bit of a story here. Sony introduced a cap of 64GB last year for Add-ons for a particular game - and at that time the amount of Add-ons we'd put into TSW2 surpassed that. Players weren't able to see certain content until they uninstalled others. After working with Sony on a number of options, Add-ons Manager is what we settled on to make the least impact to players for the biggest benefit. Essentially it 'mounts' your Add-ons to your gaming session, so you only 'use' the content you need during a specific session (and therefore don't go over the 64GB limit. Hope I've described that accurately, but that's what I understand it to be! This has been in production a while - as it's an improvement we're putting into all versions of the game (there's a bit of a memory-save as well, so it may help with any out-of-memory errors) - and we'd hoped to release the TSW2 version before TSW3 launched. We found an issue last week though so it needs more work on it before we release. Hope that's brought you up to speed!
Nothing for PC for a while. Basically, on PS5, there is a hard cap on how much DLC can be installed for a game at any one time. To work around this, DTG are developing a system which will only load the DLC required for the content you choose to play. This will also have a positive effect on how much ram TSW is using, as having all content loaded in when you aren’t using it, is wasting memory. The actual logistics are unknown, along with the issues they’re having, I imagine the game will look for licences so that you can still see the content in the menus, but only load the route & rolling stock if it’s required.
The latest: The past two weekends we've sent builds to our beta community to test. The first: had a fairly major issue, which we believe we fixed The second: had some knock-on issues from the fix above, but not as significant as the first. We're hoping to get another one out later today, but no release date yet publicly.
DTG JD will the add-on manager allows us to download all the content we have even over 64gb then once we choose the service do it's magic?
The limitation is on mounted content, so this manager they're making will mount and demount the DLC you need to run what you're doing rather than as now where all DLC are mounted at all times So yes, you will be able to have the content downloaded and on your machine, and the game will work out what's needed at any time and only mount the required content
It worked very successfully on TSW2 so I am certain it will be ok on TSW3. I have had to uninstall 25% of my content to make TSW3 work properly. With all content installed it just doesn’t load.
