I want to change the maximum track speed of about a 40 km range of track (NEC, NY - Philadelphia). This should be pretty straightforward, but it is simply an impossible task as it seems. In the manual (RW Creator Manual_Web) it states that the primary and secondary speed can be set before track laying. Does that mean you can't change it afterwards, since that is not mentioned explicitly? I don't see why not, but considering the problems it seems pretty arduous (on the cloned route). Also not specified, what does secondary speed mean? Can I leave this unchanged? It is equal or lower than the maximum speed as far as I noticed and I want to raise the maximum speed. The online manual does not give any clearance either. The problem is that when I select a track (and it turns gray), changing the primary speed and going to the adjacent track and doing the same it switches back to original speed, pressing F2 after each change seems a bit stupid and something shows 'nothing to be saved' after changing it. Whatever. Trying to do an entire line of track first makes also no difference. Also the fact that you can't undo inadvertent changes by not saving them is no option, if that so happens; you have to kill train simulator in the taskmanager. I haven't found another solution. Thanks
Primary speed is Passenger Secondary speed is freight. You can change the speeds at any time you wish using the track select tool this video will show you all you need to know. Yes closing the editor (either Alt + F4, Alt + Tab and click on the red x or via Task manager as you're doing) is currently the only way to close without saving Ignore the fact its for TS2014 nothing has changed (other than the gizmo). (the above embedded video doesn't show on my mobile phone for some reason) https://www.youtubeDOTcom/watch?v=7MIV6Yimt2Y (change the DOT to an actual . )
Excuse me for not giving practical advice on the how (as I don't know / do that), but you can refer to one of the Acela scenarios on this NEC section on how to increase speed, as well as an old ICE 1 scenario on Hagen-Siegen. Temporary speed reductions are fairly common as well.
Use the "Select" tool in Network editing mode, select a piece of track and you can drag a ribbon. Then set the new speed for your selection. I've repaired the wrong Clinchfield speed reduction before that tunnel (15) because the adjacent siding ribbon reaches into the main track.
All that is explained and shown in the video I linked (It seems if this forum is viewed via smartphone the embedded video doesn't show, well it doesn't for me, must be a setting needs altering maybe)
Thanks all. I did a quick try and was able to select two tracks at once, not sure how that happened because I don't know how to repeat that trick. Thanks for the help.
