Sorry if this has been suggested before, then I didn't see it. I get that this stuff should not take priority, but... Everytime I see these ads like these in stations I cringe: This is disgraceful in terms of believability. I wouldn't mind real ads but this might open a different can of worms, so: If the Dovetail artists are too busy to create something better, why not make a competition out of it? I'm sure there are talented people out there who can make a better fictional ad for a fictional product. "Get your artwork into TSW, to be admired by thousands of people!", or something like that. As a price, maybe gift the best ones as chosen by DTG or the community a free DLC?
These are textures taken from Hagen-Siegen, the first german route for Kuju Rail Simulator (2007) - which made its way into TSW being cropped to prematurely end at Finnentrop for reasons unknown.
That's a good idea, but you've just given me an idea. DTG could try advertising real companies and real products on the posters - possibly to match ones up at stations at the time references were taken. In collaboration with the companies, this could result in some additional income which they could use to either reduce DLC prices, or spend more time on each route. If a company refuses to pay to be advertised in the game or wants DTG to pay to use their brand in the game, DTG could just offer the opportunity to a different company - or use a fictional poster designed in the way you've suggested.
They already have in TSW. That’s what the option in settings for Bidstack is. Don’t think it ever worked that well and thankfully they were optional. There are also the rather horrible Pringles machines / ads which could not be turned off.
Think advertising still in a bit of a state following collapse of the Bidstack initiative. All routes need the Bidstack signs removing and replacing with static boards, displaying something fictional or licensed from reality. Another element of the game that seems to have sunk into development apathy on DTG’s behalf.
