Have you releases both direct brake in both cab and released automatic brake in back cab? Have you removed the master key from the other cab and reinserted in the cab you're about to drive from? Have you releases the parking brakes in both cabs? Is emergency brake demand valve open in either cabs? Never had any issues with this scenario. Go through the above and hopefully it will work.
