genesis I kindly report: AI trains cheat! The weather does not matter - climbing this hill is no problem. Buuu I've always thought SimuGraph, adhesive physics apply to everyone, and here we go. It may not be a problem, but it is a surprise for me and I feel a bit sad even. Are whole and all timetables so scripted? Speed, where-when-what, even as AI pulls a million tons? Oh, chicken... explore on foot - evidence - DB83122, wet
In TSx they reduced the CPU load by applying the physics and limitations only to the front section of any consist (usually the front loco) If they've done similar in TSW that would account for your observations as only the front loco has any weight or adhesion to begin with!
Yes, detailed physics only get calculated for player driven consists. AI trains only get very toned down calculations. You can see this pretty well from the fact that AI trains don't sway around, for example. Get in a train as a passenger for example, and the ride will be completely smooth - which is pretty lame btw. Also I remember there being a problem where on Sand Patch you can't even properly cold start locos without sitting in the driver seat, because if you're just stading around, the physics doesn't start working and the loco never starts. Also pretty lame.
Yeah it's so annoying and cheeky when some AI fully loaded sandpatch autorack speeds off from 0 to 60 in about 10 seconds
Yeah, maybe(?) BR185.2 engine for banking is a bit underpowered (between Laufach and higher point on Spessart ramp, on the 6:49am banking timetable, I reach 30km/h, not more) but Im in love the same!
Maybe that's something DTG can pick up on. "Any consist where the player has interaction becomes a full simugraph consist" rather than they have to sit in the driver's seat...
I think the reason AI doesn't have the full physics is because it would create extra load on running the game. It would be good if some of the unrealistic AI behaviour could be toned down a little. For example riding on a 3 car class 101 on the TVL it accelerates too smartly away from station stops and whilst it sounds fine generally, you don't hear, either inside or outside, the distinctive sounds of the driver changing gear. Some sway would be good too.
