I would like to understand how TSW substitutes liveries from the creators club, as I dont seem to be able to figure it out by myself:|

I have mainly been playing around with this on DRA. Added quite a lot of freight liveries for all sorts of waggons as well as quite a lot of liveries for all my freight locos.

My first run was quite exiting! Basically all AI locos I spotted were custom liveries. This was different with the freight waggons. I did see a lot of substituations for Habbiins, however, none for Zacns (and others).

When I drove on DRA again the next day, I noticed that all AI trains were fitted with a standard MRCE 185.5. Habbiins still substituted, no other stock substituted, like before. Now, the locos may have been a coincidence, however, I am talking about 10+ trains (yes, spend a lot of time playing around in free roam...), so its rather unlikely.

Fired up again afterwards, just to check and again, first train was a MRCE 185.5, second was a 143 in front of a freight train. Both had standard liveries.

I just want to undestand what the game is doing an if I have and possibility to influence this process?! What are your experiences?

I don’t know what it’s like on PC, but here’s what I found on PS5.

Creator’s Club doesn’t seem to be stored locally permanently but is instead re-downloaded all the time. At least there’s some license checking going on if it isn’t a proper re-download, but I believe so. If you’ve got quite a collection of CC content, I’ve found that the game pretty consistently fails to automatically re-download everything.

It does seem that content with the most recent initial download dates are more likely to work, but that seems more a pattern than a rule in my experience. What I usually have to do if there are reskins I really want to show up is to go into CC and manually unsubscribe and subscribe to the ones in question and then head straight for the run I want to do.

So, if substitution works on DRA for you sometimes, I’d check my subscriptions on CC before a run as a start. Maybe it’ll help and if not, we at least know that the problem lies with the substitution system itself and not CC :)

Makes absolute sense! And also fits to my observations. It only really worked the first time, just after I have subscribed to the liveries. After rebooting the game, it was only the Waggons that showed up, which I have downloaded last. I am on PC but it seems to work the same way. So, thanks for sharing.

It only seems to explain one part of the mysteries, though. It does not explain why it was only the Habbiins that worked and none of the other waggons. Also, why I only saw one kind of loco on all my encounters with AI traffic on one of my run (although this seems unrelated to the liveries topic).

Maybe someone from DTG can shed some light, if known?!

Remember that typically only five custom liveries can show up in any particular instance. Also, some locos seem to have a much higher propensity than others to spawn, while some locos and other stock don't work at all. Finally, at least on Xbox, it is also important to remember to clear the cache if you delete any downloaded liveries, or else they will continue to show up.

More specifically for DRA, I have found that the BR143 appears to have a much higher spawn rate than either the 146 or 185. The wagons will usually show if you are keeping your overall total less than five. Good luck.

Do you (or anyone) know if clearing the cache is also a thing on PC? Last night I unsubscribed everything, started the game new and still saw custom liveries…

Well here's how it's working on Xbox for me
    upload_2023-10-3_14-39-59.png
That's supposed to be the original HST Inter City blue and yellow.

God know what livery that should be but I've also had the 66 appears plain green!
And here's the best one I've had so far

Seems to me that the issues creators club is causing in 4 on Xbox reach further than just causing the game to CTD

Yes, makes also sense. Thinking about it and reading your comment, the locos I saw last night may very well have been a uni-colour as well, just as encountered by yourself.

Do you know if this has been brought to DTGs attention anywhere?

I don't know the answer to this. It does seem that, generally, just deleting the subscribed liveries from Creators Club is not enough to actually get rid of them. Good luck.
