Hello and welcome to another route suggestion, this time I'll be suggesting the Airedale and Wharfedale lines! I've suggested this before but I will hopefully be going into a bit more detail on this one. The airedale and wharfedale lines is a commuter line in West Yorkshire and is also one of the only electrified Northern lines in west Yorkshire (with Leeds to Donny being the other one). This route will have many services and has a top speed of 90mph. The route length is 43 miles including Neville hill depot. The services on this route include: Leeds to Bradford forster square (calling at: Kirkstall Forge, Apperley Bridge, Shipley, Frizinghall) Leeds to Ilkley (Calling at: Guiseley, Menston, Burley-in-Wharfedale, Ben rhydding) Bradford forster square to Ilkley (Calling at: Frizinghall, Shipley, Baildon, Guiseley, Menston, Burley-in-Wharfedale, Ben rhydding) Leeds to Skipton (Calling at: Shipley, Saltaire, Bingley, Crossflats, Kieghley, Steeton and silsden, cononley) Bradford forster square to Skipton (Calling at: Frizinghall, Shipley, Saltaire, Bingley, Crossflatts, Keighley, Steeton & Silsden, Cononley) (All services are 2tph and are the same stopping patterns the other way) There's also some services in the morning and evening going to neville hill depot For the passenger services, the services happen around 6:00 to around 23:00. That makes around 408 passenger services alone. Included trains The Class 333: Nicknamed a 'fishbowl' and viewed as ugly by some rail enthusiasts and as futuristic by others, the 333 does the majority of the services on the airedale and wharfedale lines. The class 331/1: The newest train on the airedale and wharfedale lines, this doesn't do as many services as the 333, but still quite a lot. Layers/AI services there are quite a few freight services throughout the day that go between skipton and whitehall jnct/Neville hill gbrf sidings which can be used with the 66 from sehs/gwe/ecw. The 158 (in northern livery) from mml can be used for quite a few services: Leeds to Morecambe 8 trains a day (Calling at: Shipley, Bingley, keighley and Skipton on this route, the same the other way) Leeds to Carlisle 8 trains a day, this can be a 158/7 but the 158/8 can be used for those services even if it's not realistic (Calling at: Shipley, Bingley, keighley and Skipton on this route, the same the other way) Leeds to Lancaster 6 trains a day (Calling at: Shipley, Bingley, keighley and Skipton on this route, the same the other way) Quite a few railtours happen on this line irl between Leeds and Skipton, these can be used by ntp/tvl/wcl/sos/mml/pfv/33/52 owners. Diesel hauled railtour (47, 52, 45, 37 etc): Skipton to Leeds direct (morning) and back (evening) Steam hauled railtour (LMS jubilee, 4F, 8F): Skipton to Leeds Stopping at Keighley and back (morning and evening) HST tour (mml hst), I recommend using a midland pullman or swallow livery for this one , Leeds to Skipton direct and back in the morning and evening They're could be a Steam engine (sos/pfv) or Vintage Diesel loco in the kwvr platforms at keighley and at Leeds (although this doesn't happen anymore) they're should be an EMT hst in one of the platforms or neville hill If the ecml is ever added to tsw3, the intercity 225 and class 801 does services across the airedale lines twice a day The intercity 225 does one service from Skipton to Leeds calling at Keighley and Shipley and the same way back in the evening, also 2 ECSs from Neville hill depot to Skipton in the morning and back from Skipton at night The 801 has an ecs from Neville hill depot to Bradford Forster square, then a service from there to Leeds calling at Shipley. Then in the evening it does the same service to bradford and then an ecs back the Neville hill How this route fits into LAMP Licensing- Northern is currently owned by dft and I am pretty sure dtg have that license Anticipation- This route has been suggested quite a few times before and shouldn't be boring since there are a few branches and not just one full route going from A-B. Mix- There are many services to be done in this route which will keep players occupied for ages. Prominence- Lot's of people have suggested the toc northern for tsw plenty of times. The 333 and 331 should appeal to many players, I mean if the boring electrostars can I'm very sure the 333 and 331 can appeal to players. Thanks for reading
I have also suggested this too its a great line and it would be nice to see them do an expansion pack for this route for the KWVR because that would actually be worth buying rather than a fiver for a livery
Brilliant suggestion mate and would be a gooden to see in game. Also I quite like the look of the 333.
Bring it to me and for the route itself can be future proof for Northern rail diesel routes to give their DMUs here 195 Northern 150/2 & 158 155 these will be from CVL while Tyne Valley Line gives 156 153 150/1 or 150/0 here. Provided both were made. If you set this in 2018 a Pacer combined with Class 150/2 can provide Diesel runs here.
I agree like the suggestion I would definitely buy this one if it does release with included branches
A great route suggestion Lil jj and well researched too! I work very near this route, and use it regularly heading into Leeds, Bradford or Skipton. Lots of interest, stations and branches whilst it lends itself to layering with other UK add ons as suggested. DTG, please do this one!
Update: With the new manchester to glossop route including northern, this means the airedale and wharfedale lines is now possible licensing wise
This line has gotta release for TSW4! I live on this line irl. I'd love to see my station and my favourite train ( the good ol' 333) in TSW. DTG do this please!
I think it's better with these trains currently. The 308s may of been good but the 333s and 331s are better.
For freight they will need a GBRf livery 66 also with all the freight cars as GBRf livery too. Makes it much more realistic than putting EWS on the line as they don't server freight on there.
