So we got introduced to a new third party on the roadmap with a teaser of a station, whats everyones thoughts on what this might be?
My guess is Crewe to Hereford. Different single track route, which adds more TFW stock and a potential for the class 67. 197 as a new locomotive, 153 and 150 layers?
Yeah those pillars & the track layout are dead giveaways for Crewe. Quite a few options for routes out of here, but the one I’m pretty sure it won’t be is towards Wilmslow, on account of ATS doing most of the line into Manchester.
At 110 miles, very unlikely. If it’s the NWC I suspect it’ll be upto Llandudno/Junction, or somewhere closer such as Rhyl.
At first I thought it was going to be a narrow gauge railway then I saw the station and footsteps and just like everyone here - It's definitely Crewe. I'd recognise those support beams anywhere!
The website whilst it is up, it is still under construction so isn't quite ready yet, will update this thread once I have finished it
My first thought was maybe a modern remake of Liverpool to Crewe, but there are so many destinations out of Crewe it could be anything
Hopefully a Class 66 will be involved in some capacity. Sorely under represented in game as it stands
Seeing as we already have the Crewe to Liverpool section (albeit in the 1950s) and we are getting Alderly Edge to Manchester via Stockport or Manchester Airport, I have a feeling this could be the North Wales Coast (potentially Crewe to Llandudno)
Has anyone noticed Skyhooks Cargo Line Pack 3 screenshots have a Pendolino and 66 at a station outside of WCMLS and ECML? And a seafront shot?
The seafront looks a bit like Burntisland. As for the Pendolino it seems to be Carlisle. Could mean we get Preston-Carlisle in modern day and some Fife Circle freight traffic. Although in the case of the latter, I don't think it sees much freight?
Also the Power Station in the background of the snowy shot, they didn’t mention MML on the list of routes and no others immediately spring to mind.
Was wondering where that sea front is. Tbh I think they were just for show. Happy to be proven wrong tho.
The Pendolino one is definitely suspicious. Why would they go the trouble of putting a Pendolino in free roam on another route, and put their new Cargo Pack next to it, all for show? Surely it means something more than that?
Well the cargo pack has been pushed back by what, three months? I thought it was because of WCMLS unable to handle another layer but maybe they have bigger plans now
The All Aboard teaser is all but confirmed to be Crewe so unlikely. However, two possibilities: 1) Carlisle to Glasgow is coming in modern day. Would explain Carlisle station and a Pendolino. 2) Crewe to Carlisle in modern day. The latter is extremely unlikely, and I can't see the former being possible. I have a feeling they're throwing us off. We're either missing something, or reading too far into it.
You can see the old information boards in the background so it wouldn’t be teasing Crewe to Preston .
I see you’ve managed to build somewhere that your previous ‘employer’ suggested was too much for a first attempt!
I didn’t think it would be likely to see 2 modern routes along the same line, but it would be quite amusing.
The pendo shot is definitely on the Preston to Carlisle JT route IMO, as @tstar said because of the yellow PIS/CIS boxes I saw in the screenshot. Definitely Carlisle with the bridge. Would be pretty cool if we got a modern day P2C timetable - I said in another thread a while ago that this would likely make me buy the route! My kind of gameplay, just not fond of older trains
As a local to the Crewe to Derby route, I would love to see this route come to TSW. The route is operated by EMR-branded BR Class 170s* so it would also be nice to see EMR come to TSW *The route also sees the odd Class 158 from time to time and also, EMR tend to send BR Class 222s down the line when its Race Day in Uttoxeter
Crewe - Derby looks to be a popular suggestion for this teaser on Facebook but also *cough* https://forums.dovetailgames.com/threads/tsw4-route-suggestion-derby-crewe-line.78435/ *cough*
Yeah you're definitely right you can see the old Yellow style CIS screens in the screenshot with the Pendolino.
Nah we all know it's gonna be a route with yet ANOTHER class 66 ANOTHER class 47 And maybe....idk... another class 66
Aye, unfortunately I think this is going to be yet another modern UK route... Got too many devs making current day stuff now, it’s tedious. JT & TSG are the only ones making anything interesting now that the BR Class 104 & Peak Forest expansion has been suspended in the void. We’ve already got Crewe in the game set during an infinitely more interesting era, just a shame nobody will make the locomotives add-ons to fill the timetable and help the route meet it’s full potential.
It’s clear that a majority of players prefer modern day routes, so they have to play to their audiences somewhat, especially when it’s a third party dev who needs every penny!
If they only make the modern stuff, they’re only going to attract a modern audience. JT and TSG are out there proving there is demand for something with a vintage. There’s a group of players sticking to TS Classic because that’s the only place you can get a decent experience for certain historical content. Personally, I do enjoy a bit of everything but even I’m getting bored of the status quo. Where’s the variation? It’s the year of Railway 200, they should be using that to put a focus on the history of railways for at least a handful of releases. I also remember Matt on a stream, around the time of TSW’s release, saying Spirit of Steam was the best selling TSW route ever, Peak Forest then came out and then all of a sudden changed the tune to “steam/BR doesn’t sell”. Something just doesn’t add up there.
I feel like if it was a North Wales route it would have started at Chester, not Crewe. And if it was the Marches route I think they'd have started that at Shrewsbury. Crewe is a very complex station to model so if they could have gotten away with starting it somewhere different I think they would have. Is Crewe to Birmingham really outside the realm of possibility? It's not a massive distance, and it's about the right length journey time wise. It would also be a great route to reuse the 350 and Pendolino. That screenshot of the 390 at Carlisle has really gotten my hopes up for a modern Preston to Carlisle. I've mentioned before that I believe DTG and JT would be fools not to combine that train with that route. I know someone mentioned the old information screens at Carlisle as a point against it but keep in mind if something is being developed it isn't close enough to go on the roadmap, so I doubt they'd have gotten round to making physical changes to the route. At least that's what my heart wants to think... Gut feeling though? It's probably something more mundane like Crewe to Derby, using the Fife 170 and MML 158. A welcome route to be sure but nothing to really get excited about.
I was thinking the same regarding NWC, being realistic about TSW, starting that route from Crewe means it gets cut somewhere along the coast, which defeats the purpose of the coastal theme. Chester just makes more sense as a hub & would allow for more focus into the route proper. Going back on the South TFW network though is something I’d definitely go for, I also think if we ever get a ATW/TFW 175, it will be from a third party rather than DTG. As for other options, I’d prefer an EMR/EMT route rather than LNR again, off to Derby is probably the least interesting route out of Crewe (other than into Liverpool) but I would love to get a decent EM run.
