Hello! I am kind of new here but still have almost 100 hours of playtime on TSW2. But I have an issue. I want to know what are the best routes to do first and last, kind of like a ranking system, from easiest to hardest. I did ask ChatGPT first :skull: but with no help. May anyone help? Thank you!

The easiest routes are UK routes with modern traction like East Coastway, Great Western Express, Midland Mainline, Southeastern High Speed, and London Commuter. This is because the controls and signals are simplest.

Then, for more complex signals, you can look towards US and German routes (like Naverkehr Dresden, Boston Sprinter, Schnellfahrstrecke Koln-Aachen, and New York - Trenton), or for more complex controls, you can look to freight locomotives (like SD40s, SD70ACEs and Class 66s).

The easiest route I can think of is London Underground's Bakerloo Line.
The hardest by far are steam locomotives because of the controls.

What experience with TSW have you had so far, and what kind of routes and trains do you like?

Hey! I like mostly electric trains, and I do not like old styled games and old trains. I just like a dlc that has a semi-modernish train at least.

That means all dlcs I should like, exept:

    Tees Valley Line
    CN Oakville Subdivision
    Northen Trans-Pennie
    Clinchfield Railroad
    Cane Creek
    Sherman Hill
    Horseshoe Curve and
    West Somerset Railway

    Thanks for the swift response!

Also, I would like a ranking from shortest line to longest line or least to most services. The ones I will do last are going to be definetly the rush hour ones.

Also, would like to know if its needed to do all the tasks on the route. Like placing posters.

You don't need to do all the tasks unless you want a special achievement for some of them or want a sense of completion.

I can get you the service counts for all the dlcs i have which is most but not all since I'm uninstalled some and haven't purchased some.

Length might take a while though but I'll see what I can do

It's quite hard to gauge the difficulty of DLC, especially once you throw in safety systems (German routes in particular vary the most).

It's really down to what suits your driving style. London Commuter, Southeastern and GWR are up in the "easier" category, so are probably are the good starting points for you to get into TSW, good choices.

The BR Diesel / Steam routes are probably the only "hard" routes in TSW's British Collection.

Welcome to the forums mate, as said above it depends on your view on easy, because personally I find the BR diesels the easiest, including the HSTs, but thats because I've had experience with them in real life, but then I struggled with the electrostars at first because the whole commuter driving style and one power/brake handle with stepped brakes was something I had never come across before so took some getting used to.

Also what I'll say is don't write off routes you don't think you'll like becauee often they are the ones you'll enjoy most. I would highly advise giving either tees valley or nothern transpennine a go if they are on sale, they are my two favourite routes.

Alright, thank you for the warm welcome and ill consider what you said. For me, the easiest routes are the ones with least services, and modern trains. I find difficult steam locomotives. Just to clarify. Any country.

US routes can be among the easiest or hardest depending. The northeastern passenger routes, especially NYT and BP could be rated quite hard because of the demanding safety systems. OTOH, routes like Cajon Pass present no safety system challenge, but can be very treacherous from a physics point of view (bringing 100 loaded cars down a 2+% grade is sphincter-puckering)

Just to check have you got tsw2 or 3?
If you've got 3 I can highly recommend Birmingham Cross City line and the Midland Mainline routes.

Bakerloo is not particularly easy as it's very easy to miss a step and end up with the cab out of config.

"Easy" is also relative depending on whether or not you run with safety systems active.

    [TSW3] Niddertalbahn (medium): 31 km
Cathcart Circle Line (easy): 20 mi
East Coastway (very easy): 23 mi
    Harlem Line (hard): 24 mi
    [TSW3] Bahnstrecke Bremen-Oldenburg (hard I think): 44 km
    Hauptstrecke Rhein-Ruhr (medium): 46 km
Main Spessart Bahn (medium): 52 km
    [TSW3] Birmingham Cross-City (easy): 37 mi
[TSW3] Midland Mainline (easy): 37 mi

    Schnellfahrstrecke Koln-Aachen (medium): 70 km
West Cornwall local (medium): 44 mi
    Peninsula Corridor (hard): 47 mi
[TSW3] ScotRail Express (easy): 48 mi

    Naverkehr Dresden (hard): 83 km
Sand Patch Grade (hard): 52 mi
[TSW3] Linke Rheinstrecke: Mainz Koblenz (hard): 92 km
LGV Mediterreanee (medium I think): 93 km
[TSW3] Northeast Corridor: New York-Trenton (hard): 58 mi
[TSW3] Cajon Pass (very Hard): 85 mi
    [TSW3] Schnellfahrstrecke Kassel-Wurzburg (medium): 186km

I have omitted the DLC you said you don't want and the ones you own, and the difficulty is an estimate (and I don't have most of the above routes)
Others feel free to correct me.

    EDIT 1: They have TSW2, should've checked

That's a more difficult question than it seems, because in many cases routes gain additional services as "layers" from other DLCs. For example, München-Augsburg out of the box only has the 403 and 423, but if you have some other German routes then you also have services for the 146, 185, 143 and 425 just for starters.

Do not forget that the big summer sale is due in a couple of weeks. If I am not mistaken, the previous summer sale discounts reached 80% in some cases.

The safety systems aren't too hard as long you remember you have to keep the brake at suppression until you're below the speed limit.

Update: I decided to make regular updates about my progress and report any bugs I’ve encountered to help devs. So far, East Coastway, my first route, has been very very fun. I love that the route has braches and makes it fun and easy to explore. The services are organized which make them accessible for new users/players. Nothing to mention about the route. So far, all scenarios and tutorials done. I’ve done 33 services so far of like 200 something ish. I have encountered 2 minor bugs so far:

    1. The white circle signal at Brighton, Platform 7, the line is ALWAYS showing proceed, even though the signal is red. This is not an issue in Rush Hour: London Commuter.

    2. Service 2L04 Brighton-Lewes on the Class 377/4 has a signal glitch at London Road. Let me know if I’m wrong.

(I have TSW2 for anyone asking.)
