The class 40 for me on Xbox is either A: broken or B: I’m just putting to much power on.

    Here is what I mean.

So Basically, i put enough to like notch 3, and the loco just slips even with the sander. (Note: this happened on the Class 40 Railtours on Fife Circle.) If i am putting to much power, tell me what power i SHOULD use.

    Are the brakes released?

When starting off just put the throttle to the on position and release the brakes. Only apply more power once you start moving. If the loco brakes happen to be in goods timing and not passenger then it will take a while for the brakes to release. I don’t have Fife Circle so this is just general advice but if your wheels are slipping it’s likely that the brakes aren’t fully released. You may need a little application of power if you are starting on an uphill section but not as much as 30%.

With the Class 40 in TSW, anything above about 12% throttle starting off won’t work, set it to about 12 or 10 and watch the amps, make sure it’s in the green just before it’s not.

Though your issue could well be what’s mentioned above about needing vacuum breaks set for certain wagon pulls.

You need to change the Class 40 brakes to Vacuum Passenger on the wall behind you on the Right Side.

Platform Xbox Series S. After yesterday’s update there appears to be an issue with spawning certain trains in free roam. So far I’ve attempted all types of 47, 40 and the class 158. I set a path, set up the train but brakes are acting up. On the locomotives I toggle between vacuum and air brakes which releases the brakes but then I cannot reapply. On the 158 I release the brakes but the brake pressure doesn’t drop and power cannot be applied. I’ve done a lot of time in all of the above units/locos so I’m familiar with their operation but after the update I’m struggling.

If you are switching from vacuum brakes to air brakes on the class 40 and 47, you may need to use the Vacuum Chamber Release lever.

For the 158, is it possible the DRA is still on?

I’ve just retried the 158. Spawned in free roam at Barking Riverside in the station platform. DRA isn’t on at all. I can insert drivers key, set reverser to forwards etc. Brakes will not release using either the lever or by using the controller shoulder buttons. This honestly has me stumped.

Do you know where the vacuum release valve is on the 47, please?
