I've updated to TSW5 and got the remastered Great Western Express Route which was already bought when I had TSW4. However I also own separately the Class 52 Western, the Class 101 and the 08 Shunter. I bought the Western as a standalone dlc and the Class 101 was part of the North Transpennine dlc and the Shunter is part of a couple of DLC's.

But I can't play the 1970's timetable because I have to buy the Great Western Legends DLC.

Why can't I use the Western I bought separately to unlock the 1970's timetable? I feel like I'm being shafted, why should I buy a dlc of trains I already own?

Could the timetable please be unlocked so I can play it without having to purchase the Great Western Legends?

Just a small point but you haven’t got the remastered GWE Route as it hasn’t been released yet. You will get it for free though when it is.

Because the timetable is part of the GWDL DLC. BR Blue Liveries also.

How do I know if I've got it or not?

I assumed that it was included when I updated to TSW5.

He means they haven't finished the remaster yet. On the roadmap, its release date is still to be confirmed.

Once they release the remaster for TSW5, you'll get it automatically.

The maroon Class 52 and Diesel Legends have always been separate DLC and it is actually more the extensive timetable that is the product in the latter rather than the reskinned loco. If either of them is poor value for money it is the WSR one, Diesel Legends is well worth the money even if all the trains in it also appear elsewhere.

What I understand is, multiple releases of the same loco is the only way it can be done. At the time a route is created, they can't add a timetable for a future route that is not even in the making.
When a new route is made they add an existing loco as it's easier to create a timetable for it, than it is to rewrite the previous route.
At least reissuing a previous loco into a new route the timetable can be tailor made to fit the route.

I always lol whenever anyone moans about the cost of DLC, since TSW2 Ive spent over 4,300 hours playing TSW on steam and own every DLC. Now let's say I purchased every DLC at full price (spoiler alert I didn't) that comes to £2,104.91 on steam at today's prices. That's less than 50p an hour, now show me any other form of entertainment which comes close to that in terms of cost per hour.

With regards to diesel legends of the Great Western, even if you just completed the 48 Rail Journey services and scenarios at lets say for argument sake at an average of 30 minutes per service that's 24 hours hours of gameplay for the miserly sum of £15.00

Just because you spend so much time in TSW, it doesn't necessarily mean other players can or will do that. Also, if you are fine with the pricing why even be bothered when others aren't?

    You want another example ?

Assetto Corsa Competizione, ive got easily 2000h+ in that Game, with all its DLC it cost me roughly 100 Euros..

We can compare apples and pears all day, in the end its up to the player where he invest time and where he invest his money.

Ideally the GW Legends Western would just be a blue-liveried variation of the same content as the class 52 of WSR, but "unlocked" by the Legends pack. Players have been scratching their heads for years to understand as to why DTG did not choose to centralise rolling stock so that each variation is not a completely separate piece of content. Here we are 8 years in to TSW and we have 57 varieties of class 66; in short, the code structure of TSW is a mess, at least as far as rolling stock goes.

Matt has answered this one. The problem with that would be that if there was a single centralized version of the class 66, to use your example, any changes or fixes to it would require testing to be done in every single DLC it appeared in. Having a separate version of each loco in each DLC keeps it a closed ecosystem.

That´s a crazy amount to be honest. I´ve not even got that much in TSC after over 10 years and building three routes in the editor. Not trying to attack you, just trying to imagine how much time a day one must play TSW to fill up those hours in a few years.

I do recall him saying that but I don't subscribe to that explanation; why would an update to a loco affect a previous route DLC? Yes there are maybe scenarios that might need a tweak, but I think the benefits of centralised rolling stock far outweigh any potential minor issues. Testing before release usually helps.

Any update to any piece of code - has a potential impact on any code that relies on it - thats just basic development.
Say we have the Class 66 in 10 DLC - and a physics fix is needed as it accelerates and brakes too fast. You slow the acceleration and braking for DLC 11 - and all of a sudden - it can't keep to timetable in DLC 1-10. This could lead to trains getting stuck, red light standoffs, all sorts of things.

From my understanding - sounds are linked to the physics model - so sound changes potentially have this impact too...

Suspension - linked to physics... impacts all routes its on.

So - all of a sudden a change to one loco means 11 routes need testing instead of 1 route should they have an individual Class 66 per route.

I can see where Matt and DTG are coming from here, it would hit a point you just wouldn't fix something as the cost outweighs the benefit.

Timetabling apart, the sounds and suspension would be linked to the physics of just one loco, so not that big a deal to fix. Taking the example of the recent suspension upgrades, DTG will have to update many different class 66s instead of just one.
